The food was fantastic, our waiter was great. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere was super busy and loud[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] and the food was pretty overpriced. They had a "happy hour" special which is why we popped in but it wasn't that great of a deal after all was said and done... But... YOLO! My husband was happy and it cured the Italian food craving.

Such a great place to stop by during Miami Art Week. Deliciousness at its best. Fresh seafood over linguini with lobster, clams, oysters, shrimp. Veal Scalopini served over vegetables. Extensive wine list served by the bottle. "A MUST TRY"

I first visited this eatery in February 2010, and didn't have the opportunity to revisit until a recent trip to Miami. My subjective truth is that an exceptional dining experience goes far beyond the meal itself. Outstanding dining experiences include unforgettable meals, unparalleled hospitality, and an experience that surpasses one you could curate at home. From the music to the al fresco dining and charming old-world Italian decor, Hosteria Romana, in its prime, was that memorable dining experience I could not wait to relive again. I wish I could say that the visit I recently made invoked the nostalgia I was seeking, but sadly, it did not. Like everything else in this neck of the woods as of recent years, the price compared to the value of the meal is not one I would brag about or recommend. Our table ordered cocktails to start, the "Real Fruit Lychee Martini" ($27) and a "Mexican Mule" ($25). The Lychee martini was made with real fruit juice, topped with a singular lychee. That was the extent of the aesthetic for one of the more expensive drinks on the menu. The glass itself was not chilled, nor was the drink when it was poured, so I was fortunate enough to enjoy a lukewarm lychee martini, al fresco, at night in the SoBe humidity. Loved that for me! It took me almost the entire meal to finish my warm martini, so I did not bother ordering another round. The Mexican Mule, on the other hand, was raved about, certainly not for its price, but rather for its taste: stiff and, most importantly, refreshing. For dinner, a classic "Chicken Fettuccini Alfredo" was ordered ($35) and "Pollo a' Parimgiana co' sarsa di pomodoro e mozzarella squaiata co' pasta a lato" aka "Chicken Parmigiana with pomodoro sauce and mozzarella with pasta on the side" ($47). The fettuccini noodles in the Alfredo dish were made fresh and cooked to a perfect al dente. The Alfredo sauce was well-seasoned, creamy, rich, and paired well with the fettuccini. The chicken, however, totally sabotaged the dish. The chicken was dry, chewy, overcooked, and under-seasoned. The dish would've been better without it. So if you're on the fence, go for the classic, minus the protein. The Chicken Parmigiana was average. The size of the chicken cutlet was twice the size of my hand, which visually may seem to justify the $47 price tag, but sadly, size does not make up for the lack of satisfaction here. The same under-seasoned, dry, and chewy chicken was used for this dish; however, it was masked better beneath the fried breading and perfectly melted mozzarella cheese. The pasta served with the chicken was absolutely bland. The sauce tasted like it came directly from the can. I took my first bite and could immediately taste nothing but acidity. I'll keep it short: I left the pasta and took half of the chicken back to my hotel. Would never pay or recommend this to a stranger. More unsatisfactory than the meal was the service. Due to the area, gratuity is typically included in most service checks. This, however, creates an adverse ripple effect on service, especially at a place like this. You already heard the story about our warm drinks, so I can't imagine there was any priority to running our drinks or food versus attending bigger parties. We had to flag down a busboy several times to get our server to order basics, such as more napkins or water. Specials were never talked about, and he never checked on the quality of our food or how we were enjoying our time. The server's demeanor was very much one of not wanting to be bothered with our table at all. It was both discomforting and unprofessional. Overall, I'm semi-glad I was able to visit for a farewell dinner. There are (still) lots of other great options in the area. I'd challenge a quick search on Yelp ;) to find better value for your dollar. While Hosteria Romana is one of the loudest and most visually appealing on Española Way, coming from an ex-Miamian, don't let the pretty face fool you. Between this visit and the first one I had in 2010, I'll keep the memory of my 2010 visit closer to my heart.

What a fun Italian restaurant! I have walked by this place many times on Espanola way and it always looked so fun. Definitely thought it was a tourist trap at first but one night there was too long of a wait at our favorite Italian place so we stopped in here for some pasta and wine. There was a short wait so we sat at the bar and actually ended up just eating there because it was nice! The portions here are huge. We had the olives and penne arrabbiatta, which they split in half and was still huge. The fresh bread they brought out also was SO GOOD. The best bread service I've had in awhile. While it was a bit over priced, the live music, friendly service, and fun vibe made up for it.

I do want to start with service was really good. Pretty quick for how busy. The food was meh, the saltimbocca was over fried and very hard to eat we weren't able to even eat half. The carbonara was pretty good, perfect amount of salty after walking around all day. The 50% off drinks and 40% off food is a great happy hour. The only thing was we had to ask to have the discount added to the check when we got it. I don't know if I'd come back but it was a fun try.

We made a reservation and were seated right away. If you don't have a reservation, I recommend going early for dinner as it can get very busy. Our waiter (Ryan) was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. The food was ok--nothing wow. I would consider the food overpriced, however, that is very common for the area. The restaurant had lots of decorations for an aesthetic vibe.

Amazing appetizers, entrees and drinks from start to finish. Really easy to get into without a resy on a weekday. We were seated quickly and had efficient service. The charcuterie was very high quality, pasta and bread homemade and you can't beat the people watching on Espanola Way. When they say where Italians go to eat Italian, they are absolutely right! Molto Bene!

Wasn't expecting to have a great Italian meal on Espanola Way, but this place was fantastic. Some of the best Italian food I've ever had and the service is fantastic, which I've learned is kind of a rarity in Miami. Our server Kevin was fast, friendly and attentive. Also delicious coconut mojito. Would come back here anytime.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This restaurant is so fun and has a great atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]My friend and I were seated immediately on the inside, which was less crowded than the patio but still lively.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered wine and our entrees and were given bread almost immediately, which was a great touch. I ordered cacio e pepe which was SO good. It was a little alarming how fast the food came out, but we'll frame it as efficiency. It was honestly one of the better versions of the dish I have had. [[HIGHLIGHT]]While there, there was a live performance with music and everyone was waving their napkins. It was so fun![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] That said, it was a little pricey. We ordered two entrees and two glasses of wine and it was $125ish total, with the 20% service fee included. I guess it to be expected given the location but still a great time. read more

Wow. Just, wow. I don't usually give 5* for a first visit but this was a phenomenal experience. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere is so fun. The occasional song, dancing, and music. Great. Festive[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Fantastic 6* effort from our waiter, Ivo, from Bologna. He had great recommendations as he guided us from start to finish through our meal. Huge thanks. We had the filet mignon and gnocchi with 4 cheeses. They were so, so good. The steak was perfectly cooked and seasoned. They sliced it so it wasn't so thick which I actually enjoyed. The 4 cheeses w the gnocchi was so perfect. The cheese was very good. Loved it. Finally, with Ivo's recommendation, I really enjoyed the Affogato as a dessert. Yum. Was walking around exploring in Miami. This place was in a strip of restaurants with outdoor seating that looked cute. Service was good and at one point everybody got up from their chairs and started dancing in the street. Food was great, wgot the chicken, Parm and penne à la vodka. I had my doubts in that it seemed a bit touristy at first. But - I took some clients here and it was a great time. Homemade pastas of various kinds, good wine list, fresh seafood, Italian staff (my guy Allessandro was from Bologna so appreciated that we ordered the Bolongnese! About every 90 minutes, the staff leads a tarantella and Italian singing and dancing. My clients loved it (they are Chinese and appreciated the experience). Left the restaurant without too much damage in terms of the bill, and everyone had happy tummies (full). Pacing was good. Note: the music is a bit loud so be prepared to use your outside voice! read more

Alesso was OUTSTANDING. Never once did I have to worry about our beverages running low. The place was right by the beach, with amazing vibes, and great food! I would definitely recommend Alesso as a server, and recommend Hosteria Romana for a place to eat while in town. I will say anything other than water will cost for refills, but the most refreshing lemonades youll ever try! read more

Every time we've dined here it's always been excellent. The staff are all so sweet and friendly. Food is great and the whole ambiance is amazing. We didn't have a restaurant but they were able to accommodate seven of us. It didn't take long to get a table as there was a party finishing up. Our waiter, the sweet guy which I believe is Luca or Gino. Don't quite remember. Totally different but, believe it was one of them. The sweetest and to top things off, he remembered me from months ago at a different restaurant where he was also working. Small world and great memory. Food menu is great with all your classic Italian dishes. They even could accommodate something if it wasn't in the menu. Which was helpful for the kids that were with us. The starters were great, the large charcuterie board and the sides of olives. There was seven of us and that board was plenty. Entrees were great, the seafood pasta with the lobster tail. Bolognese, pizza all excellent. Also, I love the crowd participation with the napkins waving during a certain time. It's a crowd pleaser all the time. We were able to bring in some sweets as it was a birthday celebration. Overall, the meal was excellent. Food was great, staff were amazing and friendly. The whole experience was great. What a great night we had! We celebrated my friend's 21st birthday here a few months ago and the service was incredible. This restaurant has always been one of my favorites, known for excellent pasta and very friendly service. As a big pasta lover, I have visited this place many times and always had positive experiences. Unfortunately, this time the service was a major disappointment. This incident happened on January 21st at around 4:00 PM. Upon arrival, the host informed me that there was a 40% discount on all food items that day. The food itself -- Caesar salad and pasta -- was delicious as always. However, the service was extremely poor. First, I had to wait a very long time before anyone came to take my order. Eventually, the senior waiter/manager came and took it. Later, another waiter brought bread with salsa. However, I had to wait at least 25-30 minutes for my Caesar salad, which I find completely unacceptable for a simple salad, especially considering that the restaurant was not busy. In the past, even when the restaurant was full, the service had always been fast and professional. What concerned me even more was the lack of basic hygiene displayed by one of the waiters (a young man with a beard). He repeatedly touched his beard and then served food to customers with the same hands. In addition, when clearing my table, he stacked all the dirty plates directly in front of me on the table before removing them, which was very unpleasant and unprofessional. When he finally asked if I wanted anything else, I told him I only wanted the check, as I had already waited long enough. As an apology for the long wait, he offered me limoncello, which I politely declined, since I just wanted to pay and leave. Later, he returned and said that the manager was giving me a special 40% discount as compensation for the inconvenience and long wait. However, I replied that the 40% discount was already offered to all customers that day. This made it seem like a standard promotion was being presented as a special gesture, which was disappointing. Overall, this experience left me very disappointed, and unfortunately, I may not return to this restaurant again, as the service that day was far below acceptable standards. read more

And they had lunch specials and weekly deals. We shared their strong cuban coffee since we knew it was super strong. It was so delicious and perfect sweetness. To start, we went with their beef potato balls, and recommended empanadas de ropa vieja. Each came with two. The beef potato balls were huge and came out with a red sauce. It was fried perfectly and had lots of flavor. The empanadas though were my favorite. The crispy outer empanadas were divine. The shredded beef inside was so flavorful and moist and went well with their yummy green sauce. We loved the sauce so much we asked for more with our meal. For lunch, I had the beef skewers. It came with a side which I got black beans and it also came with some yummy plantains. The two skewers were super filling, cooked just right, and juicy. The person I came with got their cubano sandwich, which I believe is a must if you want a sandwich. It was filled with goodness, large portion, and came with fried plantain chips. Yum! Instead, we were given only the $4 happy hour discount, despite being promised otherwise. For our entrées, we ordered the brisket sandwich and the half chicken. Neither was worth ordering. The chicken lacked the crispy texture it was advertised to have, and the brisket was bland and without flavor. The sandwich was also supposed to come with truffle fries, but instead we were served cold, plain fries. After mentioning it, the solution was to bring us a side of truffle oil and Parmesan cheese and ask us to mix it ourselves. The service was equally disappointing. We asked our server twice for drink refills, but she never brought them. We eventually had to flag down another server just to get our beverages refilled. Overall, this was a frustrating dining experience from start to finish. Between the poor-quality food, unfulfilled promises regarding the bill, and inattentive service, this restaurant fell well below the standard I would expect from a Miami establishment. I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience deserves one. I sincerely hope management addresses these issues because the current level of food quality and customer service is simply unacceptable. and quality is embarrassing for miami.

This restaurant bears little resemblance to the qualities that make Italian food worth seeking out. The pasta was badly overcooked, and the tomato sauce tasted as though it had come straight from a can. The dining room was so loud that holding a normal conversation was difficult. The evening took a more troubling turn when a waiter began flambéing shrimp at a nearby table. The flames came close enough that my hair nearly caught fire, and I was splashed with burning alcohol. At that point, we decided to leave. Restaurants are free to offer table-side theatrics if they wish, but they should never come at the expense of comfort, safety, or the dining experience itself. What I encountered here was a restaurant that seemed far more interested in spectacle than in cooking. The food was disappointing, the atmosphere exhausting, and the service style intrusive rather than enjoyable. We absolutely loved Hosteria Romana on Española Way during our Miami trip! We actually went twice because my kids kept asking to go back. Hands down their favorite food of the entire vacation. Everything tasted incredibly fresh and homemade. The fettuccine Alfredo was amazing, rich and perfectly cooked fresh pasta. We also loved the garlic olive oil bread appetizer, the strawberry panna cotta, and the caramel panna cotta for dessert. My oldest daughter is still talking about the margherita pizza! The atmosphere is so lively and fun with great Italian music, beautiful patio dining, and such a welcoming vibe. It really felt like one of those memorable vacation dinners you hope to find. A special thank you to Ryan, our waiter the first night, my youngest daughter thought he was the coolest. Marco took care of us the second visit and was incredibly kind and attentive. One server, J-cell, went above and beyond by attending to tables that were not assigned to her, ensuring every customer felt valued. After suffering a significant stroke, I find it challenging to use my left hand, which made me apprehensive about ordering shrimp. However, when I asked Andrew if he could assist by removing the shells, he kindly obliged without hesitation. I was also impressed by a bartender, whose name starts with "M," who stepped out from behind the bar to help serve tables during a busy period. It was heartwarming to see kitchen staff pitching in to bus tables when the waitstaff was overwhelmed, showcasing a true team spirit. Overall, I would rate my experience a solid A+. Taking for ever to get a menu or to take my order. They are short spoken and non-friendly. And this is probably because they automatically write in an 18% tip for themselves regardless of the size of the party. You eat solo, 18% ontop of a ridiculous price menu. You can make a scene and tell them to take it out. And they will. But this made me feel so uncomfortable and made me feel like the bad guy when in reality they need to work for their tip, not expect it. He sexually assaulted me in front of everyone. And when I stood up for myself he started cursing at me saying I'm a b*tch and s*ut and to get the f*k out of his restaurant! He told me he owns esapnola way and that I better watch myself. Threatened me in front of 20 people who were appalled by what was happening. If you want to go to a place where you'll get harassed as a woman, go to this place. His own staff told us he's a moron who does too many drugs. UNACCEPTABLE. Price gouging at its worst. Sure, the ambiance is Epcot Center cute and so are the waiters' outfits, but the service was simply poor. The waiter was curt and inattentive through much of the meal. He didn't seem to find it necessary to smile at his customers or be friendly or helpful. But the worst part was the total price gouging. We should have seen it coming with the appetizers that cost $40, but the $8 water that was served to us without our ordering it and the automatic 18 % tip on a table of 2 for poor service left a bad taste in our mouth after what was actually a pretty tasty meal. They are $24 each so when they say hey, we're going to give you a special deal and it's two for one that means you're still paying $24 for two drinks so that's not crazy but just be warned. Both seafood entrées were good, but in my opinion, not a ton of food. For two grown people who like to eat, it was not enough. The bill was around $125 including a 20% tip in the bill so do not tip unless you really thought it was that good.
