My positive experience started with my initial contact with Miss Angie. She let me know that they are a family owned business that takes pride in taking care of their customers. I have moved several times, but never out of state. Also, I was moving while Covid was still rampant. I had no idea what to expect, so I had so many questions. Miss Angie set up a video call so I could "walk her through my home." A couple of days later she gave me an estimate and didn't seem bothered by answering my countless questions. I appreciate it that they had several options, depending on how much help I needed for the move. On the day of the move, I met Alex, who assured me this would be a seamless process and he would personally make sure all of my belongings made it to my new home in TX. Sure enough, a few days later, Alex was the one pulling the semi truck up to my new home and organizing the activities of the move-in crew. He even gave some suggestions on where furniture should go. From beginning to end, the customer service was top-notch and I definitely feel like the money was well worth it. And when I tried to call the Chicago number, I was on a perpetual hold and never spoke to an actual person. The only way I was able to get ahold of anyone was to submit a request for another quote on their website. I then received a call within seconds. Even then, it was a general office and they couldn't process the cancellation or get ahold of someone from the Chicago branch. It took 3 more phone calls before I could finally get on the phone with someone who could process my request because someone was kind enough to give me the national office number and within 5 minutes, I was able to cancel my move. (Shoutout to Chris and the number for the national office is 469-461-5000) I can't imagine what it would have been like if I actually needed to go through the steps of moving when their customer service was this bad and they are so hard to reach. You are better off going with someone else.

BAIT & SWITCH. "Megan" texts you a referral link to pass along. I told her, via text, I didn't know…read moreanyone who was moving, but I was. Megan replied that repeat customers get a $100 discount. When I arranged my move, I told them about the discount. They asked me to copy and paste those texts into a text and send it to them and to email screenshots to ncmteam@newcitymoving.com. I did both. They sent me a final bill of lading. Upon reviewing it, I didn't see the $100 discount. I also didn't see my $100 deposit applied to the total. I was told that there's a minimum one hour drive time at $150 per hour, a minimum two man crew at $150 per hour with a two hour minimum. My calculator says that's $450 total. Less my $100 deposit equals $350. Less my $100 discount is a total of $250. Keep in mind that I retain every text, email, and phone call summary. Today, I called to ask why my total was $450, not $250. The man who answered the phone said he needed to transfer me to "operations." A female answered. She claimed no Megan worked there. I told her that a couple of days ago I was told there IS a Megan there. "We don't give discounts. We're regulated. We don't have a Megan." I asked to speak with a supervisor. She said she'd transfer me. I waited on hold to be transferred. Ten seconds later, she hung up on me. This is a classic bait and switch scam. They promise a discount. They promise your deposit will be applied to your total. Then they charge you almost double what they should. If you're foolish enough to use this company, "New City Moving" AKA "All My Sons Moving & Storage," be sure to budget TWICE what they quote. Save all correspondence. At the bottom of the bill of lading is "Call the ILCC-Public Staff's Transportation Division at ". Leaving off the number won't stop me from reporting them to the Illinois Commerce Commission, FTC, and Illinois State Attorney General's office. BAIT & SWITCH!

Just had new movers move stuff out of unit into the house, and they as well were appalled at how it was packed. Numerous boxes crushed, 2 shelving units destroyed, and my treadmill stored on its side which cracked the side guard. VERY overpriced. Would not recommend at all!

At 130 I called back to see if they were still coming. Then I was told that the drivers were actually in a car accident and one hurt himself pretty bad. They asked if they could reschedule for the next morning. I was very understanding and said no problem. He said he would call me first thing. At 11 am the next day I tried texting and calling and no answer. They completely left me hanging. Horrible way to do business. Be honest and just say you can't make it.
