They showed up in plenty of time, and had the time hitched and ready. The carriage is beautiful and comfortable, and was exactly the kind of classy we wanted for our party. (They have a more rustic wagon, as well, if you're going for a farm/country theme). The team is lovely and well-kept. I've owned horses almost 50 years, and these mares were in superb condition, cheerfully tootling around the neighborhood, very well behaved. Perfect hooves with recent shoes. Amazingly clean in our muddy winter (I can't get my grey that clean!) Laura and Patrick were extremely courteous and patient with all of the city folks wanting pictures next to the horses, etc. The team were obedient and safe. Will definitely hire them again next time we're having a party!! Would hire them for a wedding in a flash - they will not disappoint your bride!

Brenda, the owner, is an incredibly warm and friendly person who does some wonderful things at her farm. The day we arrived for our trail ride Brenda greeted us, got us situated with gear and horses. Then she personally adjusted the saddles and stirrups to ensure the best fit. The farm has a number of volunteers who help guide the riders through the trails in the beautiful surrounding countryside. Our two volunteers were incredibly polite and thoughtful as they guided us through the ride. The horses were gentle and responsive. The entire experience was wonderful from start to finish. After we returned to the stables Brenda talked about the impact the horse therapy they do at the farm has had on participants. This has literally changed peoples lives. Outstanding place and people. We will absolutely be returning. Highly recommended.

A lot of people evaluate a trainer by their experience. Barrett has that down, since she has over 20 years experience in the equestrian (dressage / eventing) world. However, being a great trainer requires 2 other aspects that are super important which Barrett shines in. The first of those 2 things is to make things enjoyable, entertaining and fun. There's many highly qualified trainers that are so burnt out that they make lessons like pulling teeth. Barrett instructs in ways where you can tell she loves the sport and that love for it is contagious for all of us. The second thing is the ability to convey that knowledge to someone. It's not just about knowing it, but actually being able to explain it in so many different ways and angles that she can make a concept make sense to someone that's 7 or 70 years old, experienced, or even completely new to riding. Barrett has shown she can easily adapt her lesson to any of these situations. Highly recommended!

She is right there with the student, engaged the entire time, coaching and instructing. My 13 year old son quickly connected with her and respected her leadership and instruction. We transferred our child to Bright Horizons when we first moved into the area. Our child had no issues at his previous daycare before coming to Bright Horizons. But our child was kicked out of Bright Horizons WITH NOT A SINGLE DAY TO TRANSITION TO ANOTHER DAYCARE OPTION because our 2 year old child who is diagnosed as mildly autistic liked to play with doors. My wife and I both work so this was a major issue for us. If that sounds reasonable to you then by all means, feel free to come to this place. Be aware that what happened to my family may happen to you. Most kids are not diagnosed with autism till they are older - like 3 or 4 years old so this businesses inability to cope may be a problem for you. To be blunt though, I don't think the issue was with our child. We found another daycare two blocks away on short notice who took our child and had absolutely no issue with them. They in fact offered to take them on a permanent basis after several weeks. We like the new place but decided to transferred to another daycare who supported special needs kids in Raleigh. Our child's new teacher loved our son so it all worked out for the best. To summarize: - Three schools had no issue with our child and this one throws him out with no ability to transition. - The staff that had an issue with my child are still showing up on their web site as of this posting. - The the level of empathy and professionalism demonstrated at this business is, in my opinion, lacking. Buyer beware.

While you have the opportunity to do horse shows (eventing; hunter/jumper; dressage; drill team), it definitely does not have the snobby "show barn" vibe like many places. It really is a team/family environment and I've made some wonderful friends here who I do things with away from lessons. Horses have a way of bringing people together! Heather (owner/operator) has been doing this for decades and is incredibly knowledgeable both in horse care and riding itself. She gets to know each individual student and their quirks/personalities. You won't just be sitting on a pony walking around a ring...you will learn the ins and outs of horsemanship and equitation. I appreciate that Heather takes the time to explain the mechanics of things rather than just pointing you at a jump. Safety is the top priority (closely followed by "Did you have fun?") for both riders and horses. I have ridden off and on since I was around 10 and I can say that Castle Farm ranks #1 for this of anywhere I've been previously. Lessons (group and private) are available for children and adults every day except for Thursdays and Sundays. There are around 15-20 horses, all of them with individual personalities and for riders of varying skill levels. The farm has a medium sized arena/stadium jump ring, a large field with various cross country jumps, another field with stadium jumps, and a grassy dressage arena. Come check it out!
