The hotel is situated in a small forest area so the settings are really nice. The hotel is part of the Eden / Hampshire chain. The reception is set in a modern style and the staff at the front desk are very friendly. The hotel has rooms that are single and double floor. The two floor rooms have OK space, but the layout is not optimal. The bathroom is on another floor than the bedroom. However the rooms are relatively modern with internet, TV on demand, ... The bathrooms are large and all the amenities are up to date, so very pleased. The beds are nice and comfortable and there is plenty of light overall a great experience. The hotel charges 10 EUR / night for internet, which is a bit much, and the speed is not exactly fast (had ~ 30kb/s on my connection).

Pretty much the only reason you would stay at this hotel was if you had business at the University. It is not close to the central part of Enschede and is a 15 euro trip by taxi away. So round trip, that can really add up. There are 2 different restaurants at the Eden. The one on the main floor has two sides. One side has a contemporary look and a fireplace and the other has an older style with wood accents. The Eden is one of the few places near the University that can host a large dinner. One night we had a buffet dinner at the other restaurant which was on a lower level. It had a small lift if you can't navigate the stairs. The downstairs restaurant is the same place where they serve the breakfast if you are staying at the hotel. It is on an honor system, so when you check out just let them know know many days you had breakfast there. So different from the US- it was wonderful that they were so trusting! The rooms were ok. We were on the main floor, and i have no idea if there was an elevator to get you to the upper floors as all I saw were stairs. The bathrooms were a little dated and the curtains in the room had some unknown stain spewed across them. But, overall, it was an ok place which was a 15 minute walk to the University. I don't think the Eden was spectacular, but out of the hotels near the University I think this is the best bet!
