This place was a very welcome refuge on a very cold day. They have burger bar style fixed seating, brushed metal counter, tiled walls and a light-up menu over the counter. Heading towards 'Chain' style, which is a shame perhaps, but still worth a visit in my opinion.
I had hot chocolate, which was good, and toast, which was well cooked. Nicely browned, not burnt, and loads of butter. Though we were only in for a cuppa we did goggle a bit at what another customer was eating. What appeared to be a whole leg of pork, which looked to be falling-apart tender. It was at the summit of a gargantuan plate of vegetables. The peas looked a little overcooked to me, but you certainly couldn't fault them on generosity. You could have fed three at least on that plateful.
While I prefer something a little more personal when it comes to décor, this place definitely delivers on value.
I've also found reference to a café at this address called the Golden Griddle. A previous name maybe? read more
