Me staying w/him as my doc for 10 years speaks volumes. Dr. Goodman is a kind, calm and very professional physician w/excellent bedside manner & great knowledge. When I didn't have insurance, he was VERY accommodating with his cash fees. Yes the wait is usually long (about 1 hour), but Dr. Goodman is SO WORTH IT. I can't recommend him enough. : )

I have been under his care for over two years now, since I was referred to him by Columbia University's medical center. Dr Miller is attentive and thorough. He ensured that I was properly diagnosed and that I followed through on my drug regimen to ensure minimal side effects. He came to see me everyday when I was in a hospital and followed up regulary after I was discharged to see to it that I was recovering. In fact, once I forgot to carry my medication on a trip, and he called in an emergency prescription at a pharmacy near me on a SUNDAY! A SUNDAY! His network is great too. He referred to a surgeon who was phenomenal in helping me with another issue. The only qualm I have is with some of the office staff. It can sometimes be challenging to get them to get a prescription to the right pharmacy when you need it most. I am fortunate to be on his service and I would not hesitate for a second to recommend him

Dr. Abroon has all the qualities that are important to me in building a healthy doctor/patient relationship! At the top of my list is that Dr. Abroon is a good listener. He never rushes my appointment and always addresses my concerns, thoughts, opinions and viewpoint. For example, Dr. Abroon will take the time to read an article I clipped from a health newsletter on a subject I felt was pertinent to my care. Dr. Abroon is very knowledgeable, concerned for my well-being, will make referrals when necessary and follow up on my reports. Dr. Abroon is empathetic, compassionate and caring. The staff is always cheerful, efficient and polite. There are times I forget to mention something at my appointment and get upset with myself. But, I feel comfortable calling the office when I get home. I know that Dr. Abroon will return my call and with his calming voice say, "Alice, how are you? How can I help you?" These are the qualities that are important to me!

Echoing the sentiments of some others, as someone who has intimate knowledge of medical billing…read morepractices, Dr. Abroon is unethical in this regard. Here is my experience: I'll start by saying that the staff were friendly and professional, but that is the extent of the positivity here. I have in-network insurance, early 30's, low risk for heart issues and, by choice, just underwent a full ECG and heart stress test with a licensed cardiologist/heart doctor specialist about 6 months ago. 40+ minute wait. Dr. Abroon is NOT a cardiologist. He is a PCP. Yet he insisted, even after I told him and his staff that I just did a fulsome heart exam with a cardiologist, that (1) I pay $250 out of pocket UNLESS (2) they administer an EKG at the start of the visit without having assessed symptoms or risks or heart issues. His staff conveyed that he does an EKG on all his patients, which is medically unnecessary according to a number of medical authorities (see, for example, https://www.aafp.org/family-physician/patient-care/clinical-recommendations/all-clinical-recommendations/cw-ekg.html). Could I have opted to pay $47 to move forward with his EKG? Sure. But on principle this is very clearly a very wrong thing to do. It is not ethical to push an unnecessary medical exam that is costly for an insurance company so he can receive pure financial gain, and again, what's worse is that when I declined the EKG, he gave me the ultimatum that he would otherwise charge me a whopping $250 out of pocket. After I raised all these issues with Dr Abroon, he declined to proceed with our visit. Dr. Abroon's practice is patently unethical, and calls to question whether he has tendencies to conduct his practice this way more broadly. I encourage you to avoid this place. There are plenty of providers in the city that are upstanding.

Avoid at all cost!!!…read more If you want to be treated less than a human and like they are doing you a favor for coming to be seen this is the place to be! My experience with Dr. Distler at Westside GI was horrific and traumatic and deeply disappointing. I went in for an endoscopy with hopes of addressing new symptoms and concerns, but the entire process left me feeling neglected, ignored, and uncared for. Before the procedure, I attempted to communicate my symptoms and concerns to Dr. Distler, but unfortunately, I didn't have the opportunity to speak with him directly. Despite leaving a message with the receptionist requesting a call from the doctor, I never received one. This lack of communication set a concerning tone for the entire experience. My scheduled appointment for 10 am turned into a lengthy wait, with me not being seen until about 12:15 pm. This significant delay only added to my anxiety and frustration, especially considering my desire to communicate with the doctor beforehand. Throughout the entire process, I repeatedly requested to speak with Dr. Distler about my symptoms and concerns. However, my requests were ignored, and I was abruptly introduced to the anesthesiologist, Dr. Francisco Narvaez, without any prior introduction. Dr. Narvaez proceeded to administer anesthesia without addressing my concerns or providing any reassurance, resulting in a painful and distressing experience. As I was laying down requesting to speak with Dr. Distler, Dr. Narvaez shoved something around my mouth and the anesthesia in my arm while I'm asking him to stop while Dr. Distler was right there. The lack of empathy and communication from both Dr. Distler and Dr. Narvaez made me feel like nothing more than a paycheck, rather than a human being seeking medical care. Even after the procedure, during my recovery, Dr. Distler failed to check in on me or provide any post-operative care. The lack of follow-up and concern for my well-being further reinforced my belief that Dr. Distler prioritizes financial gain over patient care. Four days post-procedure, I still hadn't received any communication about my results. When I reached out, I was informed that I needed to call and make an appointment to receive them. This lack of proactive communication and the requirement to make an appointment solely for results delivery felt like another instance of prioritizing financial gain over patient care. I called multiple times leaving messages for him to call me back for the past two years and he still can't give me a call. In conclusion, my experience with Dr. Distler at Westside GI was deeply disappointing and traumatic. The lack of communication, empathy, and follow-up care demonstrated by Dr. Distler and his team left me feeling neglected and uncared for. As a result of this experience, I have lost trust in Dr. Distler and will not be returning to his practice. This traumatic experience has also left me hesitant to seek medical care in the future, as I no longer feel comfortable entrusting my health to healthcare professionals who prioritize profit over patient well-being. Also he has this one particular receptionist who answers the phone, she comes across as rude, unprofessional, unhelpful and lacking great customer service skills.
