I've been here several times now with my family while I'm in town. The back patio has come such a long way and is amazing right now with the winter weather near the bonfire of course. They have a great selection of beers on tap that I rarely waver to choose wine instead. We've been a couple times now on I believe Tuesdays? for trivia while we enjoy a pitcher and beer special. Their pizzas are GOOD! More artisan style and sometimes I have to make modifications to their topping choices, but overall yummy - their buffalo is my personal go to. read more

This place opened about a week ago and it's packed on a Sat night. Not only do they offer beer selections, they also served handmade pizza and hot-dogs. I placed an order for a lot of pizza and the kid who took my order gave me his attitude because I was ordering a lot of pizza at once. It took them over 2 hours to called my name. The speaker they used to announced when your pizza is ready just sounded horrible. You can't hear what they say. I kept going back to the counter and have to asked for the status. Each time I've gone back, the chefs are just yelling at each other complaining it's taking the pizza too long to prep. They simply don't have their staffs together nor they have underestimated one oven just not good enough. The pizza turned out to be pretty decent. But no matter how great it tasted. It's just not worth the wait. read more

Fantastic place if you're a fan of delicious pizza and awesome draft beer. It has a very rustic setting and spacious back patio with a cozy brick corner near the fountain. If they'd bring back their 50 cent draft beers on Thursday night special I'd give them 6 stars, but alas somethings are not to be. Still though, their half price drafts on Friday night is one of the best deals in town. The food is good, the place is always hopping and the bartenders are friendly and talkative. My wife and kids brought me here for my birthday. Very glad they did. Tried 12 beers and every beer was very good. Also purchased 2 pizzas. They were very tasty. Paired well with the beers they brew. Most definitely a place I would return to. read more

Hopskeller Brewing is a new craft brewpub on the square in downtown Waterloo. It is located in an old brick building that has been wonderfully repurposed into a pub, pizza kitchen with wood fired ovens, and a production brewery on site. My wife and I met friends there after work for pizza and beer. Everything was delicious and this brewpub joins Stubborn German Brewing to create an amazing craft beer scene in Waterloo. First impression when walking into this establishment is "great spot!", but we walked in and no one greeted our party of six in the middle of afternoon. Place had very few customers today, and now I can see why. We sat ourselves and waited for 10 minutes and still no service. Finally, we just got up and left which didn't phase the staff at all. The place is a hopping place, but perhaps a bit too much, as it took forever to get a beer from the bar. And even though the music was great, the place is really loud. You can't really talk to someone without yelling at least on the night we were there. The best thing was the pizza which I would definitely recommend. Still, I'd be hard pressed to go back when you have to wait (for an eternity or so it seems) to get a beer at a brewery. That's just crazy. read more

Good pizza and mighty fine beer. Nowhere on the website do I see information about service. My party of seven had to order at the bar (even though there were 3 people behind the bar) and pay before the food order was sent to the kitchen. So our 3 pizzas ( to be shared) resulted in one person paying with a credit card. There were no plates just paper baskets we retrieved ourselves. We were not impressed with the set up. read more

Beer and food are excellent. Their handmade pizzas are to die for! Midnight Rambler is my personal favorite. Service was very good, always kept on checking back with us every few minutes. I never thought I would like an IPA, boy was I wrong! Their zero IPA is one of the best beers I've had in a long time. Next time I'm in the STL area I'm coming back! read more

Great Pizzas and beer. They have many different selections to Suite anyone's taste. The building is very unique. My wife really likes the IPA, I prefer their wheats. Make sure you get the pretzels. Perfect for a Saturday afternoon or a Friday night with friends. read more

There is no doubt that Hopskeller is a really cool spot to check out. I work at a microbrew in Missouri and was happy to check out this new addition to my home town. I will say that I wasn't totally impressed overall but it wasn't horrible either. The beers I tried all seemed to have a similar taste. Would have liked to see more wheat beers or perhaps a gose. Not much variety in my opinion but they were all great. The pizza that I had was amazing. Definitely plan to come back for the pizza alone. My biggest complaint would have to be the service. Not only did it seem like the bartenders didn't have any beer knowledge, they also weren't very attentive which is unfortunate.. I understand that they haven't been open long but they really have some things they need to work out. I'll try again some time in the future. read more

My wife and I ate here again last night. Specifically came in to try their Autumn Harvest beer. This is a must try/get. It's dark, smooth, and had hints of apple, caramel, cinnamon. Also had one of their pizzas. I did hear complaints about the long wait for food. Chef is still on point. I just think the kitchen is too small and when you have a rush of people ordering it's hard to get the food made cooked and then served. But our pizza was awesome. We also had the Stumpy's Basil Lemonade. Pleasant surprise... it wasn't sweet. It full of flavor and went down easy. Other than the kitchen issue, we would still recommend this place and it is becoming a go to spot for us. read more

We have been there twice. The first time was GREAT and the atmosphere was awesome! After such a nice time there, we invited friends to join us the following weekend. Unfortunately this time, there were children literally running all through the bar and seating areas as well as playing in the restrooms. It felt like a Chuckee Cheese and was just not as enjoyable as our first visit. We certainly cannot fault Hopskellers for the parents who obviously weren't paying any attention to their children. read more

Hopskeller is a great place to meet up with friends, grab dinner or play shuffle board. They have fantastic pizzas and salads. My favorites are the fat bottom girl pizza and the house salad. read more

This is my favorite place in Waterloo!! Great atmosphere, awesome beer, delicious food, and they have pinball! It was too hot for us to go outside, but I can't wait to come back to enjoy the patio.
