This place took my breath away! At hopes ranch you can harvest lavender, shop the shop, learn from Ivy herself about the ranch and what they make and how to take care of your lavender and much more. I'd highly highly recommend this to everyone! It's a beautiful spot that smells amazing. 100% coming back and I have told so many people already to check this place out

If you're looking for a big field of lavender, look no further. (However, if you don't like lavender, there really isn't a reason to stop here.) Hope Ranch Lavender is one of the attractions/businesses on the Fruit Loop. The scenery is beautiful and very fragrant (from all the lavender). They have a small, outdoor store with some lavender products (among a few other items). Owners are welcoming, helpful, and friendly. The main draw of Hope Ranch Lavender is the rows and rows of lavender. You can buy a bundle of lavender that you go into the field and clip yourself. They'll give you a tie so you know how much you can pick per bundle.

This place is simply dreamy!! We had a rehearsal dinner here and it could not have been more perfect! ! Everyone should experience a dinner in the middle of lavender fields! It was a hit! Ivy and her family could not have been more accommodating! Beautiful fields, beautiful family

The most gorgeous setting with the best selection I've seen. Such a sweet owner. I absolutely love this place. I got a u-pick bundle from here for $10 and I fit so much in the bundle!

Amazing views of Mt Hood AND Mt Adam. Good variety of lavender for U-pick. Picnic blankets available for lounging too. Lavender scented goods are also quite stunning.

Stunning lavendar farm! You can pick your own bundle and there are different types of lavendar! Also beautiful views of the mountains in the distance :)

Lavender sugar cookies. I made these with culinary lavender from Hope Ranch!

I'm so happy I found this lavender farm! The owner was so welcoming and friendly. We were able to walk through the fields, take photos and enjoy the beautiful aroma of lavender. There is a small shop with lavender products. The owner was super knowledgeable without being at all pushy about buying. She gave me tips on baking with lavender. I'd never tried it but wanted to. I bought some of her culinary lavender and followed her advice to make some delicious sugar cookies! This ranch was really enjoyable!!

    Yummy Hope Ranch Cocktails!!!

I am saddened to say I don't remember coming here several years back - per my husband- but I can say I won't forget again. This place is an absolute gem! Luckily we got there early (opens at 0600 - got there around 0800) because after we sat down, it had a constant flow of traffic. Our party of 5 was sat quickly & order taken just as fast. In Oregon, they can't serve alcohol until after 0700 and when I saw their mimosa options I was get happy. I went with the standard mimosa while my husband went for the dole whip option. They were both excellent & priced well. We split the special eggs Benedict which had great flavor& presentation but the egg was over done which was slightly disheartening. I got a side of bacon to go (for my puppies) and cinnamon roll to go as well. I was full but couldn't go without it ! It didn't disappoint and sure would have been better if eaten there directly. Overall the menu is expansive and I will be back to try more options! If in the area, I would highly recommend stopping & giving it a shot

Not a friendly place for large groups…read more We were really the only group of people in there and I thought we'd get good service because of that. Our group came in two chunks and the host seemed annoyed by that. They pushed together another table and sat us together. It was kinda stuffy in the place so I opened up a window as it needed some fresh air. I was told it would possibly mess up the airflow of their kitchen? Some of us decided to split from the main group and sit out on the patio because of the stuffiness. The menu is for carnivores with a veggie burger and grill cheese for vegetarians but not really anything but chips and salsa for vegans. We also found out they only take 1 credit card and cash and no split bills. We were a large group of 14 people. It was a huge pain in the rear to figure out the mess. Honestly some of our party left and went elsewhere when they find that out. Not everyone had enough cash to cover them. When my burger came out they served it to the wrong person and we didn't figure it out for at least 10 minutes. So I got an already eaten plate. It was ok but they should be able to know who ordered what. Our waitress seemed annoyed by us and honestly not that friendly. My burger was overcooked and tasted like cardboard. There were no condiments like mustard, ketchup, mayonnaise on the table. We had to go get some. Just not a good experience here. I won't be back. I ordered my burger and fries and asked for it cooked medium.

There were maybe 4 tables occupied, so I was surprised it would take "a long while". The 35 mile loop in Hood River Valley is peppered with farms and vineyards, many with farm stands or tasting rooms so you can sample and purchase the heavenly fruits, jams, pies, wines, hard cider, flowers and treats along the way. For me the ride is as exhilarating as the farm stands. Around every corner you catch glimpses of Mt. Hood and Mt. Adams, depending on the direction you're heading, snow capped and standing tall and proud against a bright blue sky with rolling hills and vineyards in the foreground. As you head up 35, Mt. Hood becomes so large it spans the entire windshield of your car. Pull over on the side shoulder for some magnificent snapshots. During spring the hills are white and pink from the fruit tree blossoms creating incredible landscape images that are instagram worthy! The Cider Festival in April is worth the trip, pick up the map and visit the various cider houses for flights or pints. In the summer, visiting the lavender farms is a must! Rows and rows, acres and acres, of purple waves making for a wonderful backdrop. Blueberries, Marionberries, strawberries and cherries can be picked at many farms. Late summer, the sunflower farms are just stunning. Fall brings the Harvest festival with barrels of every varietal of apples and pears imaginable, and all things made from them! Of course there are pumpkins, gourds and corn as well. Most vineyards and stands have picnic tables outside so you can purchase and enjoy a meal and drinks right in the gardens and vineyards, perfect right now during Covid-19 times. Allows you to get out and enjoy the beauty of nature, safely. As you leave downtown Hood River you will see a sign for Panoramic Point. Turn and make this your first stop. The gates are currently closed so you can't drive your car up the hill, but it's worth parking and walking up the hill for the aptly named panoramic vista you will encounter. Next, visit the Gorge Whitehouse, my favorite and a must stop. The big White House with black shutters is located on a magnificent piece of property. The hills in muted shades of green and gold with fields of flowers and apple & pear orchards in the foreground is so stunning it almost looks like a painting. Get a pint of their pear-lemon cider and some snacks from the food truck and sit at a picnic table and just relax, enjoy, take it all in. Make sure to buy fresh picked cherries to take home! And a growler of the cider because you can only buy it there. You will thank me. A little further down the road is a Packer Orchards for fresh berry pies, cookies, jams, syrups and ice cream. Stop at Draper Girls Cider for delicious small batch ciders. In Parkdale, Solera Brewery has one of the best views of Mt. Hood from the picnic tables out back. Get an adult beverage and enjoy their pulled pork bowl, which is basically pulled pork nachos, and enough for two. There is always something spectacular to do and see along the Hood River Fruit Loop. It's a place I visit several times a year and never tire of it. Each season brings new vistas and bounty. The drive out there is just as gorgeous making it a pleasurable day trip or weekend. Go. Eat. Drink. Photograph. Enjoy.

At every twist and turn of the many roads, glimpses - then huge, majestic views of Mt. Hood and Mt. Adams - come into view and literally leave you in awe. I take the hour drive from Portland several times a month, in every season, and it never, ever disappoints. It is without question, my Happy Place. The city of Hood River is more like a town, with shops, services, restaurants and tasting rooms lining the streets. Like everyone, I have my favorite shops: Plenty, a women's clothing boutique; The Ruddy Duck, a women and men's clothing store plus accessories; and Twiggs, gorgeous jewelry from local and national artists and a beautiful assortment of unique home decor. There are lots of places to eat - you can grab coffee, pastry, sandwiches and salads for a picnic, or dine in. There is fine dining and casual restaurants, high end or comfort food. Even foot carts. Something for everyone's palette and wallet. Opposite the freeway (I-84) you will find another collection of restaurants lining the river. On a windy day, I can sit at a picnic table for hours and watch the magical wind surfers ride, jump and twirl, a myriad of brightly colored kites against the brilliant blue sky. If you find your way over there at sunset, the views are fantastic. The locals are very friendly. They know the town depends on visitors and tourists and never make you feel like an outsider. I'm always discovering new places based on their recommendations. Typically I stop in town, hit up my favorite shops, grab a coffee then head onto US-30 and visit Panorama Point immediately. It's a left turn as you are heading out on US 30 and it comes up quickly! Follow the winding road to Panorama Point, the gates will be on the right. When you get to the top, a 360 view of the valley and Mt. Hood awaits. Afterwards, I make my way to The Gorge Whitehouse for a lemon-pear cider, my favorite cider anywhere! You can only buy it there, they don't bottle and distribute so bring your growler and fill up! After a stroll through the beautiful property, it's off to orchards and vineyards. Packers for fruit pies and views of Mt. Adams. Grateful Vineyard for incredible views of Mt. Hood. A drive to Parkdale to Lavender Valley then Solera Brewery with picnic tables out back, a hard cider, the red barn and Mt. Hood - it's everything you need to feel like you are somewhere special. Apple Valley BBQ is across the street serving up brisket and sides. With so many vineyards to choose from, I try to visit new places and then they often become my faves. Stave and Stone, one of the ten original vineyards in this area, has a lovely tasting room, covered patio with individual fire pits and Mt. Adams in plain sight. With the added bonus of Pinot, the vineyard cat, going lap to lap. It's now a must visit for me! Any time of the year Mt. Hood is magical. Spring brings the blooms; thousands and thousands of acres of fruit trees with their white blossoms transforms the hills into what looks like snow covered fields! The only thing better is when the bing cherry and other cherry trees bloom. their vibrant pink against the blue sky is everything. During summer months you can pick your own berries or lavender! Lavendar Valley is a must experience, acres of purple lavender really set off the snow capped peak of Mt. Hood. At the wineries, the fields of flowers - dahlias, sunflowers - are incredible and also available to pick or purchase. When the leaves turn and the hills become vibrant shades of orange, red and gold, it's time to pick apples and pears, and have some apple cider doughnuts. Drives through the same hills and valleys seem new because of the vibrant colors illuminating the landscape. For those who enjoy hiking, there are lots of trails, hikes, parks in Hood River and all along the Columbia River Gorge. For me, a quick hour drive from Portland gets me away from the noise and current issues of the city, and lands me in a place of so much natural beauty, quiet and calm. These days, I find myself heading there weekly, soaking up the sunshine and magic of Hood River. It never gets old. It always makes me happy.
