Hotel Boccaccio is great. It's literally stone's throw from Florence Santa Maria Novella train station (Literally. Walk out, head right, you can't miss it). It's a typical 3 star European hotel: no-nonsense, tidy and compact. The bathroom is remarkably modern and clean, and the climate control AC unit is absolutely fabulous.
Free breakfast and wifi, but connection on the iPhone was once again problematic. We booked a prepaid rate directly through the hotel, which was extremely reasonable. I'm talking borderline robbery. (€90/ night average for double twin - 2 nights.)
Florence is such a small city that we were able to walk to the Uffizi Gallery, across the Ponte Vecchio, down to Pitti Palace, back up to the Duomo and then over to San Lorenzo market all in a day's work. If traveling with the train, this hotel can't be beat for price, comfort and convenience. read more
