After a night of shenanigans, Pooh and I were actually heading to another breakfast place when we…read morepassed Patachou and saw it serves breakfast too, Both of us ordered the Eggs Benedict with ham and Swiss cheese. Excellent Benedict. The eggs were runny without being jiggly. I hate jiggly eggs!!!

Every July we come to Montreal to visit my wife's relatives, and take an excursion to Quebec City. Last year we stopped at Trois-Rivières for the tour of churches including the full Ursulines convent tour and loved it so we are repeating a stop at this midpoint city between MTL and QC. The drive takes about 2.5 hours so a stop is good. Last year this restaurant was closed on the day we traveled but this year they were open. My son (10), stepson (23), wife and I had an excellent breakfast. The food is delicious, it tastes like they clean the grill regularly and don't use too much grease, and the portions are large. The short answer here is that you must come to this fun, comic book-themed diner, particularly with family. My wife and I think it's perfect and the children are so happy. A quick roundup of what we had is in my photos -- thanks.

Pooh, Marie (Pooh's sister), Pooh's father and I came here for supper, last night…read more The ambiance was busy and noisy. Maybe it was just that night but I wouldn't go back for a romantic dinner. We started with drinks. Pooh's dad (Andre) and I had Bloody Caesars, Pooh had a beer and Marie a house cocktail. The cocktail was too floral. Our Caesars were great. For appetizers Marie and Pooh had mussels, Andre, a Caesar salad and I had the French Onion soup. Andre's salad was a good size; Pooh and Marie enjoyed their mussels and my soup was very tasty Before the appetizers arrived a panier of warm bread and buns with a delicious olive oil and parmesan cheese sauce was brought to the table We ordered the Table D'hôte. Marie, Pooh and Andre had the fillet mignon and I had the bavette (flank steak). The cook on the steaks varied. Pooh and I ordered medium-rare; Marie ordered medium and Andre ordered medium-well. Pooh's steak was medium and my steak was medium-rare at the thinner end and very rare (almost blue) at the thicker end. Pooh, Marie and Andre had a baked potato without any butter and I had french fries. We shared two bottles of Italian red wine which was an excellent choice for the steaks. For dessert we had the brownie with ice cream. The brownie was dry - we needed the ice cream to help get it down. Pooh, Andre and I had a Brazilian coffee to wash everything down. Marie was driving. The service was excellent. Our server Édouard was very attentive; always checking on us. He was pleasant and had a friendly smile. Our glasses of water were always filled without us asking. The bathroom was unisex.

The Microbrew culture in Sherbrooke is going strong and Siboire is one of the best! I had been…read morethere before for beer but last night was the first time I went there for food. It's located in the old Canadian National Railway station that still partially serves as the Intercity Bus station. Parking is no problem, there is free parking for Siboire customers between 4 PM and 4 AM while the parking garage next door is avaiable during the day. First, the most important, is the Beer. I had 3 pints, one of their Oatmeal Stout, which was excellent, nice and rich but not too heavy and flavourful. Not quite as good as St. Ambroise's Oatmeal Stout because it is a bit too watery, but still great. Then I had a pint of Calvaire, which is their signature Pale Ale. It is a great pale ale that has a good hoppy bite. Finally I had the Ingenieuse, which is an Irish Red ale that is fairly sweet for a Red but still very tasty. The Food was very good, I had fish and chips that was very good. You get to choose the kind of fish you want and get 3 pieces plus fries and coleslaw for $15.00. The fissh was nice and moist and the batter good, blus the fries and coleslaw were excellent (some of the best slaw I have had). Definitely worth the money. The Service was also excellent, the waitress was attentive and very friendly. This is one of my favourite places in Sherbrooke and I hate saying this but it is actually a better pub with better beer than my beloved Golden Lion in Lennoxville. I apologize to all my fellow Bishop's Grads for saying that but it is true.
