One of my favorite hotel experiences ever. Sitting in a lovely rooftop garden with pots of blooming flowers and birds and the view over the roof tops of Rome with a freshly made capucchino contemplating our day was one of the perfect moments of our trip. The hotel is perfectly located near the Spanish steps. It's a smaller and older hotel with a bit of a funky lay out and with some tight spaces in the bathrooms and weird window locations, but spacious when compared to other Italian hotels in antique sections of towns. HM was a perfect set up for our family of five. And, they had the nicest staff a traveling family could ask for from the smiling maids, to the kind breakfast lady upstairs who somehow manages to get fresh custom coffee--espresso, machiatto, capucchino-- to a multitude at 6:30am while laying out a lovely fresh breakfast (again, the rooftop breakfast room was to die for), but mostly the ever helpful multilingual front desk staff, were all wonderful. It has working air-conditioning (which some older Italian hotels lack or only allow you to turn on for limited hours). And they have noise blocking windows so you can completely block out street noise if you prefer to sleep with windows closed. Also one of the better breakfast spreads we had and we traveled extensively thru Italy (I'm Italian American and visit Tuscany frequently). read more
