I would not want to spend a week because it's not like there's a lot to do in Van Horn, but if you want a very comfortable and welcoming place to stay for the night, this is where you want to pull in. Level dirt lot with pull through spots. Nice clean bathrooms and showers along with free WiFi and laundry. Staff is very friendly and helpful. This not Paradise but it's the next best thing for a good night's rest. read more

We have been traveling through this area for several years experiencing the pain of Goat head stickers. This is the first RV Park where zero stickers were found! We were in this RV park overnight and woke up with a flat tire. I think it was leaking already and the cold snap did it in. We found our tire at a local store but had no way of getting it back to our RV. The person working in the front took my husband to the tire shop in his truck, and helped bring the tire back to our RV. So thankful to him! read more

Good Sam Life Member here. Recommend Moses and his families somewhat recently acquired park. Clean and Fresh outside. Restrooms and showers spotless! Makes for another night stay... which we did... because our truck had a fuel issue. Moses recommended a couple of mechanics. Between those two we got to the bottom; ordered a part at Napa.. and Juan at KM did an excellent repair. We also discovered that they are a Vintage Aluminum Approved Park and a Campendium Noticed location. Give this place a try. We travel through so will be back. Dog friendly thank you. Wi-Fi works so we could pop on a little here and there between walking around and exploring the old town. Not much to do right in town but the Hotel El Capitan is excellent for dinner. Not much friendly Texas hospitality here. Called to move the date of my reservation which was several days out, and the man on the phone said there is no refunds or changes to your reservation after 24 hours from when you made it. I asked him if they could make an exception as I still wanted to stay there and they refused. I will say they do disclose it in the fine print in your reservation. But on the same breath I feel this "cannot cancel after 24 hours of making it" is very non-standard and atypical what RV parks do as a general rule. I'd avoid this place, as I this could be the tip of the iceberg, possible other negative surprises around the corner if you stay here. I just found it amazing how hard they fought so hard to keep $32, when I could have given them more money in revenue if they just honored my request and I stayed there the next day and patronized them, which I asked. Very short sighted and myopic. Fought to take the slice when you could have gotten more of the cake. I told the man on the phone after my change and refund refusal I would be leaving many 1 star reviews on the various platforms and he replied "Go ahead and do what you want!" Again, the disregard for customer service and satisfaction is very apparent and up front in their poor behavior. Let marketplace selection teach them the consequence of their failures. We got here and used our Passport America discount paying only $14 for the night which was well worth it. The spots were large and there was a lot of room between them. THere was also free cable! A kind gentleman named Moises and his wife Lully own this RV park. Moises greeted me upon arrival and we walked to the office so I could check-in. He asked for my name and then began writing it in a large book. It immediately became clear that there was no record of my reservation. This was quite surprising given that I had called 2 months earlier to make one! Luckily there were plenty of spaces available. Moises had mentioned that they bought the park recently so perhaps they are just learning the ropes. He has added a nice dog park and planted quite a few trees. We stayed in dirt pull-through full hookup site #41 and it was level. Good water pressure and the 50+ cable channels were nice. At first the free wifi was slow but on our last day it suddenly became blazingly fast. It turns out that a fiber wifi system upgrade was completed on our checkout date, so this should bode well for future guests. My AT&T phone had 2 bars and the hotspot wifi worked ok. Park bathrooms and private showers were super clean. Office has books so we donated a few of ours for others to enjoy. The McDonald Observatory and Guadalupe Mountains National Park are about an hour away from this park. We visited both during our stay and they were awesome. Warning: loud trains blow past this place 24 hours a day so make sure to bring your earplugs! read more

This is a nice park for an overnight stay when traveling I-10. It's flat gravel for parking. The bathrooms were clean. Hooks ups were fine. The freeway noise did not bother us. There is a train nearby but we didn't hear it during the night. We were happy with our stay. read more

Great place for overnight or a couple days. Good price, very sweet woman at check in. Dog run. Showers/bathroom is clean. Has laundry on-site. Only down fall, if you have pets there are some stickers that can get stuck in their paws if you don't stay on the gravel. Oh, and this city/town is a ghost town on Sunday. Pretty much everything is closed except Wendy's and mc donalds. read more

The only reason I'm not giving this a v is that it's just a bearing piece of dirt with a few trees here and there but otherwise I would stop here again it is a Passport America 1350 a night on passport and they let you stay 3 nights and $0.50 if you use a credit or debit card so 14 bucks a night but they got great cable and I went to Fort Davis from here we went to Carlsbad from here we went to the Guadalupe Mountains from here which I was also a national park and just kept coming back to the spot to head out for the next day so I highly recommend through Texas anywhere in this area I'd stop nice people in the office nice laundry room very nice laundry room read more

Stopped off at this park to see if we would fit and space was available. Staff was very nice, Gave us a spot to look at, but it did not work for us since we were 40 ft coach with a 30 ft trailer. Several class A's in the park with tots and OK to stop for the night. gravel no pads. They take Passport America and regular rate is $25 so you stay for $14 with PA. Cheap park for an overnight stay. We were passing through Van Horn & needed a place to stop for the night. Desert Willow was perfect. I called a few hours out and was greeted on phone by a man (sorry I don't remember his name) but really appreciated his excitement and gratitude we were coming, Like a friend waiting for us. It was perfect. Full hook ups, free Wifi & Cable TV. Everything worked well. Bathrooms and lots are clean and well lit. I agree, If you are looking for a "Resort" this is not one. Easy on and off Interstate 10. We will stop here again and highly recommend. Accept Passport and other RV discounts, can't beat it. read more

If you are just passing through Van Horn & need a place to stop for the night this place is perfect & suited our needs quite well. You cannot beat the price! Full hook ups, free Wifi & CTV with 49 channels. Everything worked well. I had been trying to back up my iPhone & iPad at the other RV resorts that we had stopped at which had Wifi & could not do it. I was able to back up both devices at Desert Willow RV Park very quickly & we were able to use our android TV box & watch whatever we wanted on our TV. If you are looking for a "Resort" this is not one, but 5 stars for giving us exactly what we needed with ease & convenience. Teddy in the office should be noted for her friendly & helpful nature. Very glad we stopped here on the way to Guadalupe Mountains. There are two adjacent areas of sites available; the first, for medium sized rigs is in front of the office, the second has large pull through sites for really long rigs and tows. It is just across the lane. The bathrooms and showers appear to be new and are exceptionally clean. Best of all, the toilets are all comfort height in spacious stalls. Free WiFi and cable tv. The cost of a night's rental is more than reasonable. Easy access to service station with diesel and return to highway. For a nice dinner in lovely surroundings go to the historic El Capitan Hotel. read more

Very basic campground with level dirt and gravel sites. This was just an overnighter for us, so I can't rate the amenities. The cable worked fine for us. The woman at the office, Teddy, is friendly. She and I had a nice long conversation. We had a site with full hook ups in the main campground, but they have an overflow area across the road. read more
