Dog Friendly! Moose love this place!

Never would have guessed this place existed until we read the reviews! Glad we are staying here! The restaurant is incredible. Hostess was phenomenal as well as our server! Where we would have gone and spent well over $200 for our drinks and tasty food anywhere else, our bill was only $99! We will consider this our regular stop halfway to Tucson. Highly recommend. Even the gentleman at the front desk was very helpful and courteous.

This hotel was built in the 30s and has a lot of character. Beautifully renovated hotel. Unique hotel much nicer than chain hotels. The suite rooms have French doors that open onto a private patio with lounge chairs and a table that overlook the courtyard and fountain. Pet fees are $40 per pet, per night.

Stayed at this hotel for a night on my way back home. It is so unique and amazing! I really wanted to give it 4 stars because I am sensitive to smells and this hotel had a hint of a smell that was not bad but just odd smelling or something. Could not quite put my finger on it. Saying that, The smell thing(which is not bad just odd) was the ONLY negative I can tell you about. EVERYTHING ELSE AND I MEAN EVERYTHING ELSE WAS AMAZING!!!!! Let me just say this, I recently spent some time at The Savoy Hotel in London, England and as good as that was I am going to boast about The El Capitan. The room was clean, the bed linens were superior, the pillows were amazing. The bed was so comfortable! The bathroom linens were superior. The bathroom was sparkling clean. The shower was great! The bathroom fan and heater worked perfectly. The bedroom had a ceiling fan that made our nights rest so amazing!!!!! There was bottled water in our room free to us. This hotel blew me away. To top this ALL off, Alma, The very very nice lady at the front desk had HOT COFFEE in the hotel lobby ready at 4:30am to enjoy! It was the best coffee!!!! There is a cozy reading room with a small book store off to the side of the lobby that was just perfect to enjoy my morning coffee in. I cannot wait to go back and stay at The El Capitan again but for a longer stay.

Lobby

Historic old hotel. It's dated but it has a lot of charm. The restaurant had a really good dinner. We ate here more than once. The rooms were large. The bathrooms on the small side. Staff was very attentive.

MUST stop on way to Big Bend National Park. This old Hoosier couple live historical hotels and El Capitan was overflowing. Parking was FREE, ample, easy and extremely well lit. Front courtyard needs a little TLC from a living Gardner, but was still sweet. Yes, rooms are on smaller side, but very clean. Bathrooms are the same. Great water pressure which feels great when you are on a road trip. Attached restaurant had bar stocked with thousands of liquors. Sylvia was our kind, informative waitress. Food and drinks were well prepared and tasty. I was allowed to take my second drink to our room. Cookies at front desk when we checked in were delicious. Highly recommend for a relaxing, enjoyable stop! Enjoy!

Stayed here on our way to the Guadalupe Mountains National Park. It's a historical hotel that was refurbished. The courtyard and lobby are beautiful and it feels like you've stepped back in time. The front desk staff were friendly and checked us in quickly. The room was small but worked fine for our quick stay. A small bathroom but everything in it worked well! Had a small balcony overlooking the courtyard. We also ate at the hotel restaurant and had a wonderful experience. And from a drive around town, this hotel and restaurant are likely the best in town! (And affordable!)

This is a must if you are driving through West Texas on I10. It's an architectural gem with amazing accommodations. Great service. Excellent restaurant. I just can't say enough great things. I am so thrilled I finally got a chance to stay there. It is also pet friendly. My dog gave it 5 stars too.

Or, having what essentially amounted to open-ended garage for most of the rooms. While the room does have a microwave, and mini fridge, a clock on the microwave read zero call 0:00. So, I had not realized that I drove through two time zones! Only after going out to dinner, and seeing that the place closed in 45 minutes, did I realize something was wrong. I found the bed to be quite comfortable. And the hot water was plentiful. The Wi-Fi is free, and secured. However, in my room, the signal strength was not at maximum. So, it worked fine for text. But, when it came to images, it took a while. Also, there's enough outlets to charge everyone's devices. 8-) If you don't mind having to either eat out for every meal, or being a microwave chef, this small little place would do well for an Extended Stay. The AC ran quietly, and work very well. However, due to the room design, the area where the bed was, cooled off quicker than the rest of the room. However, there could be one problem for some people; if you have a habit of jumping out of bed oh, you may find yourself back in bed, because you bounced off the wall.

Although we planned to stay elsewhere, we saw the Red Roof Inn sign, and decided to check it out. Laura was at the front desk. She listened to our needs and made recommendations regarding rooms and rates. She was not only professional but had a great sense of humor. The hotel common areas and grounds were well kept and clean. Our room was large and spotless. WiFi connection was solid. My only disappointment was in the complimentary breakfast provided the next morning. There were fountain juices, breads for toasting, apples,a small assortment of cereals, and two 'make your own waffles' waffle-makers with easy to read and follow directions posted by each waffle maker. Syrup, butter, and jelly packets were plentiful. But no milk? A covered chafing dish had a flame burning underneath but lifting the cover revealed...nothing but steam. Eggs and bacon to go with the waffles would have made this stay perfect Subtract the incomplete breakfast, our brief stay at Van Horn's, Red Roof Inn was outstanding. I very much recommend it and Laura.

We (the owners) went to every hotel in town in order to find the best accommodations for ourselves and our crew. Red Roof Inn was actually the last hotel we went to. Great price, clean/large rooms, complimentary conference room, free continental breakfast, coin laundry on site, outdoor area with grills, kitchenettes with large fridge all made it worthwhile from a business stand point. Our crew have been very happy with the accommodations as well. They can cook in their rooms and send more money home to their families. Now about Cathy, the manager. She goes above and beyond and takes personal pride in making this Red Roof Inn the very best it can be. There is always someone cleaning, sweeping, mopping the hallways, dining area, lobby, etc. The staff is courteous and work diligently to make sure we are comfortable and our needs are addressed quickly. The cleaning staff is efficient and helpful. Cathy works tirelessly with her staff to provide a cohesive and positive experience for all the guests. I am a educator/trainer and I see how well she trains her staff and her patience as she does so. If you want a decent, clean and affordable place to lay your head at night, come see Cathy. She will make it worth your while.

Plenty of warm blankets, mattress was not too soft nor too firm, short carpeted flooring, really nice bathroom set-up! The shower was on-point. Lots of hot water, the shower head delivered good flow in an even spray pattern, and was mounted well above my head. Showers are always one of those iffy you-never-know-what-you'll-get kind of things when traveling, so this was a pleasant surprise. Mini fridge, microwave, satellite TV, flatscreen, ceiling fan, and A/C unit that worked really well. Even an additional plush armchair by the bed was really appreciated. Also an electrical socket with FOUR plugs! We could all charge our devices simultaneously without hunting around the room or unplugging lamps or other annoyances I've had with other motels. There's guest laundry available, and an ice machine that, fair warning, ejects an entire ice bucket's worth of ice with one press of the button. I did not know this, held the button, and ended up with an avalanche of ice that did not fit in my Hydroflask, LOL. My only frustration was the short window for breakfast (which we missed) from 7-9am. Otherwise this was an excellent stay!

Said it would be a king bed and two fulls, the king bed was actually a queen.
