I visited The Melt in Sacramento, CA [2070 Fair Oaks Blvd] on Friday, 04/17/26, around 9 PM. For dinner, I proceeded to get the following: * Original MeltBurger - Double Patty with cheddar, pickle-jalapeño mix, and Melt sauce * Steak Fajita Mac * Tomato Soup The best thing that I've tried was the Tomato Soup. It was extremely flavorful and very forward with the tomato flavor. The Steak Fajita Mac was cheesy and tasty as well. The meat, bell peppers, and jalapeños truly enhanced the overall taste of the dish. The big letdown, unfortunately, was the MeltBurger. Whereas I enjoyed the melty cheddar cheese, pickle-jalapeño mix, and melt sauce to complement the burger, the burger patties were super bland and flavorless. The patties needed some love with seasoning, even if it was just something simple like pepper and salt. The experience of the burger just did not meet expectations in that avenue. I paired the burger with ketchup, and this condiment was the saving grace. The inside of the restaurant had modern decor and was clean. The staff members were helpful and amiable when interacting with customers. The Melt even offered a loyalty program to receive free or discounted items when dining here frequently. I'm giving this restaurant 3/5 stars. The 2 stars were knocked down due to the unsatisfactory, underwhelming cookery of the bland burger patties. I'd still visit this restaurant in the future. There's a shared parking lot where you can park. You can order at your convenience with a person working or at a kiosk. I like the chicken from here. There's some spice levels so beware of that. I found this by searching for the best fast food in Sacramento but it really isn't as it is a sit down place. The food was awesome. I had the Italian Job and garlic fries chased down with a thick and creamy shake. My wife had the Mac Daddy and her face when she bit into it was pure joy. Timothy provided excellent service. I got the double cheese burger and the double bbq bacon burger and holy moly these were HUGE!! Like 5 pounds of burger per burger and it was DELIcious! After driving my sister to an appointment, I spotted The Melt, which stood out in a good way. When I looked them up and saw they had burgers. After her appointment, that's exactly what we were in the mood to have! As we popped in, we looked around and felt less pressure looking at the menu on the kiosk. Since I had already looked it up, we knew what we wanted. I ordered a double melt burger and my sister ordered the original melt burger and added an egg. We shared garlic fries and a side of their melted mac and added bread crumbs. Neither of us like pickles so we didn't want those with our burgers (it comes in the side.) We picked up a buzzer which allows us to know our meal is done so that we can pick up to at the front. Customer service right away was top notch! I went to the register and talked with Timothy. He showed me where the drinks were and there are water cups out and that's what we got because that's what I love to drink! While we waited for our food to finish, I walked around and looked at the decor. Some of it was some history on The Melt, Central Pacific Railroad, Sacramento State college in 1949... the history on the walls is fun to check out and much easier since there weren't so many people. As you can see, I was eating with my eyes. My double Melt Burger was enormous. Also, you can see where I mentioned we didn't want the pickle on the side... and there it was on our tray. However, presentation was spot on! I enjoyed talking to Timothy. Thank you for grabbing us napkins!!! He showed us above and beyond customer service!! As for the taste- The burger was not that good. Love the addition of Melt to this area and the space is so nice and welcoming. I love the way they decorate the restaurant and the menu definitely speaks to me as someone who loves grilled cheese, burgers, and sandwiches. I've gotten food at this location a few times now and the service isn't always consistent. They do have kiosks but also have a counter that you can order from up front. As someone who is happy to do either it'd be nice to have more direction one way or the other. When I've stopped in I haven't always been greeted, and it would be cool to right away have someone say "Welcome in, feel free to order at the kiosk or with me". I like getting the grilled cheese and tomato soup, the patty melt, or some mac and cheese when I stop in. I was very happy with my food each time I visited and when I dined in I did have a staff member check in on me and ask how the food was. Well, this is going to one of my new spots for burgers. This is the first time I came here and I was not disappointed. The Melt Restaurant is well lit and you can choose to order yourself on the kiosk or you can place your order at the counter. My son and I decided to place our order at the kiosk.However Remy was so helpful. She helped with water cups as well getting our receipts so that I could get started on the rewards program. There is plenty of seating, condiments and food choices. They have hamburgers, chicken burgers, impossible burgers and grilled cheese sandwiches. I opted for a Double BBQ Melt Burger and fries. My son had a Double Melt Burger. The burgers are big and I was only able to half! The music that was playing was upbeat and the restaurant clean. It's a nice hamburger, but the value proposition isn't that great. I understand this place is straddling between a formal dine-in experience compared to a casual experience. It is basically an alternative version of Shake Shack. However, shake shack despite it's similar prices often have coupons which drop the prices significantly. The hamburger is fine, and taste better than most places. However, once a hamburger crosses into a double digit prices with no fries, it enters into a very competitive market. Where, the brioche buns better have a smooth buttery taste. The brioche wasn't stale, but the richness wasn't there. The amount of mushrooms was a bit anemic for the price. As for the food, the BBQ bacon cheese burger was delicious. The BBQ with the crispy onion strings gave it a zesty taste. I also had a grilled cheeses that was good. The toasted butter bread gave it a little bit of flavor. The sweet potato fries were cooked to perfection. They were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The Mac n cheese was not what we thought it would be. It was a cheeses sauce and not the melted cheese throughout like for Thanksgiving. The drinks are one size. They had Black Cherry which you don't see at many places. 5 stars for good food and good customer service (Timothy). The garlic Parmesan fries reminded me of being at a baseball game - tons of fresh chopped garlic and the flavor stuck with us all day long. No vampires in sight haha But the Crispy Chicken was 6/10- a bit plain. Could have used more sauce and seasoning. Next time I'll try a different chicken option. Inside, the decor was really cool! As soon as I took my first bite, it made sense where this place gets its name from. I love when a burger finds the perfect balance between melted goodness and neat layering. I noticed that balance during both of my visits (one for spicy mission, one for swish & mushroom). I also enjoyed the garlic parmesan fries a lot. They put a generous amount of seasoning on it which is a-okay with me. The combo comes out to about $18 pre-tip -- pretty reasonable in Sacramento. In such a saturated and competitive market, burgers require attention to culinary detail in order to stand out. The meltburger has no issue putting its own unique spin on things. It's also open until midnight, an uncommon feature for most restaurants in the Arden-Arcade area beside generic chains. I'm glad to have this spot nearby for late night guilty pleasures! read more
