A great place to eat if visiting the lower pine creek area. They offer lots of local brews as well. Lots of locals eat here as well so you know it's good. There is a nice deck to sit on and watch the creek when the weather is nice. I have eaten here a few times and the food has always been great, the service has been a little slower at lunch sometimes as they had 1 bartender/ waiter for the whole place. But this is in the winter so their volume is most likely very weather dependent.

Very secluded and peaceful area. I had an enjoyable time there. Went for a birthday biking trip in July 2022. Little to no cell phone service, which is fantastic if you're looking to unplug and unwind. The Hotel offers free wifi, so you can use that if needing to make calls or text. Unless the power goes out, then you're really unplugged and detached from the world (which only happened one night, but I enjoyed it regardless). Comfortable room with NO TV (no complaints here, just an observation. But hey, you're not there to load in the room and watch TV, are you?). Self service breakfast in the morning was convenient and quiet with great views. Deck outside is spacious and welcoming. A big plus is that there is a restaurant/bar inside the hotel with several food and beverage options. Once the car is parked, no need to leave the property. I had no issues during my stay. I'd highly recommend this Hotel to anyone visiting the area. I am looking forward to returning again for some relaxing trail riding and peaceful scenery. A typical day while I was there was: up early, breakfast, get the cycling gear, grab the bike, do some biking, head back to the hotel, change, have some dinner then evening drinks on the deck while looking up at the stars and listening to fish jump in the creek.

The location alone is worth coming here. Large dining room windows overlook the picturesque Pine Creek. The spacious deck is perfect whenever the bugs or heat are not oppressive. Relax on the wrap around porch, kick back on the Adirondack chairs while sipping a beer from decent variety of beers. Located next to biking and biking trails... this place is out of the way, but worth the effort. Food is pretty good too.

We had a great weekend at Hotel Manor. Our room was comfortable and very clean. All the food we ate was absolutely delicious from the crab cake to the buffalo chicken sandwich to the pulled pork and our son loved the chicken tenders. All of the staff was very friendly and kind especially to our five-year-old. Highly recommend Hotel Manor to anyone planning to spend time in Slate Run.

    Presentation

Good atmosphere. Food is where it all goes downhill. I hardly ever write bad reviews, . I keep giving this place a shot, but I finally give up.  1.) No prices on the dinner menu. They literally make it when they give you the bill. They are no where posted, ANYWHERE. I have to research the legality of this.  2.) Problem with flys in dining area, they're everywhere. It's like the apocalypse. 3.). The food. First, was the clam chowder. Decent, but had better from a can. Tip for the cook, add clam juice. Also, the cook is so "proud" of the soup, when the waitresses are asked for old bay seasoning, they are instructed to say that they do not carry any. I am not the only one who asks. They do, they used it as a garnish for the meal that brought me to actually write a bad review. 3.). Ordered the Maui Maui with scallops. Felt in the mood, since they don't have a dinner menu, and only 3 items for the Dinner special. This is how I know they have Old Bay seasoning, as it was used as a garnish. The presentation of the plate was great. But someone needs to send the cook to a restaurant school, or maybe even a Denny's so they know the basics. The rice pilaf, tasted like it was cooked before, then boiled, not steamed, to be reheated.  Speaking of boiling, that's how the food tasted like it was cooked. Scallops are usually pan seared. Not here, Old Bay on top adds the color. Try poached. Not even steamed, poached. And the Maui Maui, same. And raw still. See the attached pictures.  4.) the bill surprise. Now a kids meal is $7. DOES NOT include a drink for the meal. So add $2 for lemonade I had a blue moon beer in a bottle. Figure $5. Now my bill came to $41. So doing the math, that would leave my meal at $27. I live just outside of Philadelphia. Maybe at a 4 star, I could accept that price for an entree due to the training of the kitchen staff,  but let's be serious. Sysco supplies the food. It's frozen. If it was fresh, sure. The cook need some kind, any kind of training.

The building is very nice with a large deck for outdoor seating and a view of the creek. However, the menu left a lot to be desired. We didn't feel there were enough options and the food was nothing to write home about which really disappointed us since the ambience is great.

So when a family member approached me and asked me if I wanted to stay at this inn, I was surprised; but, after learning more, I excitedly said yes. This was the right decision and led to a fantastic and relaxing weekend away from the city. This nature inn sits in Bald Eagle State Park and has 16 guest rooms, a handful of meeting room/library spaces, and is absolutely beautiful. The rooms on one side of the inn overlook a lake, with the other side facing a cluster of trees. My relative and I ended up facing the trees, but we were totally fine with that - especially since the fall foliage was starting to set in. We were on the 2nd floor, so we were able to enjoy the view from a private balcony throughout the weekend; it looked like the 1st floor rooms had little patios instead, so no matter what, guest rooms have some sort of outdoor seating. Normally, guests would all be able to enjoy a communal patio and fire pit here. Granted, some other guests (as it appeared that a large group came here together) did go ahead and enjoy this space. My relative and I did not because avoiding people is a must these days, but still, what we saw of these spaces looked great. Definitely something to remember for the future. Speaking of avoiding people - it's 2020, so naturally, my relative and I were focused on what the inn is doing to protect guests. The answer is, plenty! Cleaning and sanitizing the inn is a big thing, naturally. The small size of the inn definitely helps, as it's not particularly big and doesn't lend itself to the gathering of huge crowds. Masks are a must and for the most part, this rule was adhered to; I passed by a couple of guests that I think just forgot theirs momentarily, but staff definitely took the rule seriously. Their dining room is currently closed - all meals are prepped and offered as take-out or delivery. Fortunately, the rooms include a fridge, so it was super easy for my relative and me to bring snacks and store our leftovers so that we were stocked and well-fed all weekend. Also, while you can request items that you need for your room, daily turn-down service is not happening right now - that way, only guests are in their rooms during their stay. The result was that I felt extremely relaxed while I was in the inn, knowing that my space and health was being respected and taken seriously. A couple of notes - the mattresses here were admittedly very hard and uncomfortable, and while they didn't ruin our stay, it's still nice to have my comfy soft bed back. I don't really hold this against the inn though since, frankly, I think all hotel beds are uncomfortable by default. Speaking of things I don't hold against them - this is a nature inn, so you better expect some of the local wildlife to try to get into your room. When I first opened my balcony door some stinkbugs fell onto me because they had gathered around the door frame - whoops! The good news is that the door itself was very well sealed, so the little jerks couldn't get in when the door was closed. Again, I don't hold that against the inn at all, seeing as it's set right in a state park. Still, I think it's fair to remind other guests and readers that when you visit a nature park, you better be ready to experience everything nature throws at you. If any of this sounded like something you would enjoy, I encourage you to visit the inn's website to learn more about staying here; there is a lot of information there about a range of other topics, such as how the entire facility is designed to be ecologically sound, what to expect when you visit during different seasons, and what sorts of outdoor fun awaits you in the surrounding nature park. I definitely recommend this beautiful inn as a getaway option - now and in the future; and I hope to be back one day to enjoy more of the surrounding area!

It is the most peaceful place and we loved staying there. There is a shared living room, kitchen, and wrap around porch. We spent hours on the porch as we don't have any outdoor space at our home in the city. We met sooo many nice people who were staying there and we all hung out on the porch together each day. We arrived on a Sunday night and learned from other guests that no places are open for dining on Sundays, so we went to the local food store and bought steaks and other side dishes and cooked out on the gas grill area. Like everyone is saying in their reviews, the breakfast is spectacular. We also bought a ton of homemade jam, salsa, and honey in the gift shop. It was quite reasonably priced. In terms of exercising, I didn't really feel safe biking or running from the bnb as the roads have no shoulder and the large trucks speed down the road, but my bf biked from there every day. I walked the steep hilly dirt road across the street and drove to safer places to run/bike. Everything is a pretty far drive away, but I think that is normal life for this part of the state and we just enjoyed the scenery of country life on our drives. I def would stay here again next time if I come back to this area.

They finally sat us in a back dining room that was freezing cold and when we asked if they could adjust the heat, the waitress told us how the heat did not work in that room. Cool, seat your customers willingly in a room you know doesn't have heat in the middle of the winter... When I asked about moving into the main dining area since it was much warmer, the waitress got snappy with me and told me in a condescending tone how they are "too busy" and cleaning off the newly opened table would "take too long". It was cleaned off not even a minute later by another staff member. We then asked again if we could switch to that table 10 minutes later, and our waitress again said "we are busy, that table won't be ready for a while" before abruptly stopping and telling us in a nasty tone how we could "grab everything and move ourselves to the new table then". Then it came time to order drinks and the waitress had no clue what sorts of beverages they offered. Repeatedly said they did not have the kinds of beer we were asking for despite us seeing them in the refrigerator behind the bar. We finally went to order food where the menu was limited to 3 mediocre options. 4 of us ordered the $40 "surf n' turf", and were later informed 5 minutes after ordering, that they only had 3 steaks left, forcing one of us to pick something else. Each steak came out very well done despite us all ordering our steaks rare-medium. The steaks were incredibly poor quality and chewy. The shrimp was rock hard. The mashed potatoes were plated with a gravy well in the center, yet the kitchen did not include any gravy. When we asked if we could have gravy for our mashed potatoes the waitress said "yeah I guess if you want" again in her condescending tone. Pretty sad if you limit your menu to 3 items for Valentine's Day and can't even perfect them. Came time to order their "Valentine's Day" dessert specials and they told us they ran out of ice cream. Overall this place is a joke. A kitchen that managed to make every ingredient taste like it lost the will to live. No coordination between staff members. No consideration or respect for the comfort of their customers. This was not a one night slip up. It was a failure in planning, execution, and basic hospitality from start to finish. The level of incompetence required to serve food like this confidently is almost impressive. If this is how they operate on one of the most predictable, high volume nights of the year, I can't imagine what a normal evening looks like. Do yourself a favor and eat somewhere else.
