I have never been more shocked by a yelp rating! Let me say I wholeheartedly disagree with the current status being three stars only. This was THE BEST hotel stay I had while visiting Switzerland! First things, I booked a single room and was shocked when I walked in to find a queen sized bed. This is really an upgrade from what most other hotels provide to single room bookings. Yes, it was small but well laid out. All the comforts and toiletries were provided. Toothbrush, toothpaste, razors, slippers and so much more. Plus, the bed was insanely comfortable AND the room had great AC. I also loved that they provided a mini fridge and left a cold water everyday. That was a nice little touch. I suppose the only minor issue was the shower/bath tub situation. It was setup rather awkwardly but nothing that couldn't be managed. It wasn't issue enough for me to remove a star! But just a heads up. If you are very tall or have mobility issues, the shower/tub could be a challenge. Otherwise the bathroom was very large and easy to move about in. Other perks here would be the excellent breakfast, onsite restaurant providing guests with a discount, and complimentary bus pass for Interlaken zones. The staff were helpful and kind. I will definitely stay again during my next visit to Interlaken. read more

We stopped in here for dinner while I'm vacation for the fondue and dual outdoor space. The cheese fondue was fantastic with small one sized bread squares and potatoes. The tomato soup was another two levels higher though! The best I've ever had. It tasted like eating pizza sauce to me...but I LOVE red sauce so understand the source. The service however was something to be desired. I asked the waiter to explain the fondue choices and I got a haughty response and felt like he was put upon. This could've been the European way, but I didn't feel like a customer. After the food he didn't come back to check on us. Again, could just be the European way. Highly recommended for the food and outdoor seating behind the glass or by the street. read more

7/13/2024 - we arrived and our rooms would be ready in 45 minutes. Placed our bags at the hotel for storage. It was about a 10 min flat walk from the train station to the hotel. Very easy. Lots of shops in the area. Noticed 90% Indian food here, then 2 grocery stores, lots of barber shops, a lot actually, and miscellaneous food shops like pasta and food and a McDonalds. Hotel is nice and great front desk employee. Elevator is big for 2 persons and 2 bags. Only 3 floors at the hotel and you get a free Buffett in the morning. The water pressure is great. Except if you are taller than 5 ft 8 inches you will hate the shower. You are stuck in a corner or the bathtub will leak and the nozzle is broken and for tall people you won't have a good shower at all. See photos. Still 5 stars overall except the shower. Nice room I'm in but avoid room number 207 where I'm staying in only because of the shower height and leaky shower onto the floor. We have a bottle of wine and couldn't find our corkscrew, I went to the bar downstairs and they welcomed opening the wine, looked and and said this was a good wine and offered us wine glasses. Exceptional detail to service for us. Amazing. More to come. Saturday, 7/13/2024, Buffett is from 7am-10am, I'm the only one here at 7:40am except one couple. All the food hasn't been touched. I'm actually surprised at the low rating and bad reviews for Hotel Krebs. The lady at the reception was welcoming, friendly and efficient. The restaurant area was classy and had great ambiance. I assume the bad reviews was for something else other than a review of the hotel. In any case, we loved our hotel room. There wasn't much of a view from our room, but we could see paragliders floating near the mountain every morning and heard the church bell gong every hour. The room was spacious, very clean and comfy. The hotel provided our room with the most amenities I've ever seen from an establishment! Sealed bags of toothbrushes, toothpaste, hair comb, sewing kit, shower cap, razors, shaving cream, nail filer and qtips! Everything you might have forgotten or didn't even know you needed. So thoughtful! The room had a bathtub AND a stand up shower along with 2 sinks. We enjoyed returning back to our room at the end of the night because we knew we would have a good night's sleep at Krebs. It's a 5 min walk from the Interlaken West train stop. Very convenient. Breakfast in the morning was exceptional. Delicious breads, yogurt, fruit, muesli with fixins, Eggs (scrambled and boiled), bacon, and sausages were all regulars with grilled tomatoes, beans, rice and chicken nuggets were offered on another day. An assortment of juices, coffee and espresso are offered as well. With food being so expensive in Switzerland, a great hearty breakfast at the hotel is appreciated. We loved it here and will definitely come back and recommend it to anyone visiting the area. read more

If I could give this place negative stars, I would. Do not stay here. There are better hotels in the area that will not try to cheat you. We were coming from Zurich and eventually checked in around 5:30pm. The check in process was fine, but hospitality is definitely not part of their vocabulary. I am giving the front desk receptionist the benefit of the doubt since she was helping someone else when I walked in. She was probably stressed/overworked, so I am going to leave that alone. The hotel is located a few minutes from the Interlaken West train station. Very convenient and easy to get to if you are unfamiliar with the area. They have a Coop right next door and an in-house restaurant that was actually pretty good. Make sure you mention that you are a hotel guest so they can give you a 10% discount on your food. They provide a free breakfast from 6am-10am I believe. The breakfast wasn't the best, but also not the worst. The croissant and bread was fresh though. The hotel itself is very old and you will notice it when you walk in. The elevator is so tiny that you can only fit 1 person with 4 luggages. There's another elevator just a few steps up on the left side that's more modern and a little bigger. While walking to our rooms, I notices that the floor had areas that were not flat. If you aren't careful, you can sprain an ankle when walking in the hallway. They had the heater turned on when I walked into the room. So you will probably want to open up the windows to cool it down a bit. They do not have AC available during the winter months. But their windows do not have any screens on them. So just be aware that animals/critters could crawl in. Not to mention that we were on the first floor and our bedroom windows leads out onto the roof. So make sure you remember to close your windows and lock them when you leave to make sure your things are secured. So I reserved 2 rooms for the family. While we were unpacking, my in-laws across from me got a knock on their door and 2 maintenance guys walked in and flushed the toilet and checked the faucet. After about a minute or so, they just walked right out with not explanation as to why they were there. After 4 days here, I was ready to leave to a nicer hotel with better hospitality. Upon check out, the front desk receptionist (Andrea), informed me that they are charging me $500CH for water damage on the day that we checked in. We explained to her that we did not cause the water damage and where she was getting this information from. She continued to be rude and saying that we caused electrical damage all the way to the bottom floor. She kept on asking how can this happen since we just checked in and 20 minutes later you send up 2 maintenance guys to check our plumbing? Couldn't it have been the previous people that stayed int he room or because your hotel is so old, the pipes might have sprung a leak. She denied all that and continued yelling at us. I had not choice but to pay the amount owed because our train was leaving in about 15 minutes. This is the worse experience I've ever had and the fact that Andrea would not listen to our reasoning and just kept on blaming us for the water damage. She even said that she doesn't know the details since she wasn't there that day. What the hell!! They are definitely scamming us and trying to make us pay for their maintenance. read more

Had the unpleasant idea to sit down with my family for lunch. We have been forced to wait for 10 minutes for the menu - faces the most rude and unkind waitress in Interlaken. Which started to explain with a loud and unpleasant voice that 4 people can not eat on that table. Instead of offering a new surfing position or considering us as customers - she was to happy enjoying her moment of power. We stood up and left the place. The tables around were shocked and could not believe what happened. They said we were right on leaving. Congratulation to the service, the hospitality and the welcome. Obviously we have been answering to all the tourist who asked us where to go - to avoid that place. In any case I think the owners might not be worried about it - seemed pretty full, but people talk to each other ... read more

This is the absolute most rude service I have ever had. The waitress had an attitude and yelled at us as we ordered. Waiters had no idea what they were doing and hide charges. How disrespectful they were was unreal. I would never ever come back here and will tell people to always avoid this place in Interlaken. They were very late to orders and forgot about most of them. To top it off the food was so mediocre. If they are going to be this rude and charge so much, I figured the food would be great, yet it tasted like alley food. read more

Bad food, awkward food-plate combinations and "on your face" waitress. They have their own definition of hospitality. Be very very specific(somehow you are supposed to know everything about Switzerland in the very first minute you step into the country according to the waitress)in ordering your stuff or else there are a lot of "read in between" lines which hotel guys won't waste in ripping off a customer. For example - Regular water (despite indicating to the waiter that you want normal water that usually hotels provide) can mean "still water" in Krebs and the bill will have nearly 5 francs added. read more

Visited this restaurant two nights in a row in early July. Interlaken was in the midst of an awful heat wave and most of the restaurants were too hot to feel comfortable in. This one at least had outdoor seating in the evening and it wasn't so bad. I arrived around 7-8 both nights. Waitress was friendly and I had pre dinner drinks. I tried the cheese and tomato fondue as a suggestion from the waitress and the second night I had the steak. The food was good, service was friendly and the price wasn't terribly ridiculous. This review is for the restaurant. We went around 830, on a week day evening, we we'reinformed the kitchen closes around 9:15. While it was busy, we we're able to snag one of the last patio tables, it was a cute ambiance. We selected this spot specifically for a fondue dinner after looking at a handful of other restaurant menus and reviews on trip advisor (sorry Yelp, it seems people just don't use you as much in Europe.) We split the regular cheese fondue (tip: the waiter said the $2 F kirsh addition doesnt make a big taste differnce) and each had a glass of wine, we left completely stuffed for under $60 F which is pretty darn good for Switzerland. The fondue was delicious, and contrary to all other places we saw, they served pickles and pears in addition to just steamed potatoes and bread. More bang for your buck! The bread wasn't just a normal loaf cut into chunks either, it was slices of individual poppables, served hot and fresh. The service was good, there were about two waiters helping us out, they were friendly and we had no complaints about being slow which can be an issue we've noticed. We also observed that unlike the other places we saw, there was not a 2 person minimum for fondue. We saw many folks with a smaller pot suggesting individual servings. Would recommend! read more

We loved the Krebs. We stayed two nights and it was the best placed we stayed in Switzerland. The rooms are big and the beds are comfortable. The rooms also have a mini fridge. The staff is very helpful and knew all the spots. The restaurant is wonderful too. The outside seating was nice on a warm night. The breakfast is not to be missed, the best in Switzerland. It is also a short walk to the train station and all the shops. We will be coming back as soon as possible. read more
