We truly enjoyed our stay at this hotel until the last part of our trip when we began noticing that…read moreitems from our room were missing. On Friday, 11/08/25, we realized that a small bag containing only our receipts, which had been sitting on the dresser by the mirror, was gone. Since it was only receipts, we did not think much of it at the time. The next day, Saturday, 11/09/25, the jewelry and gifts we had purchased in Murano also went missing. These included a thank you gift for my sister (red Murano glass earrings), a bracelet and earrings for our daughter, and a Murano glass bottle opener. All of the items were kept together in their jewelry boxes in a plastic bag on the dresser in front of the mirror. Altogether, the value was about €80. We discovered the items were missing on Sunday while packing and doing laundry and immediately reported it to the front desk on 11/09/25. We were told that both the front desk manager and general manager were off that day. Staff said they spoke with the cleaner assigned to our room, who denied taking anything. Since there are no cameras inside rooms, there was unfortunately no way for us or the hotel to verify what happened. When we checked out on Monday, 11/10/25, we spoke with the front desk manager. He was polite, apologetic, and tried to help. He refunded us $10 for the laundry coins we had purchased, but that did not come close to the value of the missing items. He suggested that perhaps the items had been mixed in with the blankets and thrown away accidentally, but we explained that everything had been sitting on the dresser, not in the bedding, and the items were heavy and in boxes. After returning home, I waited about a month to see if management would follow up or offer any additional resolution, but I never heard back. I am not someone who normally leaves negative reviews, but this was very disheartening, especially because we traveled to Venice for our wedding anniversary and had an otherwise wonderful stay. Unfortunately, this situation left a lasting negative impression on what could have been a perfect trip.

Coffee and a welcome bottle of Prosecco were also waiting for us. The view is really, truly right on the canal. It's fantastic but surprisingly quiet at night, likely due to the excellent windows We took the water taxi to the San Marco Square then walked back and it was about a 30 minute walk with beautiful shops and restaurants almost the entire way. Final note, the breakfast was a very good value with a diverse selection and excellent coffee. We recommend this hotel wholeheartedly.

The deal killer: it's march, and the weather is warming up. I couldn't get the A/C / thermostat to turn on, so I asked the front desk. Turns out that the heat has been turned off for the season, and A/C has yet to be turned on....so there is no thermostat control. The only way to control the temp is to open the window. My room was 25c with the window closed. However, the road below the hotel is quite noisy. There's also road construction that is not only loud, the equipment has ridiculous safety horns that buzz non stop. The construction, I learned the hard way, stops at 3 am. so. If you like being hot and listening to horns, loud motorcycles, people talking in the cafe below, and Non stop safety horns, then this is the spot for you. For the other 99.9% of the world, I suggest not saying here.

The hotel is family owned and I will say that by the time I left, I felt like family myself. Mario, Michele, and Maida were incredibly friendly, caring, and helpful in every way. I loved the feel of my room. It was a large room with a sitting area as well as a bed space. The bed was very comfortable and I was able to sign in to my Netflix, which was awesome after a long day at the hospital. The bathroom was very clean and spacious and included the standard shower gel and soap (and a shower cap). Breakfast was included in my reservation (through Travelocity) and I now miss my daily cappuccino by Mario. The breakfast was typical European style with lots of options. The yogurts and pastries were my favorite. I liked the location of the hotel because it was quieter than the other options and was still very close to the bus stop, Lidl (the grocery store) and within walking distance to multiple restaurants. I recommend Da Pino for some amazing pizza. I sincerely hope I can make it back to Venice again for a normal vacation, If I do, I will definitely stay here again.

Long version: Our EasyJet flight was delayed significantly, so we ended up getting to the hotel on a rainy night a little after midnight. We walked to the hotel, an easy half hour stroll, where they had prepared our room and let us check in the following morning. We we're so greatful for that because we were all exhausted. They had given us the gate code and printed a welcoming note to our room with all the information. The window and door had outside shutters that are great for making the room dark and dampening the sound from outside. In the room were packaged cream-filled buns for breakfast, along with a pot and tea bags. Note that the stuff in the mini-fridge is for a charge, and they have beer and wine in the lobby that seems to be priced reasonably. They have a simple breakfast, from 7-11am, just next to the reception office. It even has a coffee machine that makes lattes. The WiFi was a bit slow, but the lady at reception said that it was the service, not the hotel wireless, so it was slow for her too. She said it isn't normally. They have animals there that you can visit too, though we were excited to get into Venice. We walked out to catch the number 5 bus, after filling up on breakfast and buying bus tickets at the reception desk, at the bus stop just on the main road. They offered to hold our bags after checking out, which was great because we decided to go back into Venice the morning we were leaving. A short baggage pick up at the hotel, then the walk to the airport. Overall it was a pleasure to stay at this charming farmhouse and I'd recommend it for a great Venetian vacation.

It's official! My favorite city so far in Italy was Venice! Despite all the horror stories about…read morethe flooding, I was happy to still have the chance to visit this city while I was in Italy. During my recent stay in Venice, I reserved the Hotel Abbazia as it was one of the best locations near the Santa Lucia Railway Station. Literally, the hotel was 700 ft from the station, down an alleyway as I passed several restaurants; you can't beat the convenience and the price! For a budget hotel, this was a simple and decent stay--the room offers a small flat-screen TV, iron board and hairdryer, mini-refrigerator and air conditioner, and a hard ol' mattress queen bed, not the most comfortable bed but it was doable for the time that I spent there. The only thing it didn't offer was a damn elevator; BOO! Good thing for friends because my homegirl and her boyfriend were able to take my heavy ass suitcase up to the second floor or else a sista' would have been struggling! The hallways to the bedrooms were this sexy red lighting that automatically came on when it sensed any movement. I liked it but I sensed that my friends thought it was pretty creepy. The hotel offers a beautiful elegant dining/bar area with a gorgeous chandelier. This is also where free breakfast is served in the morning. I hear breakfast offered an array of different pastries and fruit. If you have time to eat breakfast, I would give it a shot. Make sure you also check out the back-garden seating area. It's perfect for enjoying your breakfast in the morning or coming out to get some fresh air. The staff during the evening was nice, however, I felt that the gentleman became irritated with me as the bedroom door had slammed shut on me as I was walking my friends out of my bedroom, and it just so happened that I had left my keys in the room. Also, just like similar hotels in Italy, the air conditioners turn off after a certain time, making these rooms stuffy. The only option I had was to open the window; UGH. The rooms are quiet, I couldn't hear my neighbors at all. The bathroom was super small, and the showers were not the best. The water temperature only provided cold water; BOO! You can tell the facility is a little outdated and needs some TLC. Within the area alone, there are varies different restaurants. Once you walk out of the hotel, you are right in front of all the activities. You can take a Water Boat to any side of Venice, or you can do what I did and just walk the whole City as its pretty doable to do in 8 hours. There are also bars all throughout the area, making for a great night. If you are looking for more of a convenient hotel near the station and close to many of the landmarks in Venice, I would definitely recommend this hotel if you are staying for less than 2 nights. P.S-If you are planning to leave your luggage at this hotel as you roam the Venice area, please note that this hotel doesn't lock the door to the luggage room. Make sure you take your valuables with you.
