Have stayed here a few times after a long travel day. Never had any issues, not expecting much since it's Van Horn. This time there were stains on the floor, seemed extra dirty. The one thing that is bothersome is you now Have no customer service by the front desk anymore. A man at the FRONT DESK literally points you to a kiosk where a man from India pops up on the screen and wants all your information. You would think with Van Horn being as small as it is that they would want to have local workers actually talk with their customers. read more

Possibly the worst hotel in the choice hotel chain. I was informed by the clerk when I checked on that my vehicle could be towed by the owners of the hotel because I had a trailer and was taking up more than two spots. The hotel had approximately seven guests. There was more than enough room to park my vehicle trailer in all out of the way we're no one would be inconvenienced. I was told that I had to park it off of the hotel property in an unlit dirt parking area and walk back to the hotel. I have never had an issue like this. DO NOT STAY HERE EVER!!!!! read more

We made our own waffle which came out shaped like Texas! The kids loved it and so did I! The eggs, hash browns, cereal and fruit were great to have. COVID-19 Review. After a pretty sad night in Phoenix at the first hotel I booked, I was a bit nervous about Quality Inn in Van Horn especially based on the surrounding Van Horn area. Although check in took a little too long, rooms were spacious, clean, well stocked with coffee and tea items. The bathroom was a tad on the small side, but having the counter/sink outside the bathroom was a big help with getting ready. Beds were fairly comfortable as well. We were on the bottom floor and could hear our upstairs neighbors walking around and using the shower. Also, someone walked by smoking several times and each time, the air unit immediately brought in the smell of cigarette smoke which wasn't my favorite. My only other complaint was that it was pretty loud during the night with highway traffic. The breakfast at this hotel was pretty good. They had a buffet which was either grab and go or had a few tables spaced out for distancing. We chose to sit and eat and were the only ones the whole time we had breakfast. Check out was a breeze and we were on our way. Overall, ok for one night. read more

This is a four star motel - rated not for the luxury level - but for a motel where you just need a clean room to stay, hot water for your bath/shower, decent continental breakfast, fridge/freezer, TV to get the news, and wifi catch up on your social connections. We found the staff to be courteous - they seem to be available at the desk all the time. It is right off of I-10, easy to find. We had a great experience. It was the only hotel not booked at 2am and we were exhausted. I am usually extremely picky with hotels and will NEVER stay at one with the doors being outside, but I would totally come back here. The bed was comfy, tons of tv channels for my son. The only down fall is the small bathroom. Made it hard to give my son a bath, but other than that it was a great stay and I would totally suggest it to anyone on a budget! We booked online and the night check in employee was nice and quick to get us a room. The room was spacious and clean. The shower....ahhhhhh the shower! Small-ish but the water pressure was outstanding!! What a nice, invigorating shower! Breakfast was served until 9:30, we showed up at 9:10 and it was broken down and closed already. The young man told us that it was after 10, that they're in the Central time zone. Since we're traveling from Orlando to California, our phones automatically change time zones. Needless to say, we were a little disappointed. But we found a hole in the wall next door that was delicious! read more

I was driving from Phoenix Arizona to Dallas Texas, and all that time on the road got me a little weary. I used Siri to ask for hotels near me on the I 10, and this hotel popped up. It is an older style hotel. Pretty standard fare for a sleep and go along the I 10. The beds were made nice and tight, the room was spotless, and it had a 42 inch high definition television and also the refrigerator, freezer, a microwave, coffee maker, and even when on high, air-conditioner honestly wasn't that loud. The parking lot is very well lit. On the other side of the fence is a well lit Chevron gas station. I negotiated a price with tax for a double room during the week of $72. I felt that was a good value. If my drive back from Dallas goes the same way, I may well stay here again. Also, the young lady at the front desk was very polite, and was more than helpful. read more

A few stains here and there but it was fine with me. I loved that there was no noise level even being located next to the highway. Just checked my credit card statement for another reason and noticed the hotel charged a $50 fee in addition to my nights stay on my CC. I called the hotel and they billed me $50 for the door that was off the hinge. Something that was preexisting. I told the hotel I reported to corporate in my survey of the hotel. I had reservations through Hotels.com and checked in after 3:00PM. I was given a Non Smoking King room. I opened the door and didn't even go in. The room smelled like an ashtray. I went to the front desk and was given another room 4 doors down. It was not even cleaned properly. The sink still had stains from the previous guest. Someone got in a fight and knocked a hole in the shower stall and the patch job looked like something my 3 year old great granddaughter would do. The room felt really damp. I stayed in this hotel and I was pretty happy. The beds were soft and the blankets were awesome! The food was good but the eggs were a bit cold. There were about 15 hornet nests above the entrance though. The bathroom was pleasant and the room fit me and my family. I would recommend this hotel but don't eat the eggs. read more

Doors open to the outside, making this a motel, but honestly the noise wasn't that bad even with I-10 being a few yards away. (We did request and receive a room toward the back.) Breakfast was actually, surprisingly, the best I've had at a hotel. Eggs, sausage, and scrumptious roasted, crispy, well-seasoned potatoes, then you could top all that with shredded cheese, real bacon bits, and diced ham. Plus, they've got a Texas shaped waffle maker, yogurt, fruit, pastries and bagels, and your typical juice machine. The coffee machine was yummy. I opted for the iced version... but there was no ice anywhere. Whatever. It was still good, and the flavored creamers made it better. There's also a large, clean restroom available in the lobby if you're checked out and need it after breakfast before leaving. The room itself was large, and included a couch and a small table. The bed was firmer than I like and the pillows are those small square shaped ones, which I'm not gonna lie, did kind of suck. The bathroom was fine, with the sink in the room like you find in this price range. It felt very clean, and you know, updated within the last 5 years or so. It also happened to be the cheapest hotel that had more than 3.5 stars from reviewers on Hotels.com in Van Horn that night, so, yeah, not a bad experience at all. read more

First off let me say this hotel is plain and simple and clean. My review is based upon the manner in which the business operates. We were driving from Chicago to our new home in Arizona and due to Winter Storm Goliath we were only able to drive 180 miles in 5 hours from Midland, TX to Van Horn, TX. Thankfully we reserved a room at this Quality Inn and there was an available room. Upon arrival and before we could receive our motel key, we were forced to sign a piece of paper that the desk person said her manager created due to a power outage from the night before. Apparently the night before we got there, the hotel lost power and heat and there were angry customers. I would imagine so. We were forced to sign a piece of paper that said if the power went out again or we lost heat, we would NOT be refunded any monies paid. Also, the amount for the room was quoted at $142 with tax and looking online their rates are typically $80-$90. So in order to stay in this hotel we had to pay $50+ due to the storm and the lack of other options because so many people were stranded. We do not appreciate this behavior and being bullied to pay for something, even if what we are paying for cannot be provided safely. I am thankful we had power and heat all night long, however the hair dryer didn't work and the enamel on the shower is wearing away. We will never stay at this hotel again nor will we tell people about it, on a matter of principle. I would hope that you would treat people better when they are in need. read more

(Bring your own pillow unless you like extra mega firm pillows) I might have recommended it as a clean & comfortable place to stop & rest on the long drive down I-10... BUT... At 6:15am, loud music started blaring from the speakers in the stairwell outside my door. (Peewee Herman tune nonetheless!) The polite front desk staff didn't know how to turn it off. Ugh! It all depends......be sure to ask. We stayed at the Quality Inn of Van Horn once before, and were satisfied. So we booked a room online when we were travelling through town again. When we checked in, the desk clerk told us that our room was on the 2nd floor. Bummer...they don't have an elevator. Due to an early start, we had arrived early - 3:30pm. I asked, "Since we didn't know we had a 2nd floor room until we got here, isn't there another guest who doesn't know he has a 1st floor room? Maybe you could give that 1st floor room to us and give the 2nd floor room to them." No use. Overnight we had freezing rain, and it made the east side stairways very slick. When we went down to breakfast I told the desk clerk. We lived up north, and we can deal with slippery footing, but I could see an unsuspecting southerner kill themselves on those steps. (They hadn't addressed the ice by the time we left an hour later.) All said, at $88 for a first floor room we were satisfied enough to return. At $119 for a 2nd floor walk-up, no way. Be sure to ask which floor they are going to assign you to. We forgot. read more

A really unpleasant experience at this hotel, but not so much I'd avoid at all costs (this is why a two star rather than one star). The good: The room was mostly clean but the bed covers stank really, really badly. The breakfast was okay. Nothing fancy but I've had better at other quality inns. Now the bad: Entire site is very poorly maintained. The stairs are buckling in a way that someone is bound to get injured on. THE DOOR KEYS DO NOT WORK. After 8 (!!) trips down to front desk to replace keys the lady at the front desk came to the room. Apparently you have to try each key over and over again. Eventually (like after 10-15 swipes) it will unlock. She said it is because "sand gets into the locks" but I've stayed in desert hotels before and this has never been an issue. The lady at the front desk was nice but clearly overworked. She was the same person who was here when we called that day at 1 pm. She was there when we checked in at 9, and was still there at 1030 pm and was still working at 9 am the next morning. Are the owners of this hotel breaking labor laws? read more

So, I NEVER write reviews on Yelp, ever. So I am currently staying in this hotel as i write the review. I can look past the horrible carpet and gloomy feel the old green couch gives off, no big deal AT ALL. It was very dark in the room so i try turning on a couple of lamps, bulbs are blown in a few so I am left with a half lit dark room, still no big deal to me. Then i jump in the shower and see black hair stuck to the wall inside the shower ( i hope it was a head hair). Still it doesn't phase me enough to write a review. I get out to brush my teeth and a fly lands on my head, For $90 roughly you dont expect much, but come on man!! read more

This is an interesting place. The staff is super friendly, but the hotel does not live up to reviews I've read elsewhere. It's very noisy, the walls are thin and the people upstairs are walking back and forth so heavily. I didn't even need my alarm to wake me up since the people above me were so loud! This is a great hotel for West Texas. The hotel was clean, modern, and well stocked with all the amenities such as conditioner, mouthwash, soap, etc. New tv w/ HDMI input so you could watch movies off of your computer. Very comfortable beds and safe secure location ensured a good nights rest. The continental morning breakfast was good and featured hot eggs and sausage as well as the standard bread items. Only complaint is an extremely slow wifi connection. We got a room here for $80, and as a member of a touring rock bandI think it was worth the extra $30 to get the 2 star quality inn room here as opposed to the many one star hotels in this town on priceline. read more

The room is clean, besides the flies. They've got clean sheets and a clean bathroom/vanity. However, there were flies throughout the room and dead ones in the window sill. As time went on, they seemed to disappear which was both comforting and terrifying. There is a Dollar General across the street that sells fly swatters, which can turn into a fun competition! Overall, it matched our expectations for the hotel quality and location. read more

I expect clean rooms and clean bedding and towels etc. the check in was easy as usual but the person at the front desk was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good and even though we were late the ladies were very easy going and friendly, no hurry no worry.we ate all we wanted and were on our way. We will stop here again on our way back traveling east. I am tempted to give 5 stars but very few hotels are perfect. read more

Excellent service, good sleeping arrangements, good room. Breakfast was eggs, sausage, potatoes, and pancakes. Staff was very good - even had one staff (Dan) give me a quick ride in his personal vehicle when we had car issues. Highly recommend - we will stay there the next time we are in Van Horn. read more
