A one star hotel doesn't mean poor quality. In fact, this hotel exceeded the expectations of both my girlfriend (who is Italian) and I.
PROS (more details below)
1) Great location
2) Great price (55€)
3) Large room with TV
4) Very clean and well maintained
5) Italian and English speaking concierge
CONS (more details below)
1) Wifi is not free but very cheap (5€ Per 24 hours of usage)
2) Not really much space in the lobby.
3) Some rooms have bathrooms but others must rely on a communal ones. ALSO, some of the rooms are bigger than others so make sure you know the size of the room when making a reservation.

Location. The hotel is located one minute from the train station, several bus stops, the tourist information center, a slew of shops and Santa Maria Novella!
The old man who is in charge is extremely nice and friendly. His English is excellent however we primarily talked to him in Italian. He provided us with our key and a map of Florence.
Our room? LARGE. It's 15.75 square meters (advertised to sleep 2 people however there is another bed and fold out bed allowing the room to hold 4 people comfortably). We later found out our room is the largest on the floor, so keep that in mind. The view from our room is great. The tv has many channels (but nobody goes to Florence to watch TV).
Everything was clean and proper! I think the hotel is especially great for tourists and those trying to save money yet still lodge comfortably.
CONS:
I really had to nitpick to find a suitable list of low points. There's no elevator so be prepared to haul your stuff up three or four flights of narrow stairs. The lobby is small, and there's no fancy free, continental breakfast.
Looking past all of these minor things, some rooms have to share one of few communal bathrooms (others have a bathroom). Regardless, they were always clean and I didn't have any problems with having to wait long to use one.
Overall this was great experience for our one night stay. read more
