7/13/2024 - we arrived by a lift and the hotel had a person there to direct us to the short hotel walk and brought all our luggage to the hotel for us. If we had a party of one. The hotel is worth every penny. The hotel rooms are nice, much space downstairs to separate you from other guests, easy access to the lift and you get a free breakfast Buffett. See photos. Will add more later. This isn't a cheap place. Our room is $800 a night. I'm Not sure why it has only three $ instead of $$$$$$ WTF. Well, it is worth the money to come here once and see the beauty. Take a deep breath, bring the camera, and look at the wonders of Mother Nature. Imagine things how the whole planet use to be. Great hotel and service. 5 stars once again. Breakfast was excellent and the scrambled eggs were a delight. They bring coffee to you which makes 4 small cups of coffee.

My family stayed here in a lovely room with room for 5. It had a nice balcony/terrace where we enjoyed a few meals with gorgeous views of the Alps. The breakfast provided each day was excellent, with many seating options indoors and outdoors (we always sat outdoors because of covid, but it's clearly the superior seating anyway as the views of the mountains cannot be beat). Breakfast includes many types of fresh bread, cereals, fruit, meats, yogurt, and multiple types of milk (my family is vegan, so we appreciated them providing oat, soy, and almond milk). The staff were so friendly and helpful and knew our regular coffee orders by our second day (you can order espresso drinks as well as oatmeal/porridge on request). The hotel is right across from the train station to get you anywhere. It's a ~13 min ride to the cable car down to Lauterbrunnen, which we took most days. Mürren is a lovely town with many hikes in and around it. Highly recommend staying here!!

Beautiful hotel with a spectacular view. The entire team is very friendly and accommodating. We were celebrating my dad's birthday and the restaurant staff decorated the table and sang to him. The meal and service at the restaurant was outstanding (white glove service). Shoutout to our server Stella for being kind and helpful. The managers of the restaurant walked around and chatted with each table. They were very attentive and the food was delicious. Their homemade French dressing was to die for! Jonathon gave us all massages in the spa area and it was one of the better massages I've ever had. I feel relaxed and rejuvenated after my 3 day stay!

Hotel Eiger and everyone that worked there that I encountered were beyond amazing! I cannot wait to go back and have plans to do so regularly in the future. I went a few months back for my birthday at the end of August and early September 2021. The suite was beautiful and the view even more so! The location is perfect and the restaurant and bar there where I had my birthday dinner were delicious. The bartenders were great, Stefan especially so! Thanks again Stefan, we look forward to seeing you on our next trip! The hospitality of the staff was so wonderful and welcoming. I did NOT want to leave this place. If you are deciding where to stay in Mürren, look no further... nothing about this place will disappoint. I wish I could load my videos on here to show it all! I love you Hotel Eiger, see you again soon! :)

Didn't stay here but popped in for lunch. Sat by the window taking in the views. Was one of the few places serving full meals on the off season. We had some local wine but chose poorly. I got a small sandwich and a salad and that pretty much became my go to meal for the rest of the trip. My wife got some pasta and it was a hearty portion. The staff were very attentive and the food was solid. A great lunch choice if you want to eat in the area.

Easy walk from the town and the other station for the tram to the valley. Breakfast was included with our stay and the spread was impressive. Also, there is a spout right outside the front door for fresh alpine water! Truly is the most delicious water ever. Will definitely stay here again when we visit! Highly recommend it!

As an engineer, I'm always focused on what can be improved so let's begin with the bad list: (1) No lift or elevator so if you're elderly, handicapped, or injured it won't be much fun. (2) There's no air conditioning so our room was uncomfortable in the 81°F temperature. There are no fans in the rooms and no window screens to keep bugs out so there aren't many options out there to stay cool. (3) The 220 volt switches that controlled the light fixture and exhaust fan in the bathroom were located within the shower stall. There's no planet in our solar system where that would be considered safe as these are not GFCI protected circuits. (4) Some of the 220 volt receptacles in our room had wall plates that would spin which made it difficult to plug into. (5) The filter on our bathroom exhaust fan revealed a lack of maintenance. (6) My room included a chain smoker on the next balcony over so I was unable to enjoy any time on the balcony. There were good things too but just not enough to elevate us out of the 2-star rating: (1) The views from the mountain side were stunning but we mainly have God to thank for that rather than the hotel. (2) The bacon cheeseburgers in the restaurant were very good although expensive. (3) The staff were kind, friendly, helpful, and skilled.

Waking up to those mountain views is a dream, and the convenience of being right in Mürren makes exploring the area super easy. That said, the front desk experience left something to be desired. The woman working during our stay was noticeably curt, and even simple requests (like borrowing a pen or asking about hotel logistics) felt like a major inconvenience. It didn't ruin the trip by any means, but it did put a damper on the overall hospitality experience.

I would suggest getting a room with a view as on a clear day the view from your hotel room cannot be beat. Each day our stay included breakfast which started promptly at 7 a.m. The breakfast is a buffet and is very good. They have a variety of breads, eggs, sausage, bacon yogurt,, and fruit. It also includes your choice of coffee drink. We tried the half board one night and I would have to say it was just ok. Nothing special. One thing I liked about hotel is that they have a golf cart and took our luggage down to the train station for us in the morning. Overall, I would recommend the hotel. It is simple, the rooms are small but fine, and the breakfast is very good.

After a moderate mountainside hike from Mürren we followed the signs, little yellow ones that mimic the Swiss hiking signs, to Pension. As soon as you step into the back patio you are blown away at the setting. For us (mid-September) the plants were lush, the sun was shinning, and the temps were perfect - all made for an incredible time. Find yourself a little table and grab a brew from the bar inside (which in-and-of itself was fantastically old school tavern/inn). If you're hungry they have brats and kraut served outside. Wonderful! Order a beer, pay in cash (trust me, it just feels more fun), and enjoy a beer in the perfect spot in Jungfraur region.

While it's a "hotel" it felt more like a very high quality, homey, and personable BnB. We booked the suite (would've fit 2 adults and 2 kids) because we decided last minute (3 days) to do an ad hoc trip to Murren due to great recommendations from friends and coworkers. It was a bit pricy but we bit the bullet because it was just so highly rated. First, the staff at the hotel were just so incredibly nice and friendly! She noticed we were only 2 people and offered to just lock the door to the room with the bunk beds and give us a cheaper rate! She also walked us through what was in the area, and gave us great trail recommendations (we went on the one she suggested and it was exactly what we were looking for). The room itself (at least the suite) looked like an apartment - when you enter there's a small hallway with a bathroom on the right, a few steps later the main bedroom is on the left, with a second bedroom with what I assume are the bunk bed on the right (we couldn't confirm since it was locked). Everything was beautifully decorated, pristine, spacious and just perfect. Connected to the master bedroom is a small balcony - and WOW! The views were absolutely spectacular. It felt unreal - from the trees, to the vast mountains in the distance that varied from green terrains to snowy white. There's also a small restaurant downstairs ran by the same owners as the hotel serving homemade Swiss food that was easily the best restaurant food we've had this entire trip (but that's for another review :P). They also served continental breakfast which was a blend of amazing pastries, fresh fruits, juices, cured meats, cereals and more. I love love LOVE this place and only wish we could've stayed longer. If you're in Murren this is definitely the place to stay at!

We found out after our arrival that this appears to attract almost exclusively readers of Rick Steve's guides (admittedly this is how we found out about it, too). However, it turns out this demographic is largely retired people. While one couple our age was there, meals were shared with a group who had been making an annual pilgrimage since retirement and an Australian couple just passing through. Tim did a great job communicating the possibility that dinner would not be cooked if Walter (the proprietor) didn't feel well or not enough people requested it, so it was no surprise when we needed to find our own meal at the pension down the street on the first night. Tim also let us rent hiking poles (which turned out to be essential) very cheaply, and while we ended up on a bit of an ambitious hike considering our fitness level, we felt very prepared with Tim's advice and the map he drew. There were no private rooms when we booked, but Tim let us take two beds in the quad room, which he kindly pushed together. No one rented the other two beds, but I wasn't sure whether Tim purposefully blocked them off for us or they just weren't filled. Either way, the view from the balcony was beautiful! The cows across the street wore bells that sounded like wind chimes, so for us city folk it was a happy medium between mountain quiet and street noise. There are about 3-5 other B&B/pension/hostel-type establishments in the village part of Gimmelwald. Hotel Mittaghorn is a 5-minute walk uphill beyond the village (or 10-15 with luggage taking the longer but paved and less steep route). The entire village consists of about 20 buildings: 3-5 B&B/pension/hostels, and then a bunch of cottages and barns. I'd return to Gimmelwald and Hotel Mittaghorn but I might split up my stay to see what the other places in the village are like.
