They ensured us pillows would arrive promptly but after 15 minutes still no pillows. On another occasion we wanted to pay and asked for the bill, but had to wait for more than 20 minutes. We went inside to ask to pay but we had to wait for the waiter for another 10 minutes. Altogether it's sad to see such a beautiful place wasting it on their service.

The exterior is so 'art-deco'! It's like a 3D painting. Inside, the check in counter was friendly and fast and we were quickly routed to our room, a deluxe double room with one wall that was like an artist's opus. The bed was comfortable and made for a good night's sleep. There was no refrigerator or bar in the room. That was compensated for by the excellent bar near the restaurant. That's one thing about Dutch hotels - they almost always have a very 'gezellig' bar/cafe so that you don't need to spend your evening locked up in your room. In summary, comfortable stay, excellent wine bar, and approximate to everything Emmen has to offer.
