I don't think I've ever left a review for Yelp, but if it will help out one person it will be worth it. I have to laugh going through the most recent reviews, SO many of them mention the check-in clerk with the weird hair/tatoos/ eye rolling and ATTITUDE! The only thing I can figure out is she must be related to the owners. After so many complaints about her, why is she still working there? She is the first person so many people have any contact with and she acts like she's doing us such a big favor. She should really re-think her career path. After check-in, it was just normal crappy motel stuff. Not enough towels, nasty vents, broken coffee maker. There was only one place open to get food and they were so short staffed it took 30 minutes to get a sandwich (not a bad sandwich). At least those employees didn't act like they were God's gift to the food industry. The electricity went out in the morning so they were only running on back-up power and so of course there was no running water. But that wasn't the hotel's fault. Won't stay there again. read more

Very rude hotel clerk, guess he's having a bad day, but didn't need to take it out on us... I think he's like a time bomb that could go off anytime.. 8/04/2016 One of the few original casinos still standing and operating under the same name since the gambling boom (1990) in Blackhawk- Went with my mom and sister for a ladies night away - Mom had member comps for a room-(free is always nice) My sister has had a lot of surgeries and is not mobile as I, so we needed extra accommodations like near an elevator for easy access- They were more then helpful and made us feel very comfortable during our stay- I decided to play in there casino and play there points to get rewards - I did spend my first hours there trying to hit something- But wasn't feeling it- Although part of my new membership was a free buffet after playing a half hour we passed by the buffet because it had a long line- We decided to dine at Farraddays for Dinner - However we took full advantage of the buffet for breakfast and think it's by far better then dinner- It may have to do with there waffles and bacon- (yum) Made my morning for sure Overall great service provided in all areas of the casino- Our room was comfortable and the two meals I had in the establishment were delicious- Overall we were satisfied and I was impressed with all they have to offer for being one of the older (but original) great casinos in Blackhawk- read more

The manager at farmer pick was very unpleasant The food was even worse We waited over an hour for our food to start arriving There was only one chef at the time serving the whole restaurant The waiter took 5ever to help us when we needed something The crab is not worth it at all!!! The crab is so dry and some clusters were even old. When I asked for a casino manager I believe Richard was his name was absolutely rude unprofessional and nasty He even had the guts to tell me I couldn't afford the food when I asked for a discount because of how bad the service and food was. The cherry on top was he even refused to apologize for the inconvenience I will never in my life come back or refer anyone here It was absolutely the worst dinner I have ever got and I'm not even trying to exaggerate read more

Amazing nice renovated interior. Pleasant stay ! We enjoyed very much . Both front desk ladies were absolutely nice and helped us with our check in . She helped us two sisters stay on the same floor a few rooms down . Room means everything and love that it's super clean and no dust as if it's old . Parking is easy and but I didn't like the fact that the elevator stops for mix floors ex: hotel room and parking garage people (hard to explain ). Starbucks just in the lobby oh how convenient! read more

This is where we typically stay, never again! After being on I70 for 4+ hours in the snow we attempted to book a room, being that this is the only pet friendly casino, sold out, okay fine, 1130 call their number about booking a reservation for 5/21/22, asking that at midnight (in 45 min) can we check in since we are stuck, they say yes absolutely, and that they would also put down we needed a pet room. Show up to the casino around 1230, front desk, rude! Says that our reservation states Saturday at 12am, ya exactly, it is currently Saturday the 21st, say nope, don't have anything and to come back in the morning. Luckily we had a friend's cabin not far and they were there. Call the next morning, tells us to come at 930am. Get there at 11, nope we have nothing for you, and especially not pet room available, umm we have paid and have a reservation, they say still we don't have a pet room, manager comes over and says just put them in the back corner of one of the rooms, but then says we can't check in until 230, 3 hours later. Oh and also, the lady from the "night" check in, literally said, "you talked to our call center, they have no clue what's going on" umm then why are they allowed to talk to you regarding reservations? And then why don't you allow to be directly dispatched through to the actual front desk at a specific location??? Never again, oh and we didn't even stay there, they booked us at the lady luck, their other casino, staff was rude about our dog, who did absolutely nothing, and we had a 2pm check out, came into our room a number of times to try and clean, there was no door sign for us to hang to say do not disturb, literally every 15 min they came in for 2 hours straight! Y'all had better service in the midst of COVID 2 years ago! Downhill since! read more

Probably more of a three star joint but I'll give it an extra star for being the only hotel in BH that allows pets. A very nice convenience! The rooms were quite nice. Reminded me of the Tropicana or Rio in Los Vegas. Quite large and modernized. The casino just OK, as was the buffet. But it was a nice hotel. read more

I booked my room on what I thought was their website and then when I got up here I found out I had been double charged for a room my room was only $59 but they charged me $117.39 on my credit card then charged another $75 and casually mentioned that my resort fee would be taken out of that. In addition the front desk staff was not very helpful and every time I made coffee or tried to make coffee in my room all the power shut off. I was only up really early to make coffee because housekeeping kept knocking on my door even though my checkout time was 11:00. This was a better hotel when it was the Isle of Capri versus being the horseshoe read more

The Isle Hotel room through comp. This was my 1st hotel stay. Although the rooms are beautiful and the stay was nice, what differs staying here to vacationing and staying in Vegas is, there's so much more to do in Vegas. Gambling is less in Vegas, or if you "are" gambling in Vegas, you enjoy it more because of all the excitement. Wish there were more to do in the hills. Again, customer service at this Casino from the game area, to the buffet... is awesome. The housekeepers are quick and they do such an excellent job. The balcony view is breathtaking beautiful. read more

Too bad there ain't a Bull Shit Staff Award because here they would definitely win it. They will really try to give you a hard time because they don't believe you're 21 years old. Obviously when someone turns 21 you're gonna expect them to have fun, the manager there really made me go here and there to sign in for all this and giving me a hard time when all they could do is just say "Download this app to get your digital ID." They love that attention because 5 security guards just stood there watching me on my phone do all the work, they just stood there lolly gagging when someone could be starting trouble at the back or even an underage person was able to get in, they were really just focused on me doing all this like they thought I was going to start a riot. I was able to go back to gambling and when I turned around there were 2 of them following me giving me a smirk thinking that they scared me. THEY THOUGHT lmao. No wonder everyone is not happy there. I highly recommend playing poker at the Monarch Casino. read more

We love coming to BlackHawk and the Isle and Lady Luck is our fav places to stay. We have trouble in the past but they always fixed it and dis not have a problem. We booked a weekend and was told that our room that was a suit was $129 for Friday and about $169 for Saturday. I did not want to deal with the front desk so I called the 800 number to make a complaint. I was told right away that I was wrong that it is not that suit price. I told get that is what I was told and she said my choice was to take the time and have the desk to pull my call and listen to it... All I wanted to do was make a complaint. Now I don't want to come back to this hotel... I was about to book two rooms for February... All I wanted to do is make a complaint. Thank you Isle for responding... That was all I wanted. Can you send the number to the actual blackhawk front desk so we do not have to go through the reservation desk that caused this error. read more

We had an amazing room here. It was spacious and clean and comfy. The shower was one of the largest I have seen! I thoroughly enjoyed our over night stay in the room. I can't say anything very good about the casino. We used to enjoy it but not now! Could the acquisition by Caesars be the reason? Not sure! We played in the casino for 5 hours and only saw ONE drink server named Cecelia. She took our orders and NEVER returned! They did not clean slot machines in between players. They put up ugly homemade partitions in a few areas of the casino. I am not sure how they are helping. And, the machines seemed to pay out better in the past. The casino was quieter the next morning but only saw one person serving coffee/drinks. We didn't stay long enough to see if she would return to wait on us as we were going down the street to pay for coffee. Overall, not a visit that makes me want to return anytime soon, but might give it another chance. read more

I actually never got to stay at the hotel, but I attempted to make a hotel room reservation online. I entered my card information to make the reservation and received a message back that indicated that the website was experiencing issues and to try again later. I attempted to make a reservation 4 more times until I received a confirmation that the transaction had gone through. Later that same day, my plans changed and I had to cancelled the reservation, which was confirmed by email. Regardless, I was charged twice for one night. I called the hotel and spoke to the Hotel Manager (Neil) who informed me that he would not refund one of the charges because he considered it a "no show". It is very disappointing that the Isle of Capri does not have adequate reservation systems and will not even acknowledge their tech issues despite such an obvious error in their reservation system. If you do decide to stay here, check your bill for erroneous charges! read more

****Attention Do NOT, I mean DO NOT STAY HERE!!!**** Worse hotel stay ever, from lazy rude front desk to no house keeping (no cleaning of the room or clean towels) to having no power or running water. Booked the room for 4 people and were not given enough towels. If you want extra towels you have to go get them yourself. Even when I asked in the am for towels to be available to us for later for 4 people, we came back to a dirty room and no fresh towels. Then on the day we were going to check out we woke up to no running water or electricity. You would think we would at least get one apology, no we didn't! At least apologize and deliver water to your customers so we can at least brush our teeth. I've stayed at Motel 6 that treat their customers with respect and have better customer service. Also, we had our 4 legged family members with us and were told that there was an area for them on the 3rd floor parking garage. We took them and they ran out of bags so we went to the front desk to ask for some and stated to the front desk that they were out. She rolled her eyes and brought some from the back and still had the nerves to tell us that she's pretty sure that there are bags in that pet area even after we had already told her there were none. Oh and if you think we were the only ones complaining, we weren't. Found a few (about 10 different parties complaining about the bad service and icing in the cake (blackout/ no running water). read more

We paid $150 plus for a room that was so bad. View of Parking lot which you can barely see because the windows were so dirty. Very dated. Shower doors did not close at all...therefore water everywhere. Free buffet with players card is a joke. Did not happen. Buffet not good. Cost over $25. for fried food. Dirty dining room.Dash is a nightmare I got a raw hot dog & raw BLT. Almost all gamimg tables were closed. No buffet servers. Then they charge a "resort" fee. HUH? For what? No hot tub, spa, pool, room service. What is the "resort" part? No one to help with bags. Construction everywhere. Very rude check in staff. Well on a good note I won some money at this casino. But the thing that I found that turned my stomach was there elevator area ... smells like fish. Really bad smell when needing to use elevator to parking. Plus not enough employees working front desk for check in..we got in at 4pm at check in time and there was a long line and one lone guy at the desk. Will NEVER be back! Terrible from the minute we checked in. First ... the lady who checked us in was VERY rude ... (should have gotten her name but was heavy set w/glasses & we checked in about 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 30th) ... she hardly looked at us, to the point where my friend and I just looked at each other like, wow, she is having a bad day. Not a good first impression to say the least. Then we get to the room ... we paid for a "Jr. Suite" meaning a hot tub was to be "in the room", nope, just a jetted bathtub IN the actual bathroom. That should probably be clarified at the time of booking so as not to give the wrong impression. Then, we immediately noticed a big ol' black hair on the bathroom counter (which looked like, and we assumed was, a pubic hair). Disgusting. Had dinner at Farraday's ... ordered a filet mignon "medium" and it came very well-done, nearly burned. But, to give credit where credit is due ... the waiter was VERY nice and immediately advised he'd re-order the steak and would make sure it was correctly prepared. We waited a good 30 mins and never received the steak so finally asked the waiter to cancel it altogether. On the up side, the mac-n-cheese was to die for! Then the final straw ... my friend and I played Blackjack all night, probably had 4 or 5 drinks in the course of 6 hours (including w/dinner) not even remotely "intoxicated" but security came and ordered my friend off the casino floor due to being "highly intoxicated" ... ummmm ... not even close. Where did that come from? We were in SHOCK! They even followed us to the elevator to make sure we didn't double back LOL ... we were treated like we had broken the law or something. The lady half of the couple we were sitting next to at the Blackjack table was SO drunk, her husband had to keep pushing her upright so she wouldn't fall out of her chair, but nope, we were quiet and minding our own business and got humiliated and degraded. Could it have been that this completely inebriated woman had thousands of dollars of chips on the table in play?? Well not that Isle Capri cares but we will NEVER be back. This was the first stay here for both my friend and I. We normally stay at the Ameristar (and in 15 years and over 25 stays, have NEVER had ANY issues) ... but they were booked so we had to give Isle a try. Trust me, GO TO AMERISTAR!!!!!!!! ;) P.S. The ONLY other positive feedback I can give (besides the delectable mac-n-cheese) is that the valet staff was extremely nice and friendly. read more

I live just outside of Nederland and decided to escape the floods by taking the one remaining open road to Black Hawk. I really needed a shower and clearly the universe wanted me to play Blackjack. I called ahead and asked if they had rooms available for immediate check-in (this was at 2PM) and was assured yes there was a room available right away. So I get to the hotel and tip the valet to take my car, only be told by a somewhat rude clerk that the internet was down and I couldn't check in until 4PM (despite what I had been told on the phone). Apparently hotels and casinos were invented just after the internet and they can't function on any level without it. So I wait in the lobby for a couple of hours, only then to be told that it would be closer to 4:30 or 5:00 PM. The desk staff continued to have the attitude of a zombie apocalypse. So I went and found one of the floor managers upstairs. I have a PC and and have played thousands at this casino so thought maybe they would help. He investigated the situation, took my bags into a secure area, and assured me he would call me by 4:30 with a room or an update. So I went to the casino, which oddly enough continued to operate despite the issues in the hotel. Hmmm.... No call ever came, and I was checked into my room around 5:30. I understand with storm conditions this review may seem a little petulant but Black Hawk was fine, no flooding, Ameristar was able to check in guests, and I was repeatedly jerked around by reservations, desk staff, and management who offered nothing but false promises and contempt. That is NEVER acceptable. read more

Having my own business in the food industry I'm more "aware" how food should be handled as well as cleanliness. Yeah, watching the guy carve meat...gross! I literally watched him with his gloves on poke around to get something out of his eye, and keep his gloves on. He never washed his hands and put a new pair of clean gloves on. He simply kept going with dirty gloves with eye goop and goes back to carving meat. If that wasn't enough he then whips out his phone with his gloves still on and texts on his phone. Then back to carving more meat. Yuck! I think I'll head back to Ameristar. read more

This place is like heaven's waiting room, if anyone wondered how a significant portion of Colorado's retired community spends a Friday afternoon, look no further than the Isle of Capri. I was in Denver on groomsman duty for a close friend's wedding extravaganza, part of which included a party bus trip to Blackhawk. We had a couple hours so my brother and I set out to explore the Isle, we spent most of our time at the 3 card poker table where both of us came out decently ahead (the best man won $4000 on one slot pull up the street) All in all the trip was a success, the only thing I am disappointed about was not taking advantage of the free drinks, I didn't realize it was the same as Vegas and avoided the cocktail waitresses as I was uninterested in paying too much for a tiny drink...tisk tisk I should have known better. My only real question is about all of these hotels...who is staying in these? There is nothing else to do in town but gamble, and most of the mountain attractions are much further west. Nonetheless this is a delightful outing from Denver and the Isle of Capri is a great place to stop on your tour of Colorado's finest gambling bodegas. read more

My boyfriend and I are regulars to Blackhawk and Central City. The Isle is not our favorite at all! The service is below standard and expectations. Bar tender skipped us twice to handle the "white folks" first even after seeing us wait for 10 minutes while he chatted instead. Luckily the customer he decided to serve before us was kind enough to let him know we were there first. The bartender asked if we were gambling otherwise we had to pay. We were sitting at a slot machine for over half an hour with no waitress attending and was the reason why we even got up to get a drink. He was just trying to be an asshole overall. To summarize, Isle casino employees are rude, lack customer service, and simply will not be coming back. I rather lose my money at The Monarch and get treated better. The Experience is what makes up for the loses - in the worst case scenario. read more

My Husband and I are staying at Ameristar. We had wrist bands on that verify we are over 21. So, we decide to go casino hopping to the Isle of Capri. It's Valentines, so we are spreading the love with our funds Lol!! We walk into the casino and right away the security guard is sizing us up. He ask, oh do you guys want wrist bands? Than, he says can I see your id? Than we tell him we are forty years old and as he saw we had wrist bands from Ameristar . Then he says, well it can be fake and so can your Id. So I denied a new wrist band and showed him my ID. I told him he was being ridiculous. Long story short. Sorry we did not stay and make deposits to your casino. I think if a security can't have better common sense on screening skills. I will not be back anytime soon! Even with that understanding of policy. Your Security was not Checking everyone's ID on Valentines Day!!! A lot of people were walking by. We've been going to the isle since 2004 and maybe the customer service of the security guard could been more professional. read more

Stayed at the hotel and did the buffet. Hotel was clean, and I was happy with the room (5th floor, spa room). I liked the casino, but a casino is pretty much a casino in my opinion. The reason my rating is so low is the Calypso buffet. Was there on a Thursday night and the food was not that great (especially for the $23 or so it costs). Roast was cold, crab legs had no meat in them, and the desserts had been sitting for quite a while. Also was entertained by the manager talking to an employee about staying later, then after that gossiping to another employee about it. Manager protip: don't talk about staff issues in front of customers After this experience I am just glad we didn't have to actually order the food as I'm sure the experience would've been horrific given the lack of customer service. Not going back to this buffet again. read more

I recently relocated to the Denver area after spending a year and three months in Reno, NV, and being in a situation where I really didn't want to leave there, I thought decent gaming was gone for good. However, I was pretty surprised when I discovered the proximity of Black Hawk to Denver upon my arrival here, so I took a little road trip, and the Isle was the first casino I hit. It was definitely worth it. I was expecting Black Hawk to be sub-par in comparison to some of the bigger gambling destinations out there, or at least be something more along the lines of the cruise ships or maybe the tribal casinos as far as paybacks go, so I was definitely surprised to see real Nevada-style gaming here, with several loose machines. I've dealt with many slot clubs over the years who don't even blink when you sign up, much less hand out real money, but the Isle has pulled through for me very well in that department. Further visits have yielded some of the best cash back and complimentaries I've received anywhere in quite some time. Drink service is rapid (although I believe the energy drink was generic vs. real Red Bull), and I noticed that there are several self-serve beverage stations for non-alcoholic drinks. Lots of machines with decent paybacks that let you hold your own. I witnessed a player hit a $42,000 Triple Blazing Sevens progressive jackpot on one visit. Most importantly, I was really pleased with security and the clientele of people that visit Black Hawk in general. It seems like just about every casino venue in some of the bigger gaming cities often is attached with some type of riff raff, but I've encountered no issues here. The Isle is connected via skybridge to the Lady Luck, another awesome spot (see separate review). Calypso's Buffet is great, although they could stand having a bigger selection of meats on certain nights. I think they mostly focus on their all you can eat crab legs. The burgers and hot dogs at the Tradewinds café are really good. After missing the shuttle bus on one visit and being stranded in Black Hawk for the evening, the Isle was kind enough to comp me a room without requiring the need to have the physical paper coupon in my hand - another big plus, as I've been stuck in this scenario at other casinos in the past where no paper coupon = no entry. Beyond that, I was upgraded to a junior jacuzzi suite with a balcony at no additional charge. I think they remodeled a few years back. No issues with the room whatsoever. The jacuzzi was awesome, along with being able to chill out on the balcony and watch the sun rise. Definitely recommend, but my ONLY suggestion in the "room for improvement" category: Out of all of the casinos in Black Hawk, unfortunately the Isle seems to not really have any requirements regarding the control of greedy machine players, and the process for correctly reserving machines. I'll mention in a heartbeat that I have very serious issues with greedy slot players, and this place can get downright annoying - usually, standard casino etiquette dictates that it's one machine per player, especially during peak periods, and it's usually customary to call a slot attendant to cap a machine with a "reserved" sign for a timeframe when the machine is not being played. In addition, there are usually limits on that timeframe. Here, however, I've seen rows and rows and rows of machines being blocked for days on end with backwards propped up chairs, piles of to-go food boxes, and piles of coats by the old Asian grandmas and those few desperate compulsive gambler types I've repeatedly seen in there who don't seem to give a rat's ass about being courteous towards others. I've received dead silence in response to this when asking staff members about it, but mark my word, the Isle is the only place this happens in Black Hawk. UPDATE: After several visits over the past few months, I've determined that the Isle is definitely the place to play Blazing Sevens. There's even a few 50 cent denomination models in the mix, which I haven't seen elsewhere. read more

Don't ask me how this works, but there is a little old casino town in the mountains right outside of Denver. You're driving along a nice scenic road, just you and nature... and BAM! There it is, a magical little casino town. You make your way in, and it feels just like Las Vegas. Well, not really..but they have the coin slots, and even $3 Black Jack tables. Just like the Multimillion dollar casinos in Vegas- the cocktail waitresses in their skimpy outfits will bring you a drink on the house. So long as you keep gambling away! Now, I didn't learn much about the history of this town, but as you get back in the car and drive 1/4 mile you look back, and it's gone. An interesting place, to say the least. Definitely worth the stop! read more

I like the Isle as far as the Casino goes, but as of late, the buffet is all about the crab legs and the rest of the food has gone downhill. I don't like crab, so that is not a big deal to me. People have plates and plates of these long crab legs hanging over their plate. The brisket is usually tough and fatty, and they don't replace trays of food very often. It is very crowded and quite picked over. It used to be much better. If you like pho, they have a station for that, but there is a large crowd. The salad bar never has enough quality salad out, just lots of iceberg lettuce. All in all, if it is a comp, it is fine, and if you are paying $21 for it and eat five pounds of crab legs it is fine. Otherwise go elsewhere. read more
