Let's of new games
Bonni R.

Large casino with several dining options. Servers are almost nonexistent on the casino floor but there are a couple of self serve beverage stations. They have a poker room but it's not very busy - they're lucky to get one table. They have a baccarat area as well as lots of table games. Fun place to play but keep those expectations low.

Damage to a vehicle. A male car, the F into the a car door
Dawn R.

When parking my car on 6/22 I witnessed a male carve the letter F into a vehicle, parked next to him. When I reported to this to the security department as well as the police, nobody really took me seriously. I would strongly caution anyone parking in this garage.

I typically stay here but the last 2 times were not great. Went up 3-1 for my son's birthday. Checking in the gentlemen was not friendly I have had him before and same attitude. I get to my room the doors are wide open for the balcony a generator was running in my bathroom, a cleaning rag was on the carpet floor. The elevators were dirty, the machines were dirty. Then the next morning it's 930AM housekeeping comes in my room no knock no nothing. I clearly have a do not disturb sign on my door or I haven't even checked out and check out isn't til 11. I am platinum status here but it shouldn't matter everyone should receive great customer service, clean environment, and an enjoyable stay.

Closet in junior suite
Bee W.

Stayed here when it was Isle of Capri. It's redecorated. They're adding a restaurant. There's a fancy food dispenser that's self serve. Starbucks on the lower floor. We checked in and because the person who booked us for our room prize didn't book us into the right size room, got an upgrade. Yay! Neil at the front desk did that for us as our prize allowed us to book a junior suite room. Came with some credits too so he loaded those. Had self parked in the garage so we went back for our luggage and headed upstairs. The room was not what I considered a 'suite' size but the bathroom was nice. Love the shower stall! Water pressure so good and I love the seat in the shower stall. There's a patio door but no patio. Still nice to be able to open it and let the fresh mountain breeze in. The air outside was cooler than inside so that helped. The casino was nice. A beverage area for self serve drinks. Nicer restrooms. People who work there fluctuate between nice and downright not. The cafe and restaurant not great. We went out to eat. They don't charge parking fees but the resort fee per day of $35 gets you. There's a shuttle stop right out front which is handy. And close to the creek walk. There's a desk with computer and printer and a lovely seating area with a fireplace. Small convenience area with necessities and snacks. We walked to a convenience store a few blocks away to get water and beer. More affordable. I also wasn't happy when I dropped my lipstick and reached under the dresser and touched something squishy. It was a cotton ball along with some other dirt. Obviously the room hasn't been thoroughly cleaned in a while. It was disgusting. I'm not sure if I would stay at this hotel again. The cotton ball and the bad food kinda killed it. And there wasn't enough to overcome those negatives. Nothing special. Nothing special in service either. Took a while to get my rewards card activated. Doing it online didn't complete the process or make it easier. And there's no one to explain that you should combine your winning ticket print outs into one so the cashier was grumpy at me. How am I supposed to know? So while I was glad of the win which allowed me to have a getaway, I don't know if I would have paid to stay.

Gross.

Really liked staying here but after our last visit will choose different resort. We had a moldy shower and after letting the manager know she had me spending my time email pics. She offer for someone to clean it which should have been done already I'm like give me clorox wipes I'll do it . I then said maybe you should give us a discount for dealing with this but nope paid I full won't be back.

It was honestly a very disappointing way to start a birthday stay. When we first walked into our room, I was immediately shocked by how dirty it was. There was dirt on the bed, crumbs everywhere, and the room just did not feel like it had been properly cleaned before we arrived. I understand that hotels can occasionally miss something during housekeeping, but this was more than just one small oversight. When you're paying to stay at a hotel, especially for a birthday celebration, you expect the room to be clean and ready when you arrive. We ended up getting switched to another room, but unfortunately, that room had cleanliness issues too. The tub and toilet were dirty, which was extremely frustrating after we had already gone through the trouble of changing rooms. At that point, I was just hoping we could finally settle in and enjoy the night without having to deal with another issue. Then, the next morning, I woke up with bug bites on my legs and abdomen. I obviously can't say for certain what caused the bites or that there are bedbugs at the hotel, but given everything else that had already happened with the cleanliness of the rooms, it was definitely concerning and made me question the cleanliness of the room even more. That was not exactly how I wanted to wake up after coming here for my birthday. Unfortunately, even the actual casino came with its own issue because the craps machine ended up taking my money, and a formal investigation had to be done on the machine. I understand that technical issues can happen, but when you're already dealing with multiple problems during your stay, having another unexpected issue just adds to the frustration. I really wanted this to be a fun and relaxing birthday stay, but instead, I spent a significant amount of time dealing with problems that I shouldn't have had to deal with in the first place. Having to switch rooms because the first one was dirty, finding cleanliness issues in the second room, waking up with unexplained bites, and then having an issue with the casino machine made the entire experience feel like more hassle than it was worth. The pool, hot tub, and casino had some positives, but unfortunately, those things weren't enough to make up for everything else. This was my first time staying at Ameristar, and based on this experience, I don't think I'll be rushing back. I usually stay at the Monarch, and after this trip, I think I'll be keeping it that way. For what I expected to be a relaxing birthday getaway, it was way more stressful than it needed to be.

I signed up for their players card as you get new member perks. 1 point equals $1 dollar in coin in value. We wanted to try the lobster tails at the buffet as that was their promotion. My wife and I played here and I went straight to the high limit room. I have to admit they do have a great selection of games for high volatility to low ones as well. I played this cheesy carnival game that I never seen before and I ended up getting the bonus twice. The rest of the games I either broke even and decided to walk away with any bonuses. I hardly got any bonuses on the games. So here were the incentives of play 1. 100 points $15 dollar in food credit 2. 250 points free play (ranges from $10 to $500) 3. 1000 points (got food $25 credit and $50 free play) I ended up getting the 1000 points and I played 2 spins on black diamond and ended up getting $300 dollars which was nice. I played top dollar, butterfly 7's, Wheel of Fortune, some selection of high limit aristocrat game and Stinkin Riches, but no bonuses. I probably would have played longer here if I was winning, but that was okay. I had a good time here with the little time I had at the casino. I ended up eating at Jake's. Not so sure what offers they will send me but my wife and I are not going to go to Colorado anytime soon.

Update: Went back yesterday for dinner and I see what some people are complaining about; from the time I got seated it took a good 20 minutes before the waitress took my order. In her defense, she was by herself and she was acting as hostess/waitress/cashier/busboy and the place was pretty busy...I didn't hold it against her, they need more help. Also, there's a lot more slot machines here than I thought. My guess was that they had a couple dozen, but it's more like 100. Always somebody playing, so I guess some people like to play here.

She also celebrated her 22nd anniversary working at Red Dolly the night we visited the restaurant. The prime rib was thin-ish but delicious, baked potato was creamy, the dinner came with a potato - mashed, baked or fries - of your choosing, or you can pick onion rings. So it's a casino…read more But today, when it's common to find casinos towering over the landscape, it's nice to know that the little guys can still hang in there. And thus is the case of the Bull Durham Casino. When you first walk in you will notice that the floor consists of two main rooms: the first room is the smaller of the two and has the cashier's cage and the bar while the second houses more games, the snack counter window, and the restrooms. At first glance you will notice that it's a tight fit. The first room is packed to the gills with out dated slots. This isn't always a bad thing as you can find some games that you thought were wiped off the face of the earth. There are no table games in this casino. In days past, the smell of cigarette smoke used to fill this room to the point where you would have to run to the second room to get a little fresh air. This isn't the case any more. The smoke smell is gone. What you will notice though is that the cigarette smell has been heavily replaced by the smell of urine. I'm not sure where this comes from as the restrooms aren't even close to the front room. Perhaps an elderly gambler had a leaky adult diaper or pissed themselves after winning the $8.50 progressive jackpot. The smell is heaviest near the transition to the second room. The second room has more outdated games. You can get a players club card in this room as well to use throughout the casino. In general, this room is the cleaner of the two. The restrooms are clean as well and have been recently remodeled. Overall, the appearance, smell, and layout of this casino gets a nice rating. I gave more stars for the refreshments. The beer here is always nice and cold. I don't think they have cocktail waitresses here, so you just walk up to the bar and get a cold one. They often have little dining events (is. Father's Day BBQ), but I have never been to one. Everyday with your players card, you are entitled to one of their hotdogs for free. We usually get one and pay an extra dollar for chili and cheese. You can also load it up with jalapeños, relish, ketchup, mustard, hot sauce, etc...This hotdogs have crack in them I think, because they are pretty damn good. It will make you with they were all you can eat. You don't need a nasty casino buffet here, just endless hotdogs. They also have other selections, such as nachos and polish sausages for example. Overall, the Bull Durham Casino is worth stopping in during your visit to Blackhawk. I don't think you would want to spend your whole day here, but some time wouldn't be a bad idea. Plus, you are helping out the little guy by not going to the Isle of Capri or AmeriStar.

Upon entering the room, I was surprised by how small it was, especially considering we paid approximately $200 for the night. Honestly, the room reminded me more of a $60 Super 8 than a hotel charging this price point. This was a rare romantic getaway for my husband and me. We both work incredibly hard, and opportunities to get away and do something for ourselves are few and far between. We typically spend our time with our children and family, especially around Halloween, which is our favorite holiday. We even brought costumes with us, anticipating that Black Hawk would have a fun, festive atmosphere and that this would be a memorable little getaway. Unfortunately, the Halloween experience was just as underwhelming as the accommodations. We decided to go down and check out the casino before getting dressed up, and I'm glad we did because there was very little indication that Halloween was being celebrated. There were perhaps a handful of guests dressed up and a few employees in costumes, but beyond that, there was nothing particularly festive. I had hoped to see some special Halloween drawings, games, candy stations, or other activities that would make guests feel like they were actually part of a Halloween celebration. Instead, it felt like an ordinary casino night. Needless to say, we decided not to bother with our costumes. The casino experience itself brought additional frustration. The games were confusing when it came to understanding the actual betting amounts. I unknowingly sat down at a game that I thought had a $5 minimum bet, only to discover that it was actually a $50 bet. I ended up losing $100 in just two plays without realizing what I had actually wagered. That was incredibly frustrating and put a significant damper on the evening. Clearer and more visible betting information would have gone a long way toward preventing that experience. And there were several things about the room that were underwhelming. The bathroom faucet had visible watermarks and lacked the clean, polished appearance I would expect from a room at this price point. The heating and air conditioning were also inconsistent, fluctuating between temperature extremes rather than maintaining the temperature set on the controls. Additionally, the pillows were extremely disappointing. They were floppy, with uneven, clumpy stuffing that made it difficult to get proper neck support or get comfortable. Overall, I left feeling extremely let down. I understand that hotel rooms vary in size and that not every stay will be luxurious, but when a property charges $200 per night, there should be a reasonable expectation of cleanliness, comfort, and quality. Likewise, when guests choose to visit during a holiday known for its festivities, some effort toward creating that atmosphere would be appreciated. We weren't expecting an extravagant production, just a fun, memorable experience and a little opportunity to celebrate our favorite holiday while enjoying some much-needed time together. Unfortunately, neither the accommodations nor the casino atmosphere delivered that experience. Between the disappointing room, lack of Halloween festivities, and frustrating gaming experience, the overall value simply wasn't there. What should have been a special getaway for my husband and me instead left us wishing we had spent our time and money elsewhere.
