PLEASE READ I have…read morebeen a patient of Doctor Fagelmans for over 5 years. Last year due to switching a family group insurance plan I had to switch doctors, which was upsetting. I spent over a year trying to find another primary care doctor, however I was unable to find anyone that was even close to good as Fagelman is. I now have switched insurance providers JUST to have Dr. Fagelman as my primary care physician. His staff is unbelievably helpful and friendly. Every time I come into the office I am greeted with a big hello and smile. Furthermore, they always remember my name! Delita and the receptionists are caring, sweet, and very kind people. They go the extra step to create a relaxing environment where people feel welcomed. The reason why I am writing this is because Fagelman has always taken and extra step while caring for me and my many (thankful) friends I have referred to him. I once showed up unannounced with no appointment and somehow he managed to fit me in. I could tell he was busy in and out of appointments but somehow made time for me. His bedside manors are incredible-I feel very comfortable to talk to him about any issue or concern I may have. Fagelman approaches healthcare in a very cautious and proactive way. When he is treating me or diagnosing me he considers all aspects of my life, previous health issues, and overall wellness into consideration. He sees the larger picture as well as the smaller one! Overall Fagelman is a fantastic doctor. I highly recommend. Thank you for reading.

I actually had this written in my notes for a while and decided not to post it because I wanted to…read moremove on. But after what happened most recently, I feel like I should share my experience. I mentioned during my appointment that going to the doctor gives me anxiety and that I would really appreciate someone taking the time to review my lab results with me after my physical. After my bloodwork and routine physical, instead of receiving a call to discuss my results, I got a phone call from the front desk telling me I owed $375. My immediate reaction was confusion because my annual physical is fully covered by my insurance. Being unexpectedly told I owed hundreds of dollars after what I believed was a covered preventive visit was incredibly stressful. What made the situation worse was the interaction with the front desk. When I expressed my surprise and frustration, the staff member laughed and said something along the lines of, "Sorry, your picture looked so innocent and now you're pissed." That felt completely unprofessional and dismissive, especially given how anxious I already was. They then offered to "discount" the charge to somewhere in the $200 range. After I questioned the bill and went back and forth with them, they ultimately removed the charge entirely. If the fee could simply be waived after I pushed back, it made the whole situation feel arbitrary and left me wondering whether patients who don't question these bills just end up paying them. It honestly felt like a money grab rather than a transparent billing process. What finally pushed me to write this review is that I still had never received a call to go over my lab work or test results, despite specifically asking for one during my appointment. When I called the office myself, I was simply told they would send me a link to access my results online. Then they added that if I wanted someone to actually explain my results in more depth, I would need to schedule *and pay for* another appointment. That was honestly the most disappointing part of the entire experience. I wasn't asking for anything unreasonable. I wanted a physician to spend a few minutes reviewing the bloodwork from my annual physical, especially after I had shared that medical appointments make me anxious. Instead, I was treated like discussing my own health was an additional service that required another visit. Overall, I left feeling dismissed, frustrated, and genuinely hurt. The only proactive phone call I received from this office was about collecting money--not about my health or my results. Between the confusing billing, the unprofessional interaction with the front desk, and the complete lack of follow-up regarding my care, I cannot recommend this practice.

And if you look at him long enough you might mistake him for Justin Timberlake (He's been told this btw). He is so friendly and he's pretty good at remembering who you are so you don't feel like you're going to become just another patient in the crowd. His office is located a block away from Grand Central Station so it's pretty easy to get to him. The check in process was a bit confusing to me. I entered one office to check in and the was told to go to another office where I was being expected. When I walked into that office, they had no idea who I was and I had to repeat the process of answering check in question all over again. If Dr. Wolff schedules you for a procedure, it will likely be downtown at Liberty Endoscopy. His staff there is very efficient and on the ball with time management. After prep, Dr. Wolff comes in for a short but sincere chat on what will be happening, how you're feeling, and time to give answers to any questions you might have. He or his anesthesiologist will guide you into lullaby land as you drift off to oblivion. And then you wake up to find that everything is done. Wow! Just, wow!…read more Maybe over my lifetime I've just had bad luck with doctors, but Dr Berk shines above the rest. Firstly, I went in and was actually listened to rather than having the Dr wait for me to stop talking. He never interrupted me and let me interrupt him, when I did so accidentally. I regularly feel Dr's don't listen to me. Sure, their training is in medicine and they are the experts, but I am certainly the expert at what I am experiencing. If I feel regularly shut down as a man, I can only imagine how women are made to feel with most doctors. So this first off was an excellent sign. Secondly, he was friendly, upbeat and polite. That's not necessary but a nice touch. On to the checkup. He was methodical. He told me exactly what he was doing. When I told him I thought my BP was a little high on his machine, rather than ignoring me he did a second check to ensure it was correct. He was knowledgeable about my ailments, my medications and I didn't get the feeling he was just trying to rush me out the door to increase his turnover cash. This guy is aces in my books and I changed my primary care physician to him today. I'm angry I didn't find a doctor like him sooner. I've only seen him once and his businessman paraphernalia is a little disconcerting. I like money too but it makes me uneasy. I had to sign a form saying I am responsible for the full final cost. Most doctors I've seen will charge a high amount for the insurance and "forgive" the rest. Gotta say that makes me uneasy as well. We'll see how it goes going forward in terms of how badly it hits my wallet and I will update.

I can't believe I found a doctor as great as Dr. Berk so easily. I made my decision based on Yelp…read morereviews after ZocDocs reviews lead me astray on my last doctor's visit. Yelpers are the best! Dr. Berk's staff was super helpful and even chipper, but not annoyingly so. The new patient forms weren't unduly long and didn't require me to sign over my first born child. There are computers set up in the spacious lobby where you enter your symptoms, which is nice because it gets rid of the prelude conversations that you normally repeat to 2 nurses, a physician's assistant, and the doctor. I didn't mind the computer system at all. The waiting area, as I said, was spacious. The light was nice, and there was a glug-glug with really cold water, which made this sickly gal quite happy. There was one girl waiting and one couple who came in after me who were seen before I was, and they seemed to go in and out quickly. I was called back (after paying my co-pay), and I talked to Mary, a sweet doctor's assistant who I thought was very good. She did all of the temp taking, etc.... Within 5 pages of my book of her leaving, Dr. Berk appeared. Dr. Berk is the kind of doctor you imagine when you are little. The kind of doctor you envision you will have after the mean pediatrician who gives you shots flees the scene. He is kind, inquisitive, is aware you are sick and don't want to talk a bunch, and had great information about why I was sick, the neighborhood, and how I was going to get well. He did not rush me, and I felt like I could ask as many questions as needed. He rides his bike to work. Need I say more?! He's like Mr. Rogers but not creepy. With the paperwork, the computer quiz about my illness, a little bit of waiting, and my actual visit, it took 45 minutes, which I think is fantastic. The office is conveniently located to just about any subway line you could want, so I suggest you hustle over and see Dr. Charles Berk if you're feeling under the weather.

I was coming fresh from the hospital and still in pain so I needed a 2nd opinion. I searched…read moreextensively online and found a colleague of "Dr." -- I use the phrase doctor lightly in light of what occurred -- Ugonna Iroku. The doctor I wanted to see was not available for 2 and a 1/2 wks so they talked me into booking him. I called to say I would be 5 mins late and was right down the street and they said fine they had a 15 min grace period. When I arrived on 5th Avenue, it was 3:05pm. But they give you the wrong address claiming the office is at 535 5th Avenue when it is actually on 44th street. To make matters much worse, the operator on the phone claimed she didn't know where it was because they use call centers instead of on-site receptionists! So I spent an extra 12 mins walking up 5th Avenue trying to find the office! When I finally arrived at 3:17pm, they claimed I would have to rebook because it was already past the 15 min grace time even though this was their fault. I had passed right by the building at 3:04pm. So I would've been on time had THEY given me the proper entrance information. I ended up sobbing hysterically in the reception area because it was late on a Friday & I did not want to risk being in pain all weekend. No one cared and they did nothing to rectify the situation. When I asked if Iroku could see me for the last 10 mins before his next appointment they claimed he was already with another patient, which made no sense! How could that be if there is a 15-minute grace period? And no one walked in while I was waiting, except his 3:30pm patient, who would've been AFTER me. And what kind of doctor would leave a patient in pain & tears? What kind of good HUMAN BEING would do so? This was a truly awful experience and it is clear to me that these doctors are not spending enough time with their patients. 15 minutes is not enough time to thoroughly vet what is going on with patients, especially not new ones. I wish I had gone with my initial gut and kept researching other doctors instead of letting myself be talked into booking an appointment with this awful man. The only good thing is the cruelty shown to me by this awful place and this doctor means I likely dodged a bullet. Avoid the 535 5th Ave office which is actually on 44th St between Madison and 5th at all costs. Hopefully, the William St office is not as badly run.
