She gave us the genius advice of coming here on a non market day (any day other than Sunday) and she was CORRECT! we came here on a Saturday for lunch and had maybe two people in line in front of us. When we were walking in the area on Sunday, the line was literally down the street and around the block. That being said the food was so good that it would fully be worth waiting in a line for. DELICIOUS jamon, perfect bread with the most delicious tomato spread. I literally can't recommend this place enough and it's a must do when you are in Madrid!!!!!

Wandering through El Rastro, the line streaming from this place caught my attention. I tried to…read morepeer through the hoard of people to see what the fuss was about but it was nearly impossible to get a good look. Instead, I scanned the groups of people devouring delicious looking tostas off of Styrofoam trays outside of the shop and decided I had to give it a try for myself. We jumped in line and it moved surprisingly fast. Within minutes we were inside and pushed to the bar to put in our order. I had seen so many tempting things go by and by that time decided that I wanted to try the pulpo, while my friends got the chorizo and jamon. We took them outside to plop down on the street and dig in. I found the pulpo to taste fresh and I thought the olive oil they drizzled on top was a nice touch. I had a taste of the chorizo and loved it too. Definitely don't let the crowd deter you from giving this place a try. It's a great addition to any Sunday afternoon spent scoping for bargains.

The wine selection had great variety and we were excited to see a Malbec from a winery we've actually been to! Every detail of this restaurant was a consistent theme of "welcome home" the napkins seemed to be signed with the name of the restaurant, the lighting, was enough but dim, not crazy bright. The seats were comfortable and the tables were intimate. I'm definitely writing this review so we can try to remember this place when we come back next year! My dinner was eggplant, there was so much flavor in my dish and I remember there being several vegetarian options.

A gem in the non touristic neighborhood!…read more On my last day during a 3 week vacation to Spain, found this splendid restaurant near my hotel. After a day trip to Toledo, I was super tired and decided to have my dinner nearby. Turn out everything I experienced that night surprised me, from the atmosphere, service to their food. Their croquettes are so delicately made, even the amuse bouche (invitacion aperitivo) are excellent. I told the waitress who speaks English that I was super tired , could not drink and would like to try more dishes. She suggested their Cana but on the lighter side. She also recommended cutting my portion into 1/4 or half size so that I could try more dishes. Her attentive service merited 10 stars. In addition to the chorizo croquettes, my other dishes were cuttlefish risotto and callos, both turned out to be exceeding my expectation! And the 1/2 portion were actually quite huge!!! It was my last night in Spain, and Canadio did offered me an unforgettable dinning experience. Planning to come back in the Fall, and will absolutely visit them again!
