I go to several different liquor stores in the area depending on my location and errands that day. After today, Hops will be the only liquor store I will go to. Why? Prices are comparable to other stores but not always lower. It is smaller compared to the big chains. Service is on par with other stores - staff is always helpful and friendly. The store is bright and open and laid out well. I walked in today and walked out with a 12 year bottle of Weller. I challenge you to find it in any other store without being a part of their club, or requiring you to purchase other bottles of lower tier bourbon first. Other than "1 per customer" anyone could buy it. Thank you for your service to the common man. Can't wait to see what I find next time. read more

We have been visiting Hops, Grain and Vine quite a bit since March. During shelter in place they offered curbside pick up. They always have excellent customer service and fair prices. Recently, while shopping there we had a few questions and were looking for some unusual things and the owner spent a lot of time with us showing us around and and answering questions. These guys are extremely knowledgeable and helpful, they have ordered wines for us on a couple of occasions. Will generally pick their brains on new whiskeys and they never disappoint. Prices are generally very reasonable on spirits, beer prices seem a little high but the selection is awesome. read more

Occasionally came down from Woodstock as this place was always well known in our beer circle as a great place to get premium brews at good prices. However, this was our last trip. Pointed out to the beer guy that a Mortalis Chimera he had on the shelf for $35 was dated June 2021 on top of needing to be refrigerated as well as the crazy singles prices now (Parish Okra is $7 each vs $18 for a 4pk) He said he already knows about the age of the Mortalis Chimera then proceeded to get defensive about it to the point where I had to spell out that he lost us as a customer - he kept asking me why I felt this way and literally had to explain it three times. The guy clearly knows he is selling an unsuspecting customer old/bad beer, as I explained to him that I've had this same beer much younger and kept refrigerated that didn't last more than 6-8 months from canning. Once I lose trust in a place over their quality and pricing, that's it for me. I occasionally see other places smudge out the dates on beers that become old, and I don't buy from them as I've been burned too many times with bad beer. Thankfully the date was still on these particular cans, otherwise I would not have known how past date they are. read more

Rude and poor service to Military Service Members and Veterans! As a 30 year member of the Army I am appalled at what I experienced at this business today! I was at the counter checking out and I politely asked the cashier, who another employee identified as Michael, do they offer a military discount. He proceeded to immediately have an attitude and said it'll only be $0.50 savings so not worth it. I responded I'll take the discount because every bit helps. He then goes on a rant and says you guys (military) are always trying to save money and yells and points at me to get out! At first I thought he was joking, but I realized he had a very serious look on his face. I asked, why the attitude I was simply asking about if there's a discount for service members. He then exchanged my money a walked away with an attitude. But that's only the half of it. I then asked who appeared to be a manager and he defended his behavior, saying you have to understand he's frustrated because people ask for discounts all the time and if we gave them we wouldn't make any money. I responded I totally understand that , but I as a customer and service member just wanted to know what products are discounted since I was referred to your business as having certain discounts. Here's the PART THAT TOOK THE CAKE, as I was still talking to the manager the guy Michael walks back over and interrupts us saying I know what you guys in the U.S. military make and you are always trying to get a discount. He then blurts out how he served in the Korean War and how U.S. service members are always trying to get special treatment. And all his manager could say was he's having a bad day and gave a half hearted apology. Stay away, will never patronize this business again! read more

Love this west Cobb find. Great values and nice select of wines Beers and spirits. Something for everyone. Pricing is good value. Staff seems knowledgeable bit this is where they miss a star. Asked questions about beer and gentleman with beard handling beer was not helpful at all. I asked as I have been back three times and every time a few beers I like they seem to run out. I asked if they will no longer and he didn't answer. Rude employee and poor customer service. If you are not going to carry them you will make me go back to TW on Barrett PKwY, but that is on you. Do yourself a favor and listen to customers and have a little customer service. If you had a loyalty program you would not be so dismissive to good customers. read more

I've visited this shop four times and at each visit I asked for a specific whiskey. First time advised we get deliveries once a month for that so check back. Same thing 2nd and 3rd visit. The day before Christmas I was advised by who appeared to be a manager that it is too hard to get this time of year because of holiday. I called Big Al's in Powder Springs and they had 4 bottles. I called Sherlock's and asked they had just received in 2 cases. Why lie to keep me coming back and then tell me the biggest lie of all on my 4th visit? Fourth and last. I don't like being lied to. If you aren't going to carry a lovely brand then just say it up front. No the same man told me a lie to keep me coming back. Makes no sense because it's easy enough to discern the truth and now you have lost what would have been a great customer. This fairly new store replaced my regular "total wines & more" for prices and convenience. Who I later learned was the young man who often helped me was in fact the owner. He often recommended something beyond my usual every-day low-end wine when I needed something special.....results were always super in my price range. The customer service is exemplary. The variety of choices are great (yes, some even beyond my price range but I'm a pretty old guy with pretty unsophisticated tastes so, no-prob.) There's tons of good stuff/choices even for a frugal old man. Unless company's coming, for me it's a favorite lite beer in the warm weather and some red in the colder weather plus the Mrs's regular Chardonnay. But sometimes you want something better and affordable. I've found it here when I just asked. Now this latter may be wrong but I don't think so. I learned via chit-chat that the young man's dad covered for him at times. I was wearing my son's G.T. sweat-shirt. Whom I'm sure was the dad asked If I went to Ga. Tech. I said "no" but my son was at Ga. Tech. He went on to brag about his Daughter as a graduate of Tech and quite successful in her field. ....it was just a nice encounter. Some time later I somehow got the idea that the owner was a Clemson alum. Oh well, he's proved to me that even Clemson can produce excellence. Hops, Grain & Vine has a great selection of beers, spirits, and liqueurs. I found a number of hard to find liqueurs such as Amargo Vallet and Creme de Violet. They have a great selection Rums,Tequilas, Bourbons & Gins. Prices are on par with Total Wine and sometimes cheaper. read more
