If you haven't had hot pot you have to try it and this is the way to do it - communal broth in the middle! The broths were great and there was a way to raise the bottom so you can grab anything cooked at the bottom which was super nice so you didn't miss anything. We especially loved the spicy Sichuan. The sauce bar was a great way to do it so you can choose your own flavors and if you don't know what you're doing they have some recommended staff recipes posted to help! It's all you can eat so you can keep ordering as you go and they have a fun little robot waiter that will bring it out for you. The vibe is great and after you stuff yourself like I did you can walk around the shops and grocery store in the building.

This place was pretty good but some of the customer service was lacking. Granted, we were a group of 8. So that alway sucks for the staff. None of us had done hot pot before and our waitress didn't really explain things well. She asked us upfront if we had done hot pot before and we said all "no". Then, she almost looked a little annoyed, and we felt awkward, like we shouldn't be there. We kind of had to figure it out by ourselves and luckily, they had a sign in the restaurant (near the sauce bar) that someone took a picture of that had instructions. Thankfully we saw this otherwise we may have missed it. The vibes are pretty cool, and the actual concept is fun! The broth's were good and overall, the food was pretty good. It's just a bit chaotic and messy. I would recommend one mild broth and a spicy broth for your two choices. Seafood LAST if you order it. It can make the broth fishy. Get different meats too! The tempera/fried options often just got too mushy in the oil. They give you plastic water cups, which feels a bit weird and wasteful for a restaurant that charges $38 a person. They also only gave us one pair of tongs for the raw meat, which was a bit of an issue. We were often nervous about food contamination as well, just due to the available space you have at the table. There's also a bar/buffet area to make your own sauces to dip your meats in, or mix up with the meal you make. This is pretty fun! The sauces are good and they have recipes available if you're not sure what to make. A couple friends mentioned how they wish they were more sauce options. I didn't feel this way personally. They also have ice cream Cups included with your purchase. Overall, I would rate this 3.5/5 stars. Leaning closer to three since it's just average. For $38 plus an 18% auto tip, (maybe the auto tip was due to our party size? Either way, we would have tipped 18% to 20%) or about $95 if you're a couple and wanting to dine on a weekend. It felt overpriced but was a fun experience. Maybe it's something you do once a year on a special occasion. Definitely give hot pot a try at least once in your life, but it's too expensive and there's too many negatives to make this a reoccurring restaurant.

FIVE STARS!! We returned to Hot Pot City for my husband's birthday, and it was a PERFECT experience start to finish. WALK INS ONLY Note they don't take reservations, but even on a Saturday night with 9 people we were able to be seated right away! They have tons of seating and a variety of sized tables. AYCE Note that they operate on an all you can eat format - one price for all - rather than charging per dish. Come hungry! They even have single-serve ice cream and little mousse desserts for after. DRINKS Beer under $3? Very affordably priced hot and cold sake? Sign me up! HOT POT Okay, now to the most important part: the hot pot. This is one of the few communal hot pot spots in the Cities we've found and loved. We love Tasty Pot and LePot but with a large group, it's way more fun to do a communal hot pot in the middle! BROTH For broth, I like to go with two-sided: one side spicy sichuan, and the other either pork bone broth, tom yum, or garlic. ORDER You order with your server for the first round, and don't worry - you can always request more! They have a bunch of veggies for self-serve at the front, and other items often come to your table by the robot servers - iconic. I especially recommend getting: - quail eggs - tiny and delicious - beef, lamb, pork and plenty of it - dumplings are delish - ramen noodles - duh - lotus root - if you haven't had it you'll fall in love with it - enoki mushrooms are the BEST mushrooms ever - fried tofu - amazing consistency and holds hot pot flavor great EAT Before eating, go make your dipping sauce - heavy on the sesame sauce and teriyaki so it's sweet to balance the spice. Order rice (they have it now!!) for everyone at the table, wait for the hot pot to boil, then cook your items, pull them out, rest them on the rice, and dip in your sauce. PERFECTION. SERVICE We had the BEST server (I think it was Kelly?) - she was so lively and funny, and matched our birthday party energy! She was efficient and thoughtful. Two other team members were kind enough to take our group photo at the end, too. Can't recommend Kelly and the experience enough! AMBIANCE They have really put in effort to level this place up. The iconic multi-projector walls with different scenes is so fun. They've also added aesthetic wall dividers and new lamps to make it a more elevated feel. So good!

Hot Pot City is such a fun time, with delicious yummy food! You can choose from so many veggies, and meats - more than you can imagine! A robot came and brought some of our food, so unique and efficient! The restaurant is in the Eden Prairie Asia Mall, which is such a cute authentically Asian designed space. Make sure to check out the grocery store on your way out too!

Great experience! Underground parking, AYCE, cute robot server, and great flavor! Would recommend trying it, but can see it getting busy on weekends

Wow what a spot! I've only been to three hot pot places so far but this one might take the cake. The ingredients are so fresh and the broth tasted so comforting. The waiter was really attentive and we got all of our dishes we ordered in a timely manner. Would definitely come back because the selection is amazing. Can also get fruit and ice cream!

The food is good, though meat is not best quality, service us good, cute with little robot, ambulance is like a typical diner, overall good experience!

Made a trip to the Asia Mall to have some hot pot. Hot Pot City is a fabulous location. As you walk in you see lots of happy people and lots of cat robots delivering food to the tables. Honestly at I went to see the robots and ended up loving the place. Our server Kelly was amazing and she made some very good recommendations and gave us details on everything. The location is all-you-can-eat so come hungry they have a separate food bar and they have a good Asian beer menu and tea. The experience was fun and different if you have not done hot pot and it's well worth the cost. There is lots of parking at the Asia Mall and there are lots of things to do around the mall and great shopping. The experience was very memorable and I can't wait to go back and hope to get Kelly again.

This place is so fun! If you haven't been to a hot pot place, this is a good starter option. You are seated at a table with a "pot" in the middle of the table that you get to choose a broth for (up to two flavors), we chose a garlic one. Then you have a menu that you can order anything from to cook in your little hot pot at your table. They also have veggies and sauces that are self serve. It's all you can eat and priced at $33/person for dinner (they do have a charge for wasted food, so try to order what you'll eat). We went on a weeknight at 7pm and the place had plenty of space for our small party for two. Some of the foods and beverages are delivered by a fun lil robot- which adds a bit of excitement to the experience! Our server was incredible, very helpful since it was our first time using a hot pot. I'd absolutely recommend this place if you want to try something new!

The Asia Mall is close to us in Eden Prairie, so RC and I checked it out on Sunday during the Chinese Lunar New Year celebration. There were singers, dancers, games, and fun little tables with gizmos and toys. We walked around a bit (it's WAY smaller than I expected) and went upstairs looking for food. There are a handful of restaurants and all were super busy this day so we checked out Hot Pot City. Neither of us had ever had Hot Pot, so we were complete noobs and didn't do some things I now would try. It's an AYCE restaurant and I was *not* hungry enough. I enjoyed the interactive nature of cooking our own food and while I got the pork broth, RC went for Szechuan and added more chili sauce. The best parts were the shrimp, the gyoza, and the veg. The chicken would have been good if we had cooked it for a very short time instead of overcooking it. I also wish I had seen the noodles because I love noodles. We did not care for the thick ropes of seaweed so I'll skip that next time. Service was excellent and our server made helpful suggestions, kept our waters filled, and offered to bring more of anything we wanted. A lovely experience. There are no prices displayed anywhere so the $80 tab was a shocker. However, now that I know, I'll be more judicious in deciding to go back.

This was so terrible. Such a waste of money and we still left hungry.. we ordered the tomato broth and the tom Yum broth. Tom Yum, didn't taste like tom Yum because they didn't use actual lemongrass and lime leaves. They just use the paste. It is an impressive operation with a serving robot and great friendly staff. However, the food and the execution is not there. If you're looking for a great hotspot, you're better off, going to California to HildaLao.

I'd wanted to try Hot Pot City since it opened and it met my expectations! We luckily were seated right away. But even if you had to wait for a table, there's plenty of things to do to kill time in the rest of the mall. It took awhile for our server to greet us initially, but she was extremely attentive the rest of the evening. The $33 price for all you can eat on a weekday is an excellent deal. And beers were $3 - yes please! The ingredient selection is impressive - and they come out on cute little robots! The wood ear mushrooms are my new fave. The broths on their own weren't super flavorful, but they were a good base for cooking the foods. We got the lemongrass and chicken black garlic. I'm also a sucker for a good sauce bar. I can't wait to come back and bring friends!

Can a big group (of say 8 or so) get seated in a Saturday around opening?

In general I'd say yes. But call ahead to be sure
