Dorado Beach, A Ritz-Carlton Reserve

Dorado Beach, A Ritz-Carlton Reserve

Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve feels like stepping into a real-life nature sanctuary with…read moreluxury layered on top. My one-week stay here has been genuinely magical. The first night I heard what I assumed was a curated "rainforest soundtrack" through speakers. It's not. Those are actual local frogs, and that small detail somehow sets the tone for the whole experience: it feels real, private, and almost unreal at the same time. The room is massive and thoughtfully designed. The outdoor shower is a standout, and the big tub makes it feel like you have your own spa built in. I didn't have a private pool since I'm on the second floor, but the view is so beautiful I stopped caring pretty quickly. What impressed me most was how effortless everything felt. Having an Embajador team plus a driver/golf cart makes the resort feel easy to navigate, and they're quick to respond when you need anything. The pool is stunning and spacious, and the overall vibe is quiet, calm, and never chaotic. The only thing I wouldn't hype is room service. It was underwhelming for the price, especially the lobster. If you're deciding where to eat, go to Positivo near the concierge instead, it was noticeably better. Even when the weather turned intense, it didn't take away from the stay. If anything, it made the resort feel even more cozy and cinematic. Add in the humidity controls in the room (so underrated), and it's one of those places you leave already planning how to come back.

This is hands down the most luxurious most accommodating, beautiful resort there is. The views and spa are stunning, the restaurants are PHENOMENAL. The service and staff know you by name, they pay attention, this is truly what it's like to be waited on hand and foot. This is a MUST in Puerto Rico.

Luquillo Sunrise Beach Inn - beach view was epic!

Traveling on a budget but want to be on the beach? this place is for you :…read moreI had never stayed at Luquillo Sunrise Beach Inn before, but it had been on my list for quite some time. I've always wanted to spend more time in Luquillo, and after seeing the consistently high ratings on Expedia and TripAdvisor--along with its beachfront location--I decided to give it a try. The property itself is older, but don't let that deter you. The rooms were exceptionally clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, which made for a very relaxing stay. I loved the balcony and watching the ocean from so close! Beautiful sunrise too. Check-in is more laid-back, so don't expect a traditional front desk experience with someone always present. That said, the communication was excellent. I really appreciated that they reached out via text ahead of time to ask about my arrival--it was a thoughtful touch. I arrived earlier than the standard check-in time (as I had mentioned), and there were no issues at all. When I rang the bell, a staff member promptly came out to assist me and greeted me with a warm smile. There's also a very popular restaurant and bar on-site with an amazing-looking menu. Unfortunately, we didn't get the chance to try it this time, but it's definitely on the list for our next visit. The location is another big plus--easy to find, right on the beach, and conveniently close to a Walgreens and other nearby beaches to explore. Overall, this was a great experience, and I would absolutely stay here again. Thank you for a wonderful visit!

Hacienda Tamarindo - Hotel room. We got a room with a balcony and ocean view

So relaxing Accommodating staff…read moreGood food Private pool I went blind into this bed and breakfast; first time to Puerto Rico. As always, I conducted a bunch of research, some say too much but they always ask me to find things for them... The name for the Hacienda Tamarindo is derived from Tamarindo trees on the property. If you go to Vieques there is a ferry they run all day. Ticket was two dollars. Vieques is a nature preserve so expect to see horses everywhere on the island. Oh yeah, roosters too. You need a rental car on the island. Well, at least I would recommend one and am glad I had one. There is no way to see the beaches without a vehicle. Hacienda Tamarindo will reserve your rental for you if you ask. Be aware that you may not want to arrive on the island before the rental company opens. If I'm ever on Vieques I will stay at the Hacienda Tamarindo.

Lots of kind kitties everywhere Hacienda Tamarindo had some great amenities. - the hotel booked our rental car so it was waiting for us when we got to the hotel - you can request they make lunch for you. When we woke up they had it ready to go in a cooler for us - breakfast is included, it not a buffet either, it's a nice sit down breakfast and they serve you - the pool is open 24/7. It has a cute fountain and again great views of the beach - each room comes with a hard side cooler you can take to the beach. - there is an honor bar where you can make your own drinks - you can rent snorkeling gear, beach chairs and umbrellas from them.

Three-star quality at five-star prices…read more Be sure to read the fine print when making a reservation. This hotel runs a "20% hotel tariff" scam that gets tacked onto the bill. The only logical explanation is that this policy makes the room prices appear to cost about $200 a night less than the real charges. Otherwise, why not just raise the advertised price by 20%? There is no doubt the property is in a gorgeous location, sitting directly on the ocean. The buildings are in good condition and the staff is courteous. But, I experienced several shortfalls compared to my expectations for this price point. The suites are provided a "butler," but the available hours are 10am to 6pm. The service would be more accurately described as a concierge. Bringing coffee in the morning is not on the list of duties, nor assisting with unpacking or packing or other typical butler activities. Sending out laundry the day before my departure, I asked to have it folded so it would be easier to pack. Everything came back on hangers. My room did not receive turn-down service and fresh towels during the third night of my stay. I asked to have a car booked to the airport from the hotel. The butler got it backwards and booked it from the airport to the hotel. Good thing that I took a close look at the confirmation and noticed the routing was backwards. The breakfast restaurant, Ola, is extremely crowded in the morning with a 30 to 60 minute wait being typical in my experience. The front of the property is in a skeevy neighborhood so walking somewhere else for breakfast isn't a realistic option. It's not bad, but also not a top tier. property.

The spa was absolutely beautiful, and the spa staff truly made the whole day feel like an experience, not just a service. Poolside, the staff were super helpful and accommodating, which made relaxing even easier. Breakfast at Ola Ocean Front Bistro was fresh, light, and so refreshing. Overall, it was a wonderful stay and the perfect getaway. I'd definitely return!
