I'm guessing that the only two reasons why this place does well are the facts that this is just about the only restaurant in the area and they serve beer. It certainly can't be for their food. We ordered the drummettes which were slightly undercooked but ok. The brisket sandwich was like eating dessert. Get this. A brioche bun which is sweet. The grilled onions which are sweet. The bbq sauce which is super sweet. The coleslaw which is sweet. And the brisket was all burnt meat and chunks of fat. The torn potatoes that came with it were devoid of any trace of flavor or seasoning. The skin was way too crunchy and they smelled of old oil so I'm assuming that they don't discard the oil. One of the beers we ordered (wild mission) was undrinkable but no effort was made to replace it. First and last time at this sorry establishment. read more

This review is overdue since we came here a few months ago. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was really good! I I can't remember everything we ordered, but some of the items included the wood grilled corn bread (I LOVE cornbread!), roasted mushrooms and veggies, burnt end chili, and the smoked brisket. I can't say much about the beer since I'm not a beer drinker but the rest of the group seemed to like their beers. My wine was good though! read more

Meh! I've been wanting to go to HopSaint for a while because of all the awesome reviews I read. Finally had a chance. I arrived a little after they opened. Nice amount of people inside, not too crowded to have a wait but decent enough crowd to lead me to believe there was something special about this place. We ordered 2 appetizers; Deviled Eggs and Bacon Belly Bites. Deviled eggs did not have much of a taste, they needed salt and pepper (I don't ever put salt on my food, and wanted salt). The Bacon Belly Bites had too many caramelized onions, and not enough blue cheese. There was too much going on wrong with the Belly Bites. I ordered the Pulled Pork Po Boy for my meal. The meat was cold, not enough coleslaw, and too much bun. The potatoes had potential to be good but they were cold too. The beer on the other hand was good. They have a great selection of house beers plus others. I know my BBQ. Had BBQ at some great places across the country and I grew up around some amazing home cooks. And I would rather have Lucille's and I DO NOT like Lucille's. Living in the South Bay all my life I know there aren't too many choices for BBQ so I'm sure they will do well. But if you're willing to drive there are other choices in the So Bay/West LA area. The food is a 1 star but the beer selection, cleanliness, and ambiance were cool so I'm giving it a 3. Place is nice and open. Plenty of parking outside, service was attentive and friendly, beers are nice and hoppy, price is not cheap but not expensive either. Beef ribs are juicy, falls off the bone but too sweet (ask for blue cheese dressing to dip the ribs in, balanced out the sweetness), roasted wild mushrooms appetizer tastes delish and garlicky but a tad greasy. Good place to go for a flight of beer. Food is also very good. Loved the fried catfish. I would highly recommend it. Also, enjoyed the mac and cheese. the small plates are good for a quick snack with the craft beer. I would also recommend the cider. I like Honest Abe Cider the best. The desserts are good but small and expensive. We had the key lime and cherry tart. Good size for one person but hard to split with multiple people. TV's so you can watch the game. Good for large groups and kids. The beer is behind glass so there's no stinky beer brewing smell. read more

Have had this place bookmarked for months. Finally went in and had me some delicious fried catfish and corn bread. The fish was moist and tasty! I liked the small red beans it was served with and the sauce on the fish, though there could have been more sauce. I'm not really into greens but have them a taste anyway. The cornbread is a separate side order, and had the most delicious herbed butter on top. Service was great. I would like to know, though, being this is a place that serves a lot of barbecue, where are the condiments? There was no salt or pepper on the table nor barbecue sauce nor hot sauce... not that any of the food needed it. Everything was delicious. But I found it odd that I saw no salt and pepper shakers anywhere. I love pepper on most everything but I didn't think to ask for it. read more

So far I've been to Hop Saint twice and both of my visits were okay. I really love the staff and the beer but food is not their strong point. I've tried their brisket, their pork belly bites, poutine and a few other food options. Everything was just okay. I like how they have a southern feel to their menu...it's very cool. Besides that, the beer is on point as well as their service in both the dining room and the bar. I like to sit at the bar because it's very spacious and wide if you do choose to order a bunch of food. Definitely give this place a try! read more

We had a pretty awesome experience here. We made reservations for my hubby's birthday, and had a beautiful time. Since we were in a pretty large group, we were able to order a number of dishes. I love having options...especially when it comes to food options. The standouts from our meal were the brussel sprouts, the jambalaya, the ribs, the poutine, and my favorite....the killer shrimp. We had to order the killer shrimp because it had so much hype behind it....believe the hype....it's that good. I also really loved the poutine and the jambalaya....I am so happy with the flavors of the food here. The ribs and brussel sprouts were also really great, but nothing touches the killer shrimp. I am not a beer drinker, so I cannot attest to the brews, but people seemed to really enjoy the beers. There are a ton of breweries in the South Bay, but this one is really dope because it is an actual restaurant where you can sit and enjoy a meal. The ambiance here was great. it is a very casual spot with lots of televisions, so it's a great place to catch the game. This place is tucked away in a strange shopping center, but don't just drive by this place...you don't want to sleep on HopSaint. read more

Got a recommendation from friends and this place is fantastic. They do a great job with food and I've noticed that some places in the South Bay / Torrance can lack thoughtful flavor -- that or I'm just used to a different kind of food being a Midwesterner -- and this place is an exception to the rule. This is hands down my favorite restaurant. I have been here multiple times but today takes the cake. Usualy I am a fried catfish or burnt end chili guy(chili is only Sunday's) but today I went with the Braised short rib with red. Wine bbq sauce on a bed of grits and it was amazing. I am rating this place a 1-star due to lack of customer service, not from the waitress but from the Manager. I decided to stop by and have a few drinks with my mother and I. We ordered some beers and appetizers. When we decided to order another round of beers the manager approached us and said, "I will not be able to serve you cause you've been here for the last 5 and a half hours. I already have this table reserved." Of course, I decided to pay and tell my mom we must leave. When speaking to the manager she then decided to mention "The health department only allows 1 and a half hour to stay." First of all, I am a paying Customer. We weren't sitting there for 5 hours drinking water. If she would've approached us with a a different attitude asking if we would've sat in another table, we would've moved.. I love coming to Hopsaint with my dad ever since he moved to the area. It's a good vibe - a little bit on a noisy side due to its modern open space, but you see a range of customers from young groups at the bar to families in the middle big table. The beer menu offers a variety of different beers ranging from kolsch to IPAs to porters. The beers have been pleasantly consistent, which is important for microbreweries. The food menu may seem limited, but you can't go wrong with most things. Some of my favorites are: killer shrimp (must try - they also give you extra bread!), devil eggs with pork, and smoked salmon salad. The service is not the fastest ever, but satisfactory. The servers, mostly young, make you feel at home and are making sure you're getting what you need. I personally love coming on Sunday nights where things aren't ridiculously busy. Definitely recommend if you live in the area - seems to be a local favorite! read more

Visited the HopSaint as a way to kill time while we waited on another brewery to open and we are so glad we did! Very impressed with the quality of the brew. If you're into craft beers, you will be into this brewery. Also, we are from Louisiana so when we saw andouille sausage (made in-house) on the menu we were a little skeptical and curious so we ordered it. Not only was it beautifully plated, but also tasted amazing paired with the in-house-made vinaigrette coleslaw. We were then informed that the owner is from New Orleans and started noticing the subtle NOLA paraphernalia all over the brewery, including the name itself. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable about the brews and the food. Would 100 recommend to family and friends and will make it a must-go-to during our next visits. read more

There is so much to love about HopSaint! The food is incredible, their tap beers are even better and the staff is some of the nicest people I've ever met. The atmosphere of the restaurant is clean & comfortable. Christina, the manager who you will often see, is attentive and accommodating. Some of my favorite dishes I recommend include their Wild mushroom flatbread, Pulled pork poutine, The belt (it's a tasty burger) and The Saint, for dessert of course! If you're an IPA drinker like myself they have a great variety of traditional and hazy's. I recommend the Name Dropper IPA! Been to HopSaint just once prior and the food was delicious. Needed some catering for a small July 4th get together and someone mentioned HopSaint. The staff had our large order organized and labeled. The food was incredibly delicious and enjoyed by all.
