Such a nice hotel in the beautiful spot, quiet area of Wengen. The hotel was clean, tons of great fresh air and views from every corner. The owners were so nice and the sauna, the game room, the lounge area, were all so quaint and a nice way to unwind after a long day of hiking and adventures around Switzerland. I've stayed at other places nearby before, around Lauterbrunnen, but this place really tops it off and I love how peaceful it is, close enough to the main center of town and restaurants and shops, but far enough to get your peace and quiet, all just a walk away. read more

This hotel is very clean and comfortable. They have a fantastic staff, especially Thomas who always had suggestions for the best hiking in the area. The owners were fantastic and planned extra entertainment for us during the Cheese Festival that took place during our visit. We selected the half board during our stay and the food is excellent here. We enjoyed every meal they prepared and always offered alternative selections if desired. read more

If you're still having trouble deciding on lodging, BOOK THIS PLACE NOW. You will NOT regret it. I took a solo trip to Wengen in the summer of 2022 (yes, I do realize it's taken me forever to write this review, but know that's on me, with no relation to how much I adored this place!). I have traveled to many different places around the world, and this trip is my FAVORITE experience I've had, still to this day. And, I honestly believe in LARGE part was because of the choice I made in lodging. I was only in Wengen for a very short time (4 days, 3 nights), but I also went having made no plans, and strategically picked a place that would be hospitable, so that I could just ask the owners for their advice, as I believe locals have a much better perspective than someone who is learning everything through the internet/books. Tomas went above and beyond. He helped sort out my itinerary for the day at the beginning of each day, and took into account things that I would enjoy, and was really good about timing too, like filling my day with hikes/sights and then gave me just enough time to get back for dinner. He did this quickly, thoroughly, and clearly. Sara also was such a delight, always greeting me warmly in the morning, and even giving me a hug goodbye when I ran into her at the supermarket before leaving Wengen. The breakfasts and dinners here were top notch. The place really felt like a home away from home, which I especially appreciated, since I was traveling alone. I loved being able to come back sore and exhausted from the day's scenic activities, take a hot shower in their SUPER clean room, and then shuffle down to dinner all relaxed and in my comfy clothes. I also really loved that they had these lounge rooms where I could relax in the evenings, and have a hot tea before bed. They even had a piano in the other room, which I would've played on, had I had more time there! I also loved being able to wake up early in the morning, relax in the quiet of the morning on the balcony, and hear nothing but birds chirping and cowbells. It's amazing how the sound of quiet is so rare, especially when we live in cities with the constant buzz of cars or highways in the distance. I will forever cherish my time in Wengen. We stayed at Hotel Edelweiss in September 2021 and February 2023. We got engaged in Wengen and loved it so much we wanted to come back for part of our honeymoon as well. Daniel, Tomas, and the rest of the staff are fantastic. I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else. They really care about the guest experience and go the extra mile. Where do I even begin with this magical place? Let's start with location. This place is situated on the side of a mountain with an amazing view of the surrounding peaks and also the lower Lauterbrunnen valley. You can't beat it. It is also so close to the center of town near the train station and other shops and a couple of grocery stores. The walk up to the center of town is steep, but there are some stairs you can take that make walking (without luggage) much easier. The staff of this hotel are impeccable. We were greeted from check in with a wonderful orientation of the hotel and the surrounding area and things to do. The lady that checked us in was SO nice. The same staff that works the check-in desk also works in the restaurant at breakfast and dinner and are very nice. Daniel was so wonderful! The food...the food was so great. The menu for dinner is different every night and if you don't think you will like the main course you can opt for an alternate choice or fondue. We had never had fondue before and it was delicious. We ate here 4 out of our 5 nights and were SO PLEASED with the quality of the food. We went out of our comfort zone as some of the food options were not things I would have normally ordered at a restaurant and it was so good! The price was great for a four-course dinner, especially in this area. The breakfast we had every morning was excellent. There were cheeses, meats, breads, eggs, yogurts, jams, and coffee. The town of Wengen is so charming and there are no cars so you walk everywhere and it was just lovely. The staff of the hotel were very knowledgable about the area and different things to do, such as hiking, visiting Trummelbach, and the Top of Europe. They were so helpful in telling us what days would be better to do certain things with the weather forecast and you could tell the staff genuinely wanted us to enjoy our entire stay in the Jungfrau region. The room - our room was spacious and I swear we had the best room in the whole place. We had a view of Eiger and our balcony was so big that it wrapped around two sides of our room. The room and bathroom was very clean and had lots of closet space. We had some laundry done there and it came back folded perfectly. The beds were comfortable, as well. In conclusion, we had the BEST time here and cannot wait to stay here again. We were so sad to leave! read more

We were here for Christmas last year and I loved every second of it. Daniel was a great host who always made sure we were comfortable. He helped us with finding things around town and what we can do to ski the alps. He also held little Christmas events that made my Christmas, like mulled wine by the fire. The rooms were very nice and cozy and were the perfect sizes for my sisters and I. We also used the sauna multiple times and it was a great way to relax. Christmas Eve dinner here was amazing and they truly did everything to make us have a great Christmas. I miss not going back this year but I definitely recommend this place if you stay at Wengen. read more

Our stay here was great, I would highly recommend it. The room was simple, but cozy. We had breakfast and dinner here every day, they had a good selection of food, I enjoyed eveeything. My only caution is that they do not have Air Conditioning I. The rooms, so if you are like me, you would only be able to stay here in the cooler months. I kept Our balcony door open 24/7 to keep the room cool. Our stay here was very pleasant. Our balcony had great views. The staff was outstanding. One of the things that stood out to me was that they had fresh water at each dinner table each night, never had to ask for water. Next time I'm back in the area, I will be staying here again. The hotel is located down hill from the train station a 5-10 minute walk. I walk slow. read more

best place to stay for swiss hiking!! My mom and I stayed at the Hotel Edelweiss for a 3-day hiking trip in the area. Wengen is the perfect place to stay to hike in the area. The town doesn't have cars, which makes it much more quaint and quiet than Lauterbrunnen or Grindelwald. It's also very central for hiking both up towards Kleine Scheidegg, and over towards Mürren (take the train down to Lauterbrunnen first). We got into the hotel at midnight, in the pitch dark, and could easily find our way down to the (steep) road to the hotel, about a 5 minute walk. Wengen also has an outdoor public swimming pool, about 10 min walk from hotel, with views of the mountains! The hotel itself is can't be better--especially because of the friendliness and expertise of Daniel and Susanne. They recommended hikes to us that made the visit absolutely spectacular. Our first day we said we wanted to do a longer hike, and they suggested something a little bit off the "beaten path," in the sense that we only saw maybe 10-15 other hikers, rather than one of the more popular, easier paths. we had amazing mountain views, were alone most of the time, and it was exactly the difficulty/length we wanted. They had great tips for people, according to their various needs and abilities. The hotel breakfast is super super good, with traditional Swiss breakfast foods (Bircher müesli, wonderful, fresh bread with jams, meats and cheeses...). The room was comfortable and had a SPECTACULAR view. We had dinner there one night, for fondue night, and it was really great. Again, Susanne and Daniel are SUPER friendly and will help make your stay really nice. I originally found the place because a friend recommended it, and the price seemed to be on the lower end for Wengen (although Switzerland is unavoidably expensive). We had a family group of nine people who stayed here, and we loved the Hotel Edelweiss. Our hosts, Daniel and Susanne, and former owner Martin, made us feel very welcome. They gave us great suggestions for hikes and activities. Our kids had fun at the playground right outside the hotel, and they liked the bunk beds in their room, which adjoined ours. We all had spectacular mountain views from our balconies. The hotel was immaculate and very comfortable, with fantastic views from all our rooms and nice public spaces for gathering both inside and out. The breakfasts and fixed-menu dinners were excellent. For the dinners, the chef was very accommodating in adjusting the menu for a vegetarian and for others in our group with various food requests. They offered prompt laundry service -- we gave them clothing to be washed in the morning and it was returned to us by early evening. We found a very comfortable, relaxing, and friendly atmosphere at the Hotel Edelweiss and we would definitely come again. read more
