My parents stayed here when they came to visit. They were very pleased overall. In short, much better than the Sandman which is nearby.

We chose this thanks to amazing TripAdvisor reviews and they charged us half of what any small Montreal/QC hotels would have charged us. The rooms are small, but very clean. It's run by an old couple who have maintained the place well. Free breakfast cooked by the owner's wife is simple but satiating. The owner converses in broken English but both him and his wife conversed with us during breakfast via gestures and are undoubtedly the most humble people I've met on this earth! On our way back, since it was our second visit, they upgraded our room to a bigger one! If you're visiting any of the cities and Trois Rivieres is on the way, I'd suggest staying here comfortably at a much cheaper price with free breakfast covered than in a pricier cramped up place in the city.

The rooms are very small and have the bare essentials, you know a bed, little fridge, bathroom & tv It's been a while I have come here and it gets worse every time and the prices keep increasing. The room size was more than adequate and the overhead shower was heaven; we really enjoyed the bathroom setup and ease of finding light switches and outlets, and the fridge and TV helped us settle in a little more during down time and post-meal. There was a nice but slightly-obstructed courtyard view, for privacy purposes, that encouraged you to find new ways to enter the stone walking path that weaves throughout the pond and garden area. We had breakfast (not usually included) one morning and the buffet was the way to go. Valet parking and elevators directly to the tenth floor lobby made things easier than most major city hotel stays, and staff at the front desk were extremely accommodating and simplified things for a quick check-in and any needs during our stay (convenience bar has a quality variety of drinks, snacks and sandwiches). What impressed us the most was the rooftop terrace featuring a pool, two hot tubs, a sauna and bar (drinks, apps and entrees available throughout their lengthy pool hours) but also many large trees. I didn't ask about their root structure or how they vaulted them up ten floors, but it's neat and totally sets the stage for a resort-style vibe atop an iconic city highrise.

This is my second stay at this hotel, my first was just one night. This time I stayed four nights,…read morea deal through Costco that included a rental car. If I attract the cost of the rental car based on what it would have cost me to rent for the same length of time directly, the hotel stay was a screaming deal. However I sort of wonder if these customers get the rooms that are more run down because I definitely didn't feel the area of the hotel that I was in was in the best state of repair. Just walking down the hall towards the room you could see the woodwork was banged up and everything just seemed a little run down. Same thing once we got to the room. There was some discoloration in the caulk in the bathroom shower, the floor of which was a little slippery and required a towel to be laid down on the shower floor for traction. The location of the shower head in relation to the shower door resulted in water coming out onto the bathroom floor no matter how hard you try to avoid it and you could see the impact of this over time. The room had a funky smell to it and every time I was in the room my sinuses went crazy, the one night I slept with an n95. The refrigerator on my previous day wasn't very cold at all but this time it was so cold that my energy drink was slush the next morning and so I was very happy with that. The TV as far as I could see only work if you hook it to your telephone and stream your own video, or log on to YouTube as a guest. The safe is nice put your passport and other valuables and is very simple to figure out. There was a clock radio that provided a night light but unfortunately it circulated through all colors which I found kind of annoying at night. A lot of these devices have a setting where you can just choose one color and have it steady instead of circulating and messing with your sleep but there was no instructions. I had to leave it on so my traveling partner would have a night light, if that's an issue for you bring a sleep mask. We had a nice view of the garden from our room. I was walking by some other rooms when the door was open one day and I could see that they just had a view of concrete building across the street so we locked out on that. The wing of the hotel we were in and the room itself have dark carpeting and dark walls and so it can be very hard to see. Traveling with a visually impaired family member this was definitely a problem and something to keep in mind if you decide to book here. In fact there is a set of steps going down to where our room was and the lighting is poor. Even though the steps aren't steep my mom almost fell due to the poor lighting. I feel like they could easily install some lights along the edges of the step, or paint the edge of the step bright yellow. I actually told them at the front desk about this and the gentleman that I talked to indicated me that he just didn't care. It could be lack of training but I definitely didn't hear "oh I'm so sorry to hear that", or "I'll let someone know to get eyes on that" etc. Honestly! And then of course absolutely no sympathy for the funky smell in the room. I later heard from one of the staff that someone who actually fell on those steps the day before so it's not just us. The parking is a little expensive and you only get one in and out per day but if you're coming from states remember it's in Canadian dollars. We were supposed to have two free drinks from The Kube restaurant included in our package but every time we walked past that restaurant we could smell a strong fragrance and so we were not tempted to eat in the restaurant one bit. The first night walked by there we thought it was someone with perfume but it was consistent every night and then we realized it must be some sort of air freshener for the restaurant? It was just weird. Everyone else we encountered in the hotel were extremely kind and helpful, five stars for all of them! Perhaps the one person I talked to at the front desk that one evening should take lessons from the maintenance personnel, the doorman or the housekeeper.

Very helpful for English speakers. - Free parking! You do have to inform the front desk if you will be parking your car there though. They just need your plate number. - Free wifi! Very easy trip to downtown. - Easy walk to Olympic stadium and parks. - Fridge & coffee maker in 2 double bed room. - Affordable! The suites aren't that bad either! Cons: - No microwave. The location is great - right in the heart of downtown, next to a Tim Horton's, a few blocks from a Pharmaprix, and with plenty of dining options within walking distance. While there aren't many parking options for a vehicle, we found their valet service well worth the $35-38 per day. The daily continental breakfast was tasty! There were plenty of options including oatmeal, cereals, fresh bagels, assorted meats and cheeses, yogurt, hard-boiled eggs, a variety of fruit, juices, milk, coffee and tea. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, with a full kitchen and cozy dining area, VERY comfortable bed(s), a big bath tub, and good views. I slept very well every night and was never disrupted by hotel sounds. There is also a rooftop gym and while small, has enough equipment to get the job done. There is also a heated pool and a nice rooftop area right next to it. The service was also top notch, everyone on the LSP team was very welcoming and polite. I tried my best to communicate in French, but they were patient and made sure I got the information I needed. I've stayed at hotels double the price that were half as good as Le Square Phillips. Can't wait to stay here again!

The maintenance guy pretended not to see the bed bugs in the headboard that I showed him, and the front desk clerk expressed no sympathy and never apologized. It cost us hundreds of dollars and the painful bites made the rest of our vacation sub-par. In contrast, I commend Expedia, through which I booked the hotel, who were sympathetic and did everything they could to help.
