Chose this hotel for myself and large group of business associates who travel to the area a few times a year. Checked in after dark and was told I was given a nice room. Woke up this morning to see I'm looking out over the garbage area with rodents and a parking lot. It looks more like a Motel 6 location than an upscale hotel. First and last time I'll stay at this place! read more

We enjoyed our stay here at the Chaco hotel. We stayed twice. Once on the way to Utah and again on the way home. They were so kind and accommodating. It can't go without mentioning that we were loading our car up after checking out and my daughter suddenly threw up all over the inside of the car and some right outside the entrance of the hotel driveway. They didn't hesitate to serve us. They brought over towels, trash bags, water and even let us go back to our room and shower to clean up. In the room they had extra towels, and even some sprite to give my daughter for her upset tummy. They sent us on our way with towels to keep just in case something happened on our long drive back home. Thank you hotel Chaco for your kindness and exceptional hospitality. We will be back! read more

Car was vandalized while in the care of their valet. It's apparently a recurring issue there with no fix. They park your car in a public lot, no security, no surveillance cameras. Hotel was not worth $300+ a night, certainly not worth $2000+ I'm out now. And they don't take any responsibility. NONE. And they still charged me for the 2 nights that I had to stay to get the car drivable to leave town. WOW. How messed up is that. Don't stay overnight. And don't work overnight there if you have to park your car. VERY IRRESPONSIBLE management. They help to destroy your car and then shrug their shoulders. read more

I'm reviewing the hospitality suite at hotel Chaco. It's a small event space for parties of about 50 or less. I've been here several times. The hotel requires that you purchase and serve their food if you rent this suite. However, the food is atrocious. Totally inedible. Rock-hard cold meatballs with a really bad flavor. Dry pork sandwiches on dryer, flat, cold mushed-up buns. The tiniest tacos I'd ever seen with a sprinkling of mystery meat and I think... pimento? With no cheese. They were just as tasty as they sound. Everything that was supposed to be hot was ice cold. The service was attentive. So much so, that they had us all packed up and ready to leave 10 minutes before our party was over. I don't know how many times I had to tell the server I was not finished with my drink or my cookie. (The cookies were great because we snuck them in ourselves.) She couldn't wait for us to leave, and made her feelings known. Her presence was intense and unwelcoming. For three hours she pestered us: constantly taking unfinished drinks and plates of food away. I felt awful sending away a plate full of food in front of my host who probably paid a lot of money for them. It was embarrassing, but I couldn't choke down the disgustingness. The suite itself is gorgeous. The views are epic. Just eat across the street at the food hall before you come. read more

Best hotel I've stayed at! Literally perfect. Love the design, the people, the hotel room. Definitely stay here if you can.

I don't know where to begin. What a beautiful hotel! I pulled up to the front and thankfully valet was free. Parking is a little confusing. I walked in and I felt like I was in a museum. It was AMAZING! I was greeted by the front desk, and brought a glass of ice water. I was then walked over to the elevator, while being shown where the computers and museum was. I walked in the room and WOW, it was beautiful! The pictures tell it all. Robes and slippers were provided, water, glasses, coffee maker and so much more. We had trouble with the fancy iron, but that didn't change anything. My favorite part was the beautiful bathroom and the patio. I think we could've had an outdoor happy hour out there! Lol I was very impressed. My husband and I walked around the courtyard at night and sat by the fire pit. It was so beautiful and peaceful that we forgot we were in Albuquerque. Everything about this place was perfect, and we will be back to stay again. Hopefully we will get a chance to check out the bar and pool area next time! read more

I stayed at the hotel for 3 nights and everything was amazing. The wine tasting on the 1st floor at "Crafted" was wonderful (along with the food we ordered), not sure what the hotel does nothing to promote this, I wouldn't have know it was there if I didn't see it on the internet. Every day the hotel provides complementary granola to your room, and it tasted so delicious, better than any other "homemade granola" that I've ever had. The granola was so good, I asked the front desk where I could purchase some to take home and was told that the hotel makes the granola fresh each day and it's not for sale (complete bummer). The food/cocktails at Level 5 was delicious, we ate breakfast and dinner there, along with a few stops to the Sawmill Market. The hotel is in an excellent location, we didn't need a car for anything. Plenty of restaurants in walking distance. The only disappoint was that we showed up for the 7:30am Walk that is advertised on the hotel's web page, only to learn after waiting for 10 minutes that the walk hasn't occurred for the past 6 months, I don't understand why the walk is still advertised. We also saw the advertisement on the TV screens while walking around the hotel that they served a light breakfast and espresso each morning in the lobby and when we showed up for it, we learned that the hotel hasn't offered a light breakfast in ages, again, why would this be advertised in the hotel, if it's not available? The hotel could have even more business if they openly advertised the "Crafted" bar within the hotel, if they sold the amazing granola in the gift store, or if they promoted the "nice, quiet, relaxing" atmosphere, as this hotel provided exactly what I was looking for and will stay there again the next time I'm in town, as it's the best hotel around. read more

Great, But Watch the "Resort" Fee Weary after a long flight from Baltimore, famished, irked by a GPS that couldn't find Hotel Chaco's Bellamah Avenue address, how dumb we felt for booking a hotel that had opened only in May, that, the advertising aside, seemed located not in the heart of Albuquerque's Old Town, two or three long blocks away, but on the lap of a desert. But "Oh," we said, as they asked to take our car and park it for free. "Wow," we said as two colossal doors opened upon a posh circular lobby. "We've upgraded you, to a deluxe king with balcony," said Matt at the desk. We gasped upon entering the room. It had not one but two balconies, furnished with sofas and side chairs, and wide and deep enough for a party. We looked up to the fifth floor restaurant with a cantilevered roof, then out upon the mountains, then down across a garden to a deep languid pool at least 100 feet long. As a couple of guests swam, a waiter circulated among the tables serving drinks and snacks. We examined the room. The designers, masters of hard lines and curves, had furnished the room, and a small sitting room to one side, with, at first glance, exquisitely finished natural stone and wood and wall fabrics. But no. None of the surfaces was Mother Nature's. They were fake, synthetic, simulated renditions of nature's, yet handsomer and tougher than hers. We thought the floor was bleached maple or beech, and that the limestone and slate had been mined. They were all made by man. Among the room's many touches was the reading lamp on each side of the bed. Imagine a five-inch-long fish stick or a fountain pan inserted vertically into a slot in the wall. Press the bottom of the stick. Hinged to the top of the slot, the lamp pops out. Twist and turn it to train a bright narrow beam on your book, not your bedmate. Here and there though, design overrules function. The bathroom sink is a hollowed out block of real or fake rock mounted like a salad bowl on the counter. Oddly, here in parched New Mexico, the sink does not have a stopper. We would have suggested a weighted rubber disk to lay over the drain. Matt and Nate on the front desk were quick, informed and responsive. On a Saturday night, they went to some effort to corral us a table for in the Rooftop restaurant. But the services still need some work. Curiously, the room provided one bathrobe, not two. To be sure we made our flight in the morning, we asked for a wake-up call. We never got it. As for that free valet parking, we felt deceived. We hadn't digested the notice of a $30 daily "resort fee" in the room confirmation email. The Chaco is no resort. It is a sleek, trendy, high-grade hotel. For this fee, we got the valet parking, plus Wi-Fi, bottled water in the room and access to the fitness center and pool--all things that most up and lower-scale hotels, too, cover in the rate for the room. Ours was about $250. read more

Ok, where should I start? First off this hotel is very aesthetically pleasing. The grounds are beautiful, and true to its New Mexican origins. When we arrived , the staff was very warm and welcoming. We travel with two awesome dogs, and they were treated as if they lived there. The staff was always courteous and on top of anything we needed. We had a room facing the courtyard. There was music lightly playing outside, so kept the door to the balcony open most of the time. The fountain is stunning. Did I mention...... clean clean clean! I will say the best part of our stay was Shanice and Nate. Every evening we'd sit in the lobby and play cards while sipping wine next to the fire place. These two are just the most gracious and kind people we've encountered in a very long time, in hospitality. They really went out of their way to make our stay special. Also, we feel like family now . Do yourself the pleasure staying here. You won't regret it. read more

It's really not worth it and it feels overpriced. I would not recommend. The decorations seemed offensive and not culturally correct.

Gorgeous brand-new hotel, with lively roof top restaurant. Valet is gracious and helpful. Walking distance to great museum and eateries. Decor is gorgeous. Bed was luxurious. There are definitely some growing pains management needs address, but this will happen with time hopefully: - Room and poolside service are super slow. - they need a lobby gift shop, currently guests must go to the neighboring hotel for extra toiletries and snacks - the mannequin perched in the lobby is really weird and out of place for a hotel with upscale ambitions (small detail) read more

It saddens me to give a review like this. I have been road tripping with my dog out of California to Florida to find a new place to live. I stopped in New Mexico for a few days and loved the hotel so much I extended my stay a week. Almost 2. But about a week and a half in items went missing from my car. I called the police with the help of the over night crew. A few hours later I went down to the front desk to ask the manager about it. He said no one broke into my car and that he did not have time to speak to me and the hotel and police would not take me seriously. So I took his advice and checked out. About 10 hours later (I'm in Texas at this point because I was asked to leave the hotel) the police call me and asked me about what happened. I was very confused as the manager said that because no windows got broken the police didn't care. Since then no one from the hotel has reached out to me. I am very hurt by being asked to check out four days early after having my car broken into. But my dog liked the hotel so that was nice. The management of the hotel ended up reaching out and and just denied any possibility of there being theft. And could not answer why there are no security cameras in the parking lot. I would be careful with this establishment as they have made it clear they do not care about the guests. read more

Easily THE most beautiful hotel room I have ever stayed in. The foyer was like a museum, with gorgeous decor and amazing art. The MOST comfortable bed on the PLANET!!! Lush, soft bedding and not too firm or too soft mattress. Spa level bathroom. The only criticism I have is we are not from Albuquerque and know nothing about the area or where to get food. With covid closing most eat-in places, it would have been helpful if we could have gotten some guidance on where to go or even info about room service at the hotel. All we were told (even after multiple questions) was that the "place across the street" was open. We absolutely would have stayed a second night if someone would have just made a suggestion. Otherwise an AMAZING hotel! read more

After 12 hours on the road from California, it was awesome to be greeted by a friendly valet Leo, who also helped us with our bags. When we walked into our room, I was like "WOW! We were in the junior suite. It was very spacious and clean, the layout was amazing. Leo was super helpful he retrieved ice, and extra blankets and suggested a couple of places within walking distance to eat. The entire staff were really nice. We will definitely stay here again next time we are in town! read more

Overall we had a great stay. The room was comfortable and immaculate. The staff was always accommodating and gracious. One employee in particular, Victor, is exemplary! Always lovely and pleasant...We had a bit of a snafu with our airport transportation and he jumped in and got it all sorted for us right away. Will definitely stay here again next time we visit Albuquerque. read more

We stayed here one night over Easter weekend. We had a mountain elopement and wanted to stay some where local and nice for our wedding night. From the time we checked and checked out was a 5 star experience. The hotel was so beautiful from the lobby to the rooms, to the pool. We couldn't of asked for a better hotel stay. The staff at check was so friendly and detailed at checkin. They also went above and beyond to get us a last minute reservation at Lvl 5 at their hotel. We will definitely be making this a staycation spot for us in the future. Location is also amazing with old Town and sawmill market right next door. read more

This hotel was amazing!! Upon arrival, the curb appeal is amazing. A lot of character. Very moderen. Definitely stands out there in Albuquerque. Most of the buildings give me an old town feel (which what they aim to do) and i wanted something a little bit more modern, so it was perfect. The lobby is very boutique & modern, & the staff is very friendly. This one young gentlemen walked us to the hotel, giving us recommendations etc guiding the way. We also got a room upgrade & the room was great!! Not one single complain what so ever. Shower was amazing, you just don't want to get out. The view from the restroom of the mountain is amazing!! love, love, loveeeeeeee. My favorite thing was that bed!! I felt like i was right at home! I never feel like this at any hotel, but that bed and those sheets are fab. 5 stars!! read more

My wife and I were impressed by the Hotel Chaco website and the offerings promised. The room price was higher than we usually spend, but we were really looking forward to our short Independence Day staycation! The visit started with an extended wait for a bellman and valet service that extended beyond 10 minutes with no staff interaction. A tremendous, friendly combination bellman/valet then arrived and took us to step 2 of our disappointment. Our room was nothing like the deluxe king with balcony shown online. It was a very nice room, but the balcony had only enough room for a single chair and small table, and the view was of a closed courtyard and NO mountains! Our bellman/valet then briefed us on our limited dining options (roof top brunch or room service), recommending that we go across the street to the Sawmill food court! After enjoying an undercooked burger served in a paper lined open basket, I called it to the bar supervisor's (he was managing the brunch) attention and he shared that he had called this to the kitchen's attention previously. We then headed to what we anticipated being the highlight of our stay: the pool. Our expectation ballon was then deflated further as our "boutique hotel" pool was shared by the sister hotel, the Hotel Albuquerque. During both days of our stay, there were no lounge chairs available to Chaco guests, as the sister hotel crowd had them monopolized. The crowd was loud and disruptive and the environment was one where the "wellness" of the "resort pool" resembled something more in line with a Motel 6. Furthermore, I saw no food service and the bar was cash only and consisted of canned mixed drinks and beer only....not a frozen pool side drink to be had! On dining in the evenings at Level 5 was quite pleasant. Service personnel were all outstanding and our steaks were very good. The mountain views were awe inspiring, only worsening our wish to have them from a room balcony that would hold both of us! On our second night, we ate early and returned for fireworks, with plans for a late room service snack before they closed at 10. As the fireworks wound down, we were informed that room service had closed at 930 and we had missed it. One of the bar waitresses sympathetically arranged an order of fries for us to ease that pain! After our first night, we inquired about the difference in our room vs the pictures online. The front desk told us that she would talk with "management" and that was all we heard until checkout. At that time, my wife and I were informed by the front desk and our bellhop/valet that "management" was aware that we were in the "worst room in the hotel" and we would receive a discount of $75 on our $500+ room. All in all, we had a disappointing experience at a facility with great potential. The hotel staff was excellent, but they are seemingly put in a position of apologizing for a seemingly endless series of disappointments at the pool and I room quality. They do a great job of making you feel cared for with everything very clean and prompt service. If they were to close access to the pool to the Chaco only (or reserve loungers and chairs for them), extend room service hours and rooftop bar hours beyond 10 pm and we had had a not fair room rate, this review could have been 5 stars! read more

I really wanted to like this place, but... Check in is at 4pm. I was graciously allowed to check in a couple of hours early which is great. I had to wait 10 minutes to check in because the only person at the desk was on the phone with someone else. The lobby is breathtaking but impersonal. The valets and staff have to wear uniforms-- not my favorite thing. I had to call downstairs my second day because my room had not been serviced. A previous tenant had left nail clippings and a cigarette butt on my balcony and I had to ask to have that cleaned as well. Another guest woke me up one night. They were drunk and yelling and swearing on the phone in the hallway at about 1am. By the time I woke up enough to call downstairs they were gone.... I had hoped to dine in on Friday or Saturday night but the bar/restaurant was either occupied by locals or there was a wedding reception going on and the places were full. With only one tiny elevator, this was not a great situation. Where are the stairs in the Hotel Chaco? Who knows... Also, you get two cards--one for your room and one for the elevator. They are not marked as to which is which so you just have to guess every time. How weird. Every time I walked out of my room I had to remember which way the elevator was-- there is no sign. The bar soap in my bathroom crumbled like dust--it was never replaced. The temperature of the water in the shower changes if a neighbor room uses the shower and/or flushes at the same time. When you open the door to your room and enter, the door slams behind you very hard--this was unpleasant every single time. The door to my little mini-fridge also squeaked and dragged horribly. By the end of the week I learned how to lift it so it wouldn't make that horrible sound. Is there a parking lot for the Hotel Chaco? I have no clue, I parked on the street every time. The good stuff: There were some good things about the Hotel Chaco including the in-room coffee, the homemade granola, and the balcony. Also, the bed was amazing--I would have been OK if I died in that bed. Also, there was a motion-detecting light in the bathroom that was really well-placed. I also like that there is no carpeting in the room. I can see what the Hotel Chaco is going for here. The building entrance is breath-taking and full of style. It is a huge complex awaiting another big complex of Saw Mill development across the way. But what the Hotel Chaco has in style it lacks in substance--true, consistent, and well-thought out customer service. For the price, about $200/night, I just did not feel comfortable here. read more

This is a review of their restaurant, LVL 5. I did not stay at the hotel; however it is very pretty and calming inside. The service was deplorable. 2 servers for about 5 occupied tables and it took forever to get our lunch. I ordered the yellow fin tuna taco emphasizing I wanted it rare...of course it came out medium with little pink. I just ate it b/c I didn't want to wait another 30 minutes to get our lunch. We had to flag her down to get the check and then had to get up and hand her the credit card so we could get out of there. I didn't see any manager around so taking to Yelp to complain. We had looked at the dinner menu and hoped to come back and enjoy dinner with a great view but now we'll pass. read more

Went to the rooftop bar after work with my coworkers. I had read up on the place before and i saw the hit or miss reviews that littered their page annd i would agree with the hit or miss nature of the place. A few of my coworkers had been there before but they way we were treated that night was rude to say the least. They open at 4:30 and our group of 16 got their early. The hostest was getting real fresh with us since we were sitting in a place where people eat their dinner (there really was no where else to sit other than in the sun but they hadnt even opened yet and there was no crowd). We asked about the private area to which the hostest snapped " you can rent that area out for $2,300 tonight if you like" (very sarcastically! This place aint cheap but the way she said it was annoying) Finally we were seated inside and ordered drinks. I do not recommend the sun dagger, it was burbon and tequila with other stuff but the burbon overpowered the whole drink and so there was no real flavor. We got appetizers too which were good But i would only recommend the cheese plate and avocado hummus. 2/5 stars because it is a beautiful location but the staff are a bunch of snooty jerks. read more

Tried to book via their mobile website, but could not get past the "book now" pop up page asking for the arrival date. Couldn't find any information about rates on their website (perhaps it's there but only part of the text would load so I couldn't read anything). Tried to call to book and got forwarded to voicemail. Won't be bothering again. For a "high-end" hotel, the booking process shouldn't be so clunky/mobile-unfriendly Update: Since then was invited to dinner at Level 5 for Mother's Day. When we arrived, the hostess asked if we had reservations and my boyfriend responded that he had called to make reservations (he had to leave a voicemail and wait for a call back, just like my experience) and they had told him they don't take reservations for rooftop dining. The hostess told us that is generally true, but they DO take reservations for holidays... so we asked if it was at all possible to be seated on the rooftop patio for dinner anyway since we were given the wrong information and they said they would try. Lucky for us, we ended up with a great table and were totally pleased. Yay! Menu was small, and all entree options appeared to be rotated weekly. We ordered a charcuterie board and decided to wait on ordering the rest of our meal. Waitress admittedly didn't know much about the night's options/spread, but assured us it was great. Well, it wasn't great. Very bare bones, just big slices of a few kinds of cheese, some salami and some crackers. I could have put the thing together myself with $10 at Trader Joe's. It paled in comparison to charcuteries we've had at Salt & Board, Duel Brewing and Zinc Cellar, for half the price. Super disappointed. After asking a few more questions about the menu and having the waitress again say she didn't know, we decided to enjoy the view and the rest of our bottle of wine and meanwhile made last minute reservations elsewhere for the remainder of our Mother's Day dinner. Great view, swanky atmosphere, but can't say much for the service or food - especially for the price. read more

Stayed here on out way from Dallas to Napa California. Hotel is nice, amazing gym and friendly staff. Room service food was terrible, I got the huevos rancheros and couldn't even eat it. The fried egg was completely raw and slimy egg whites were all over the the beans...gross. Ended up just throwing it away. I would recommend going across the street and grabbing food at the market place. Neighbor was blasting rap at 8:00 AM, super irritating since I was trying to take an exam. What would make this place next level would to have bath robes in the bathrooms, a snack and drink bar, a dog waste trash can outside with dog poop bags available. Stay was amazing! Made my reservation with Nate the evening prior to check in, we stayed on a Sunday so, they had plenty of rooms. I requested a room on the highest floor with a mountain view - we got both, thanks Nate! Upon arrival, we pulled up to the front door, Joey helped with luggage and valeted our vehicle. We checked in with a friendly, young lady at the front desk (I think her name was Allie), she gave us Hotel Chaco branded water and showed us to the elevator. At the room we were met by Joey again, he put our luggage on racks. At this point, my husband was embarrassed, we had been driving for eight hours and forgot to get cash for tips. Joey was so understanding and didn't make us feel uncomfortable. After, I forgot my makeup bag in the car - he rushed down, retrieved it and delivered it to the room. We found an ATM in the lobby and rewarded him for a.) being helpful and b.) not giving lesser service after knowing we didn't have cash. The room was fantastic - very obvious the hotel is new. Up to date bathrooms with rain shower head and handheld shower head. The robes and slippers were perfect after our long road trip - it was like walking around in a big, fluffy, cotton ball (send me robes, LOL, but, really let me know where I can buy one!). Nice and big outdoor patio with two chairs and a table. The bed was comfy, we slept like babies. We didn't eat at the LVL 5 restaurant but, we did enjoy drinks outside - with four glasses of wine our tab was $40ish. The waitress was nice, she was busy however, she still managed to make conversation with us. The panoramic view of the city was breathtaking. If we ever make it back to ABQ - this will be my go to hotel. read more

I am trying to not sound snotty writing this, but I used to travel a lot and loved going to the newest and hottest spots. I have NEVER been told that we couldn't order a drink at the bar because they didn't want to crowd the bar area. I've never even heard of that happening. I'm not sure if the hostess noticed that the place was virtually empty. As she was telling us that we needed reservations just to have a drink (seriously), my fiancé and I were looking around with a blank stare because there were sooo many empty tables. I swear I was looking for the hidden video cameras waiting for Oprah or someone from Punk'd to come out. Stayed for 3 nights at this beautiful hotel. Staff was great, hotel was VERY clean, modern, and minimalistic. We stayed in the delux king with balcony (definitely get balcony bc the view and fresh abq air is worth it). Our room was spotless, bright, roomy and so cozy. One of the most comfortable beds we've had at a hotel. We constantly saw housekeeping every time we were coming and going- they were always helpful and very efficient with cleaning especially during Covid. Level 5 bar is cool for drinks, but that's about all its good for- dinner menu is limited and dinner seating is further away from the view. We ordered breakfast room service and the food was delicious! 100% get the New Mexican omelette and huevos rancheros, the lavender crepes were a no for us but the omelette and eggs were to die for!
