If you are new to the area and are looking for a gym, I would stay away from Gold's Gym. I have…read morebeen a member there for just about 9 months and unfortunately sustained an injury that prohibits me from working out, instead of simply giving a doctors note to the actual location and facility I use, Gold's Gym will give you the run around and make you go submit a form with their 3rd party payment provider called Peak Payment Solutions, meanwhile Peak's support takes "5-7 business days" to respond and will keep charging your account. I find it strange that the organization and physical location of the facility you use is unable to do a medical freeze but instead will route you to a 3rd party. I have a suspicion they want to make the process so arduous that the member just gives up and they can continue to collect unjust fees. The FTC just filed a lawsuit against LA Fitness for similar practices. I have logged a complaint with both the FTC and the NC DOJ for bad business practices. If anyone has experienced a similar situation with Gold's Gym, I urge you to do the same and hopefully you don't get injured!!

She has needlessly scolded people and is always strangely confrontational, even with gym members who are taking care their own business. The problem isn't the workout; it's a facility that is okay with tolerating disgruntled workers. Prospective gym members should further evaluate if they value atmosphere as much as the equipment. And to current gym members who likely recognize this animosity, it's hard to miss.

Welcoming and for everyone…read more All levels of fitness are welcome. I've been an athlete, in the army, sick, recovering from surgeries and starting from a deficit due to age and weight. This gym is a place of healing and motivation for every one of those moments in life. In my short time here, my one month membership was welcome. (Only passing through.) There are cross fit athletes, parents that need some movement, high school athletes in teen classes, managers trying fitness for the first time, and everything in between. The coaches have modifications for every exercise. You push your time if you want. Lifting. You work on what you want to work on. All the while, being surrounded by amazing people doing the same thing. I meet new gym friends every class. This is that place you've been looking for, to get your body moving.

I had got overweight and lazy as an adult and knew I needed to try something. Gym membership wasn't enough. Running wasn't enough. Yoga wasn't enough. Small-group weight-training was THE difference maker. I've come 180 degrees on my opinion on strength training: it's not just for gym rats and bodybuilders, it is essential for human flourishing. Our bodies need to struggle against heavy weights - and if you are in the area there's no better place to struggle with an awesome crowd of people than at CrossFit Angier.

Having just returned to Jazzercise Fuquay-Varina after a long break I felt the need to write…read moreanother review of this great center. This is an amazing workout that makes you forget you are exercising. Jazzercise combines the best of both cardio and strength training in every class. I love that I can sing along to songs I hear on the radio, and not just top 40. There is something for everyone; country, Latin, classics rock. It's all there. Even the most annoying, always stuck in my head even when I don't want it to be, song becomes fun when paired with Jazzercise choreography. And the best part, the next day when you get out of bed and start to feel the soreness in your muscles, that little reminder that you did workout. All that came from an hour on the dance floor. Speaking specifically about the Fuquay-Varina location: the ladies are incredible. I have done Jazzercise all over the country and at each center I feel like I am walking into a friend's house. The Fuquay location was no different. This center was my lifeline when I moved to Fuquay. I did not know anyone here, but every day I would take an hour away from my moving boxes and go to Jazzercise. I was always greeted with a hello and a smile, and sometimes a hug, from the instructors. The women in class were warm and welcoming. Best of all, this is a no judgment zone. Everyone is encouraged to participate at their own level and all milestones are celebrated with the same enthusiasm. Jazzercise works. It is good for your mind, body and soul. And if you are worried about the leotards and leg warmers- they're optional.
