As for my first time trying Hot Bunz, it was pretty good! The classic smash burgers were phenomenal, loved the fries as well! As for the Mac attack, the macaroni was a bit overcooked /: but was overall not too bad! Came to Hot Bunz craving fries and a shake... came out with a full meal and more lol. Hot Bunz was one of the few food joints open later on a Sunday that wasn't McD's, BK, or In-n-Out. Decided to check them out and came out really enjoying my meal. The inside is brightly lit with a huge mural of top fast food competitors duking it out (artist: Coinslot on IG). Order at the counter and grab some pickled jalapenos/banana peppers while you wait. I ordered: Classic smash combo - decent burger, a lil messy. Fries were great and fulfilled my craving. Normally when new establishments open up, I will Yelp the restaurant and look at the reviews. I'll look at how long it's been operating and if it's not open for six months or more, I don't go. I'm not the kind to bash a restaurant or any type of business, but I'm gonna give my honest opinion. This place is overhyped due to social media! I wanted to try it out because I seen it on TikTok and the food looked absolutely appetizing. It was a busy Saturday evening around 730pm. I told my kids I wasn't cooking so we were going here because I wanted to try it. They were all for it because who doesn't like a good burger and since smash burgers are the way to go, why not. Upon walking in the paintings on the walls catch your eyes. It's a very casual kind of place. When looking at the menu it's very appealing and makes you want to order the whole menu lol jk. The "combos" aren't really combo meals it's just the burger and the fries, the drink is extra, for X in my book. The young lady at helping me was helpful with the questions I had. We didn't dine it we took our food home, but before we left I took pictures of the way the food looked just in case it didn't look like that when we got home. I got the jalapeño smash, my oldest had the classic combo, and my youngest had the kids combo (which included the drink). The burger IN MY OPINION was under seasoned, the jalapeño were all cut in different thickness, it wasn't something to write home to mom about. Lil bro was craving burgers so here we went. This spot is very local to us and the menu is a bit unique as you can only order a burger and fry combo. The wall murals inside the restaurant are top tier and gave me a good chuckle. Service was also exceptional - our server was patient while we took our time to order and was very friendly. My brother ordered the jalapeno smash while I got the kid smash as I was not very hungry. The patty is the star here. Perfectly smashed with crispy laced edges that are very well seasoned. The buns are very soft and buttery. I had a bite of the jalapeno smash and wow I would get this next time - the sauce and grilled onions with jalapeno are perfect compliments to the burger. Finally gave Hot Bunz a try after seeing them all over social media. Overall, it's a solid spot for the price, you definitely get your money's worth in terms of portion size. The restaurant itself has a great, open atmosphere with plenty of room. While the staff was quick to take my order, there was a significant wait for the food to actually arrive. As for the meal, the fries were the highlight with great texture and flavor. However, the burgers were a bit of a letdown; despite being loaded with cheese, sauce, and jalapeños, the flavor was surprisingly masked and lacked any punch. My only "ehhh" moment was the cheese on mine... I wasn't feeling it. BUT the bacon and patties still did what they needed to do, so I wasn't mad at it. We loved the Hot Bunz in Rancho and saw this location when we were in the area. The location is just like the original. It's covered wall to wall with custom art from Coinslot. Mostly depicting their burger guy fighting other well known brands haha. The menu is the same with their different smash burgers, the frisky fries, mac attack, and shakes. All of them tasted great, just like the original location. Don't forget to ask for extra house sauce. That's what really makes it special. Staff were friendly and helpful. We love that take out boxes and bags were set out and easy to grab. There were also signs telling you the bathroom code was on the receipt. So definitely don't throw it out! There's two locations for this burger joint, one here in Bruceville Rd. and one in Sunrise Blvd., in Sacramento. I don't know if its the location or if my expectations were too high from "foodies" hyping up the burger joint so much but this location was definitely not it. The vibe is pretty chill, love the interior and shoutout to the artist COINSLOT, definitely outdid themselves in making those colors pop up fs! For the service, the employee who took our order seemed out of touch and wasn't too focused on what we were saying. I get it, I work at fast food too, but customers should definitely be a #1 priority. My partner and I ordered #1 and #3. As our food came out, the presentation was lacking what was being promoted on their screens. The burgers looked smaller than what we saw on their screens. Probably one of the better smash burgers I've had. 100% halal which was awesome. I ordered via the phone to save them some of the app fees and the food was nice and not upon pickup with no wait. I highly recommend trying the Jalapeño smash combo or the keto bowl. Both were delicious. I do think their prices have gone up a bit too much though. I recall the Jalapeño burger combo being around 15-17 and was surprised to pay $20 for that. I think $17 is the upper limit they should consider selling that for. It seems that Sac Town has many smash burger stores, more than Silicon Valley (for whatever reason) so I wanted to try at least one whie there. Many are closed on Sunday, unfortunately (but good for them for maintaining that tradition.). Hot Bunz is on the way to my destination so I decided to go there. The patties were on the saltier side for my tastes and not as moist as smash burger patties I have had elsewhere. The bun was fine and didn't fall apart or anything. The burger comes with a side of special sauce which I did use to add some moistness and to cover the saltiness. For me, the burger probably would have benefited from adding lettuce and tomato (no charge for these toppings but you do need to order them with the burger) but I wanted to try it bare to judge the basic taste. I would try some of the other smash burger places in Sacramento before returning. Service was decent; the kitchen staff member who brought my order out was very friendly. The interior is ok; lots of space between tables. We had a late dinner at this burger joint over the weekend, and loved the place. A bright and inviting atmosphere, featuring great artwork on the walls. With hardly any customers on site when we arrived, service was fast and friendly, and there were plenty of indoor seating options to choose from. We ordered the jalapeno smash, which comes with two sliders, but honestly, those are big enough burgers that I'm glad my bf and I split this meal. I thought the burgers were super delicious, juicy beef patties, generous with the sauce and grilled toppings, everything tasted fresh. Many people prefer the thinner ultra crispy smash style, so if you were looking for that, this isn't the place for you. The beef served here is halal. - The buns were toasted perfectly, not greasy/soggy. - The ingredients were well balanced as well with a solid sauce to tie everything together. the jalapenos were very good. - Both the fries and onion rings, were crispy and not overly oily. I saw some comments saying the fries were plain which is kind of true. Don't expect Five Guys levels of seasoning or anything like that but it's nothing a bit of sauce or ketchup can't fix. My SO actually preferred how balanced it was seasoned. I would say the meal portions were good to generous so even if you're sharing the meal like we did, you'll both leave feeling full. I'm from the bay where a double smash burger can easily go for 12 or more dollars alone so to get two burgers and a side of fries for 20 is awesome value. The restaurant itself is spacious and clean, with a cool mural that adds some personality. The vibe is casual, no-frills, but welcoming. Service was friendly.
