We were pleasantly surprised by Hotel Orlanda. Our trip to Rome was booked through a travel website that bundled airfare and hotel. The price was a steal of a deal and rating Hotel Orlanda with two star rating. We were a little hesitant, thinking we may have made a mistake and should have upgraded the hotel. But at the end, decided the hotel is just a place to sleep, as long as the place is pretty safe and there is a working toilet and a bed, we should be good.
We arrived via Stazione Termini by taking the express from the airport. The hotel was a short 5 min walk, very convenient. It took us a little bit to find it at first, since the hotel sign was a bit small and not on the ground floor. The person that checked us in was very friendly. We got there quite early, around 10 AM. He was able to check us in immediately.
The room was surprisingly spacious and very clean. We were thinking it would be a pigeon hole of a place, given its convenient location, that space would be at a premium. Nope, it was very nice and spacious. The guy gave us a handy little map around the area as well, which we used for our entire trip as it was much more convenient than the big map we brought with us along with the tour books.
The hotel rate included breakfast, which was a simple pastries and coffee. But we did love it as it was an easy way to start our day. The coffee machine makes cappuccino and espresso as well. The pastries were ordered in, but they were delicious. For a free breakfast, it was not bad at all.
We thoroughly enjoyed our Rome trip and much of it because of how convenient the location of our hotel is. We did not once take a taxi because we were only a mere 5 min walk from Stazion Termini, easy to catch subway and the end stop for many bus lines. When we go back to Rome (not if, cause we definitely will go back...) we would definitely consider staying at the Hotel Orlanda again. read more
