I really wanted to enjoy my experience at this restaurant-- I had literally NEVER had a better view at a restaurant before. The view of the mountains was breathtaking. My husband and I stopped here on a day trip to Murren. We planned to have a small snack before hiking down to Lauterbrunnen. The waiter was courteous and friendly, but I truly feel like I was swindled out of my money at this restaurant. I am quite frankly still upset about it. We ordered fondue with just bread, which was already overpriced at 26 francs. But all of the food in Switzerland was overpriced, so it was fine. However, when we got the bill, we were charged fondue for two people, that's two charges of 26 francs, a total of 52 francs for one pot of fondue and some bread. It's absolutely absurd! On top of that, I honestly did not enjoy the taste of the fondue-- it had a really alcoholic flavor about it. My husband actually said he thought it tasted like it had a hint of manure about it. So neither of those flavors is exactly what I think anyone is looking for in their cheese. The point is that the menu DID NOT say anything about 26 francs per person-- if it had, then I would understand them charging us for two. I even double-checked the menu after getting the bill. I regret not requesting more information from the waiter about the extra charge or making a complaint about it. We didn't want to seem like stupid American tourists, so we just paid it and left, bitter. But it seems like a scam on unsuspecting tourists. Perhaps this is how all fondue is charged-- I wouldn't know, because this fondue experience was enough to scare me away from it for the rest of our trip. It just felt like scam, a ploy to double-charge us for something so not worth that much money-- it's effing bread and cheese, for Christ's sake! And the cheese had the funkiest after-taste. I would highly discourage anyone from ordering it. Yes the view is amazing, but that's about it. read more
