There a few times back in the 80's & 90's. Probably sold to others by now. Roasted duck entree was delicious. Well made cocktails and a decent wine list was a plus.Downside were the beds, literally straw mattress, when you laid down you'd sink to the center, not at all supportive, you would spend the morning of the next day trying to get the aches to go away. But for $40 you got your lodging, dinner & breakfast. Granted that was 45 years ago. CR inn was 10 miles off the closest paved road (Rt. 287 Williamsport to Wellsboro) and last 5 miles was gravel. The CR inn parking area is right next to the train tracks that serve upstate coal mines. The train came through at 3:30 AM and shakes you awake. That was nightly. Later the rails were taken up & I believe it's a hiking trail now. Wellsboro is the county seat & charming with is stately homes & gas lit streets. Nearby is the grand canyon of Pennsylvania. At least 3 state parks merged together. A ride through the inn's road system yielded another gem- the "Blackforest Inn at the Top of Slate Run" .a gigantic log cabin (new at the time) with a fieldstone fireplace that ate up 6 foot logs.comfy sofas & chairs formed a casual cocktail nook. Pretty good food there + they had clear birch beer on tap. Adjoins a mountain top airport. Pleasant memories for me. If you are going to Wellsboro I suggest the Penn Wells hotell (6 floors) city owned & operated, great weekend brunch with a unique cozy bar. Don't stay on the 2nd floor over the bar like I did.

Man did they hit the nail right on the head!…read more I just spent the last 4 days at First Fork Lodge and it could hardly have been better. A beautiful, comfortable B&B (it's an actual bed and breakfast) in a beautiful setting. First: Sandy and Dave were So welcoming. They made a big breakfast every morning. They were great company when I wanted company, they left me room when I wanted some quiet, they had directions and suggestions, it was like staying with family (if you like your family, that is). The house: a big, historic country home. CLEAN. Beautiful screened porch, super-comfortable sitting rooms, and the bedrooms are each themed -- it's a fun place. Mine (the Barn room) nailed the 3 c's of a good room: clean, comfortable and quiet. The setting: surrounded by the rolling hills of Pennsylvania. Quiet. Walking trails and a stream right next to the property. Lots of wildlife. Half hour from Cherry Springs State Park -- it's a dark sky park (Google it, it's a national treasure, super family-friendly, and free. If it's not on your bucket list, stop what you're doing and write it down at once. I'll wait...) There's plenty of fishing nearby -- like, a 5-minute walk. (Which reminds me, they have fishing flies for sale, for every time of year and every local fish.) Good hunting all around too. Drive up to the top of the mountain (ask Dave, the directions are easy) and spend a few hours hearing nothing but the wind in the trees, birds and cicadas. There are small towns nearby for dinner, convenience stores, gas stations etc. There are other points of interest around but the park, the scenery and the quiet are plenty of reason to visit. Great place for a few peaceful days, great place for a romantic getaway. Great place. I'll be back. Bonus tip: the cell service in the area is not 100%, which is a great excuse for ignoring the phone and focusing on your relaxation. Bonus tip #2, ask Dave to bake apple turnovers. 1104 Costello Rd., Austin PA 814-647-8644 www.firstforklodgellc.com

Absolutely beautiful property, many amenities for guests to enjoy and the two corgis running around was a lovely bonus if you ask my 8 year old daughter. We enjoyed sitting on the covered porch of the farmhouse and playing board games while we waited for dusk. Breakfast was delicious - plenty of options to meet every palate. Lots of cute goodies in the gift shop as well. Price was very reasonable, especially for the service provided. We would love to stay again one day!

There is a shared living room, kitchen, and wrap around porch. We spent hours on the porch as we don't have any outdoor space at our home in the city. We met sooo many nice people who were staying there and we all hung out on the porch together each day. We arrived on a Sunday night and learned from other guests that no places are open for dining on Sundays, so we went to the local food store and bought steaks and other side dishes and cooked out on the gas grill area. Like everyone is saying in their reviews, the breakfast is spectacular. We also bought a ton of homemade jam, salsa, and honey in the gift shop. It was quite reasonably priced. In terms of exercising, I didn't really feel safe biking or running from the bnb as the roads have no shoulder and the large trucks speed down the road, but my bf biked from there every day. I walked the steep hilly dirt road across the street and drove to safer places to run/bike. Everything is a pretty far drive away, but I think that is normal life for this part of the state and we just enjoyed the scenery of country life on our drives. I def would stay here again next time if I come back to this area.
