My brother recommended getting quite a few of the sharing meze plates and then a main to share between two people, so we did exactly that. We ordered mostly hot plates - my faves were the chicken livers and the vine leaves. The vine leaves were some of the best I've ever eaten! The aubergine dip and hummus with lamb chunks were incredible, and so were the little lamb sausages!! Wait, I think I've listed all of the little plates that we ordered. Okay, so everything was pretty much my favourite! We had ordered a mixed grill for each couple to share and again, the food was delicious. I'm so full right now. The service was great, the staff were really attentive and friendly. Another awesome little touch was a sweet succulent coconut cake that came WITH the bill. Free cake?! This is my kinda place!

The service is always polite and friendly. I love to sit at the bar and watch the chefs whilst they cook. Also every time I've been here it's always really busy! Apart from being a bit cramped, I absolutely love this Lebanese restaurant as its tasty and great value for money!

If not for this, it would have been a zero star rating. (Is that even possible?) The food we were served today was truly diabolical. My partner had a cheese burger and chips. I wish I had taken a photo. The burger looked like cardboard; it was about 1cm thick, dry like chipboard, solid and apparently tasted revolting. Ah, and there was no cheese. My partner actually said he would have been better off with a Wimpy burger.... I ordered the falafel with chips, expecting the falafel, pitta, humous and salad described on the menu, but got two pieces of falafel on a plate of chips with nothing else. No salad, not even a garnish. The falafel tasted ok and was homemade but had been microwaved so was spongy. I dread to think what was inside the kid's sausages - they didn't smell good and the peas didn't really resemble peas either. And all of this for £30! This is 'middle class family' territory and the Horniman positions itself as green, organic, environmentally friendly etc, so they really need to buck up the café food. On the plus side, the cakes did look good and on a previous visit I've had the homemade quiche, which was tasty. The mezze platter also looks like it might be ok. The conservatory is a lovely building - although sadly the heaters were not on despite the cold and rain. The main café area is indoors but was packed to the brim. So in brief, during our visit at least, the food was poor quality and completely over priced. It really was quite shocking. To top it off, the grounds of the Horniman are currently being dug up (Feb '11), the hands-on section in the music room is closed (temporarily) and you now have to pay to go into the aquarium. I used to love visiting the Horniman but I think it will be a while before I muster the enthusiasm to head back there.

On the last day of our trip we walked into this restaurant. We chose it due to it's close location to our hotel, and it was a choice based on convenience as opposed to interest. I was quickly surprised. After a full day of tours and sightseeing we were tired and hungry. Upon entering the restaurant the staff greeted us with a friendly and inviting demeanor that immediately helped improve my mood. Although, it's not much to look at from the outside, the inside is clean, and well decorated with modest middle eastern decor. The quality of the meal was nothing short of amazing. The appetizer they served me had the tastiest hummus I've ever had. I ordered a shrimp plate that caught my attention and I can honestly say this was the single best shrimp recipe I've ever had in my life. I would have gladly payed the chef hundreds of dollars for the recipe just so I could recreate it at home. My wife enjoyed her meal just as much as I did. We quickly agreed that this had been the single best meal of the entire trip. Now if I can just talk the owner into selling me that recipe
