Dr. Lyon has been my GP for over a decade. She is highly skilled and experienced, with a wonderful nyc referral network. But most important to me is she's a great communicator. She gives context to questions you have from her wisdom, and in this day of "too much data" she puts things in perspective. She is unbelievably caring, she went out of her way to reassure me on a certain issue recently. She's one of the world's best doctors, we are lucky to have her here in nyc. She's simply the best. Ive never had such a horrible and rude experience with a doctor like I did with Dr. Lyon. I'm honestly shocked that this woman has clients. The moment I opened the door I had a gut feeling something wasn't right. When I walked back to the room I was immediately instructed by the physician assistant to get undressed and put on a gown which was very odd to me. Usually when it's your first appointment establishing primary care you aren't asked to get undressed so I was a bit caught off guard and decided to wait to undressed until after talking with the doctor and going over what we would be doing at todays appointment that required me to get undressed. When Dr. Lyon came in (before introducing herself) she asked me in the rudest voice "why aren't you undressed?" And I said "I had a few questions before getting undressed" and she said "you could have still gotten undressed!" - I was so taken back as to why it was such an issue that I didn't get undressed immediately. She proceeded to ask me questions then abruptly interrupted me and said "you're not wearing a mask, let me get you one", she returned with a mask and I told her I didn't want to wear it (mind you the assistants in the office weren't wearing one, just her) and she told me "I had to wear it" I then responded with telling her I haven't had to wear a mask at a drs office in over a year, she proceeded to tell me to put it on. Given this woman's attitude I knew I couldn't trust her, so I told her we could end the appointment and I will go elsewhere. She immediately followed up with "okay! But you still owe me $50 for the appointment." When I was checking out I overheard the physician assistant say to the doctor "Dr. Lyon you were supposed to be better this year." So clearly this isn't the first time someone has left their appointments 10 minutes in. I'm honestly shocked by the amount of good reviews I see on Google. Her Yelp reviews are far more accurate, in which I'll note another girl had the same horrible experience with Dr. Lyon getting mad at her for not undressing right away. Called for an appointment as a new patient. I was told the next available appointment was in 3+ months (yikes). Immediately after confirming an appointment, I was just bombarded with multiple emails about how "Lyon Primary Care is not responsible for blah blah blah" and "it's not our fault if you get charged for blah blah blah." The entire email was just a long disclaimer statement. "Joanna Domingues" was the receptionist who was sending me all these emails and whenever I asked a question she would respond with a rude attitude. Every time I emailed her a question it was like pulling teeth. She demonstrated a clear unwillingness to answer my questions and concerns. read more

Horrible staff. Rude, they don't say hello when you arrive. Never able to book appointment to see doctor for a sick visit. When I am sick, they would not try to help and accommodate me in dictor's schedule, they just send me to urgent care. To make an appointment, you need to book 3 months in advance. And I was billed for a blood test I did not get last time I saw the doctor. I saw her for two minutes for a conversation that was rushed. And I was billed price of a visit. Afterwards they tried to bill my card without my consent for the blood work that did not happen and when I called to complain receptionist hanged up on me. I miss doctor Martin who was my doctor and her colleague but who left for Florida. We are now left with Doctor Lyon. read more

I had an awful experience here. It felt rushed, impersonal, unprofessional, and violating. Upon arrival, I was shuffled into an exam room right away. They told me I could fill out paperwork after. Dr. Lyon came in to the exam room without introducing herself and told me to take off everything and change into my medical gown in front of her. I had never met her before. As someone that has a history of SA, I told her no. She had the audacity to ask why as if no wasn't an answer. I told her I didn't feel comfortable and she responded that we were tight on time. I responded that I'd be happy to reschedule. She huffed, slammed her laptop closed, and left the room. I was appalled and knew at that point that I had no interest in making her my new PCP. She asked me many questions in our exam. I have a family history of breast cancer and had a scare last year. I scheduled this exam because my breast has been bothering me again. When I told her my history and asked about services and a referral, she dismissed what I am experiencing as common cysts and told me she'd need a reason to give a referral so she'd need to look over my breast imaging results from the previous year. My last PCP took my concerns (breast swelling, pain, and discharge) seriously. Hence, I had many services (an ultrasound, MRI, and cat scan) done. Her response was, "wow, I need to see this" and that she needed "good reason" to make a referral for further breast cancer services as if my symptoms, family history, and past history wasn't a good reason enough. I have no desire, as a 28 year old woman, to be medically gaslit and have my concerns and symptoms dismissed. After our exam, my blood was taken by someone that was being trained by another phlebotomist and I was poked twice because she didn't hit a vain the first time. I wasn't asked if this was ok. And as other reviewers have mentioned, the area to leave urine is not only unsanitary, but a HIPAA violation as information and urine samples are exposed on a paper towel in the bathroom. Overall, I would not return here. I plan to take my concerns elsewhere and get the referral that I need. The experience that I had, from start to finish, at this office was awful. I started a membership with Forward after this. I am tired of offices and doctors that overbook and don't care to know their patients, discuss their patient's health extensively, or take medical concerns seriously. read more

I've been seeing dr. Lyon for maybe 10+ years now and have a uniformly great experience. I want a doctor who is smart, knowledgeable, on top of things and straightforward, and she fits the bill perfectly! If you want someone who will make sure you get high quality medical care, she is perfect. I'm guessing some of the negative reviews here come from people who are looking for someone to assuage their psychological quirks or hoping for a doctor who will act against medically recommended standards--I.e., folks that are mad that she requires a COVID vax. Dude, if you find a doctor who's ok with you not having recommended vaccines, then prob you didn't find a very good doc! read more

Very difficult to get an appointment with the doctor even after 2 years of being a patient at Lyon Primary Care. Had to go to CityMD twice because the doctor was unavailable. But most disappointing of all, this morning I had a staff member tell me I should look for a different primary care physician because Dr. Lyon is too busy to see me. read more

Extremely unprofessional and disappointing. I made an appointment 1,5 months ago and sent my vaccination card over the email per their request. When I arrived to the office, I was told that they cannot take me because I do not have a COVID booster shot. Dr. Lyon is the best doctor I've ever had in NYC. Thorough, friendly, and thoughtful. Took the time to refer me to a number of her favorite specialists. Her nurses are equally thorough, friendly, and thoughtful. Outstanding wellness professionals. I'd recommend to anyone. Be aware that Dr. Lyon is booked very far out. You can call her LOVELY receptionists every day and check for cancellations--it's how I always sneak in sooner. read more

Isn't that just "caring" of them to do. Everyone has a right to be seen and have access to preventive care and medicine! I've been coming to Dr. Lyon for a few years now, and I assure you, she is fantastic. I have been to many doctors in my life in five different cities and she is my favorite by far. She was referred to me by a co-worker and a few people in our office see her. At first, I went to her for OBGYN, but now she is my primary care physician as well! She is smart, knowledgeable about the most recent medical advances, and when I message her through the patient portal, she always responds same day. She is also very straightforward and funny, which I love! I used to work in Midtown, but I now work in the Financial District, and I will continue to come and see her, because it is worth it. I've always been a bit wary of doctors as I haven't always had the best experiences, but Dr. Lyon was recommended to me by my dermatologist. Overall, I think she is fantastic. She has a direct manner, listens to everything that you say, spends a lot of time with you during your exam, and gives great advice on things that are bothering you - that is all that you could ask for in a great doctor! I've heard of so many instances where people only see their doctor for a few minutes, and spend the rest of their appointment with their nurses. Please ignore the other complaints listed here - most of them seem to be from people that are having a bad New York day, and they are taking it out on the wrong person - especially the front desk staff. Just remember, by the time you arrive, they've likely already dealt with dozens of difficult patients. In the end, I don't believe that a doctor's office needs to feel like a spa appointment, but if thats is how you feel, then perhaps a different practice would be better for you. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Lyon for 9 years. She is always caring, thoughtful, and informative. She has also helped me diagnose some bigger medical issues for which she has referred me to specialists. Recently I was experiencing some nagging flu/respiratory systems and after going to urgent care twice with what felt like very little attention paid to me, I made an appointment with their PA Lina Sivio-Lieberman. I wasn't sure what to expect but I was blown away. She spent time listening to all my symptoms and did the thorough examination that all the other doctors skipped. She also did a respiratory panel that revealed a completely surprise diagnosis that required a different course of treatment. I am so grateful to both Lina and Dr Lyon and would recommend them highly to those seeking excellent medical care. read more

Couldn't believe this was the same practice. I saw Dr.Lyon 5 years ago. Caring. I got out insurance that would allow me to still come to her when I moved out of state. What a mistake! I never saw her. Only a physician's assistant IN TRAINING who told me it was "standard procedure" for the doctor to only be called in in severe cases.I would have to make a special request I recommended her to a friend based on my past experience and she had the same treatment. I have been going here for about a year now, and today was my last time I will ever step foot in that place. I waited for an hour, and I even had to pay for parking. I had to leave, and I wasted a ton of my time waiting. Plus I had to pay 30 dollars for parking. I spoke to dr Val & she was rude!!! She didn't even care, she made it seem totally normal how late she was. There wasn't even any patients waiting to be seen except for me. I called her to see if she would refund me my $30 for having to park in the parking garage, but she said no. I promise she is not the doctor that you want to be seeing. Good luck.. read more

Dr Lyon does not have a good bedside manner, I came in for a prescription that I've been getting for over a year from her practice and she began our appointment by immediately treating me as if I was taking the medication irresponsibly, which I am not. I felt her tone was accusatory and rude. I am a responsible adult and I deserve to be treated that way by a doctor. No one should feel belittled by someone who is supposed to be a care taker. I will never make an appointment with her again, I was very disappointed with the way she handled the situation and hope that no else has to be treated that way. read more

I've been seeing Dr Lyon for a couple of years and I do enjoy her as a medical professional - direct, to the point, not overly warm but also not dismissive. The stars i awarded are specifically for her. Her office on the other hand is a disaster - the receptionists are consistently rude (no greeting upon entry, bare minimum of engagement, not helpful) and I've had PAs/nurses fail to draw blood after upwards of five attempts (I've never had anyone struggle to draw blood from my arms). And with all of this, Dr Lyon remains impossible to see - she's frequently booked out for months at a time. Today was the kicker though - called to schedule my annual gyno exam, was given Dr Martin (a very pleasant guy, but leaving the practice march 1) because Dr Martin was booked up. I expressed concern as I'd never seen a man before for this etc the receptionist was like well you can always cancel (clearly, I was understanding this to be a gyno exam). What I didn't know was that Dr Martin is NOT an obgyn, and they'd booked me just for a physical. So here I am going through a physical when I'd made an appt for my gyno exam. I guess this will be my last visit because despite Dr Lyon being great it's really not worth the trouble. Update: dropped to one star: there was ANOTHER urine sample in the bathroom where I was directed to do mine. When I expressed concern over this, Dr Martin responded "they're labeled, it's fine." I was like "no, I'd at least like the illusion of there being something sanitary here." read more

I have been seeing Dr. Lyon for four years and will continue to use her practice. She's a pragmatic, knowledgeable doctor who offers very straight advice and competent care. I feel comfortable going to her with any concerns, and have been pleased with her referrals for other doctors. There are always new assistants in the office, but most of them are fine and good at drawing blood/other tests. Wait time is typically lower than average, especially if you go in the mornings or early afternoons. I never wait longer than 15 minutes. She is usually quick to respond to phone messages, as well. read more

Before going to Dr. Lyon, I was seeing a doctor who developed dementia. After seeing Dr. Lyon, I'll be going BACK to my elderly doctor with memory problems, because I expect to get BETTER CARE. Lyon has the worst managed physician's office I've ever experienced. None of the assistants knew what they were doing. Despite the fact that I made an appointment to see Dr. Lyon, the staff acted like they were doing me a FAVOR by grabbing the doctor from another room to see me -- and when she did see me, it was for under sixty seconds. I had to get dressed and undressed 3 times during the course of my visit because the assistants were so disorganized. When I first entered the office, there was a blood-filled rubber tube with a needle attached sitting on top of a bio-hazard box. Later, the physician's assistant spied it and threw it away properly. The blood pressure cuff was defective. Clumsiest blood draw in history - girl never got any blood from either arm. I walked out crying. AWFUL. read more
