Surprisingly, everything went so smoothly and I couldn't ask for two better ladies to have shared this journey with. Enisa the Patient Coordinator is very understanding, professional, welcoming and knowledgeable. I value her great communication and efficiency with appointments and EEG scheduling. It was always a pleasure to see her infectious smile everyday I entered the office. Smailee the MERT Tech is extremely knowledgeable, easy to talk to and she has the patience of a saint. Even when my son wasn't on his best behavior she was able to complete the sessions. I loved how she provided toys and entertainment for his comfort and she calmly worked at his pace. She arrived to work jolly, on time and she was unbothered by the mess of popcorn and snacks he threw on the floor. When he cried she was so tender and provided much consolation and it meant so much. My son has made great progress since getting MERT therapy. He's much more present and affectionate. His temper, eye contact and sleep has improved tremendously. I recommend this place to anyone because they're great and the girls here will definitely make you feel at home.

She had me describe what had happened prior to the pains and asked very specific questions on certain details, and was able to figure out what was wrong. I really liked her! Apparently they have an office policy that they implemented last January that says no patient can change doctors because it's seen as doctors stealing patients from other doctors in the practice. They even spoke with the doctor I said I didn't feel comfortable seeing again and the other female doctor about my situation and they decided that I had to keep the same doctor. I understand each office can have their own policies but this one seems a little extreme. Just a warning: Westcare Medical Primary Care places doctors ego's over patient's comfort.

However, since they have been managed by Mount Sinai about a year ago, it has been awful. You can not speak with a receptionist in the office. All calls are directed to an answering service and they do not call back. If you have a billing issue, you can not get in touch with anyone. I had to dial the emergency prompt in order to get someone to call me back. Even at that, they don't call back. I went in for testing and they did not call me back for over two weeks with the results. The office is completely disorganized and I don't even trust them with my records so I'm leaving. It is really frustrating.

Ok, so it might be considered a tad strange to review your OBGYN. Talking about your doctor,…read moreespecially your Gynecologist, is considered private subject matter for some women. It's like the Seinfeld episode when Jerry asks a few women who their personal doctor is and gets slapped in the face. That's kinda how I feel about writing this in public domain but then again, a quality doctor is so hard to find. How else will you know if they're good unless the patient reviews?? I discovered Dr. Gershowitz by way of my Uncle. I know strange but my Uncle worked for Montefiore Medical Center for almost 25 years so when it came to doctors he always had the best resources. I've been going to Dr. Gershowitz for a few years now and after some pretty crappy OBGYN experiences, she is the best. Nice bedside manner and gets down to business. Prepares and explains everything she is going to do. Is thorough in her questioning and seems genuinely concerned about her patients well being. She will always give her honest opinion as a doctor, not as someone promoting a medication. Things to know: -The office line is usually busy. Keep trying. - Expect for it to be hard to get an appointment. When you call be prepared that your appointment may be scheduled weeks or even months in advance. -They don't take debit or credit card payments under $20 so if your co-pay is less, bring cash. -Dr. Gershowitz is perpetually late and sometimes disappears after your appointment even if she wants to talk to you. Be patient, schedule at least 60-90 minutes in your own calendar for your visit. Another secret tip, Dr. Gershowitz is quite liberal with BC samples. A nice plus.

And Dr. Gershowitz used to be very warm and seemed to care about your problems, but I went in a few months ago concerned about a potential STD and she brushed off my concerns saying my symptoms were "most likely" a result of my birth control. I insisted on being tested anyway, and luckily although they did come back negative for STDs, I did have a bacterial infection that would have gotten worse if I didn't treat it. It just frustrates me that my doctor, who has supposedly been in this field for a long time, would downplay legitimate concerns and symptoms. I felt like she was in such a rush to see other patients that my concerns were being treated like I just wanted attention. Then when I called for a follow-up appointment, I was told the next available was over 2 months away. Maybe this is just a NYC thing, but it's totally ridiculous to me that someone should have to wait TWO MONTHS to take care of their health. It's great she's so popular, but maybe she should limit taking new patients so she can actually take care of the ones she already has. I'm finding another gyno that actually has time for me.
