But this year, I was very affected by something they did in customer service. The room we were given last night is our room with large windows that have the lights right outside of them that light up the building. This blazing light starts at sunset and end at sunrise. Even with the blackout blinds, it is bright in our room at night. We also can't look out the window after dark or before sunrise because of the glare of the light. When I asked them to please change our room, they said they did not have any other room in our "tier" which means in the price point we paid. The hotel is virtually empty this weekend. Nevertheless, they are choosing not to give us a different room as a service. I am so very hurt and disappointed. It's a great hotel and a great location. But this inflexibility, even for silver members like us, feels very sad and unnecessary.

The bathroom was super cute with clean white tiles, a spacious shower, and a relic from another time--a hole in the wall for used razor blades. My grandmother's bathroom used to have one of those, but my son has never seen one and was fascinated. The vintage features really make it interesting to stay in places like the Wells Hotel. Plenty of parking, but not much around hotel. A few fast food joints, a Lowes and a Walmart and Aldi nearby. No sit down restaurant other than an Applebees. Breakfast was standard hotel breakfast, only pork sausage and powdered eggs, waffles or pancakes. No oatmeal, just cereal, and an instant Folgers coffee machine, first time i have seen one. Coffee not bad. Unlikely i will stay here again, but for the area and price it was okay.

They had cookies set out as well, which is always a nice welcome, along with free bottled water. I stayed in room 300 (digital key worked just fine). I prefer rooms at or near the end of hallways away from elevators. I ended up choosing the end of the hall that is closest to the main road so there was occasional street noise but it wasn't constant. The room is very clean - the bathroom looks like it was recently renovated...also very clean. They have all the amenities of a Hampton Inn - gym, free parking, free breakfast. It's my preferred chain for travel. This location has a pool as well so that's nice for families. I would definitely stay at this location again.

Close to food, gas, and shopping. Staff is friendly, check in is quick. There are train tracks on the other side of US-15, but I haven't heard any train noise. Other amenities include a pool and gym.
