Our morning guided kayaking tour with Bodie was one of the highlights of our trip to Hood River for both me and my college-aged son! It was so calm and peaceful. The scenery was breathtaking. Bodie was a great guide, pointing out many bald eagles and other things of interest along the way. He was helpful and friendly the entire time. Thanks for a fun, yet relaxing, experience!

Whenever my boyfriend and I travel, we like to go kayaking in the area. This was absolutely our FAVORITE kayaking tour ever. First of all, our guide Josh was very helpful and knowledgeable. He was able to identify all the fish, birds, ducks in the area. The water was so clear, you can see everything below you which was amazing. As well, the area the kayaking is in has very calm waters which makes for a relaxing and fun kayaking trip. I will recommend this kayaking tour to all my friends who come visit Oregon. Thanks for a great kayaking trip!

Omg. Omg. Omg. I'm from the city (LA) and quite frankly, I've never seen such beauty. I went on the sunset kayaking tour with my husband and we were left breathless. I am so glad we bought this tour. The sunset over the river on a hot summer night was something to behold. We also got to paddle up wind river and see fish in clear water! We saw blackberries and people swinging from a rope to splash into the river. Our awesome guide Todd asked if our group wanted to, but we skewed older and I'm a wuss. Haha. It was fun to watch the younger kids do it though. Todd also pointed a BLAD EAGLE!! I've never seen one before so that was a real treat. Definitely will book another tour with this company. So professional. Glad I experienced the gorge this way.

Amazing experience kayaking with Todd

This place is awesome. Came here on Labor Day and rented a kayak for an hour. Took our dog out on the boat with us and had a total blast. Super easy to find, convenient parking, friendly staff, and reasonable prices. Will definitely be back.

My mom and I went to Hood River for a 3 day get away. We had never kayaked or paddleboarded before. First we took the Sunset Kayak Tour. Todd was our kayak tour guide. Not only was he helpful and friendly, but he went way out of his way to fix our booking mistake. See, we booked for the following Tuesday, meaning we were there a week early! Since Todd already had brought the kayaks needed for that night, my mom and I were going to leave and chalk it all up to us being careless when booking. However, he was more accommodating than he needed to be. He called someone who brought over 2 more kayaks in under 15 minutes!! We were blown away by the outstanding kindness and customer service. The very next day we rented paddleboards from them. I was very excited, but obviously inexperienced. Todd and Josh were more than helpful, and answered all our many, many question. Everyone working at Gorge Paddling Center that day was friendly and easy-going, yet professional, too. We could take our time, no limit was set. You pay when you get back. A lifejacket was supplied. No shoes required. It really was the perfect day... learning to paddleboard, relaxing in the Columbia and enjoying the view. Any time we are in Hood River, we will be renting from Gorge Paddling!!!

The 35 mile loop in Hood River Valley is peppered with farms and vineyards, many with farm stands or tasting rooms so you can sample and purchase the heavenly fruits, jams, pies, wines, hard cider, flowers and treats along the way. For me the ride is as exhilarating as the farm stands. Around every corner you catch glimpses of Mt. Hood and Mt. Adams, depending on the direction you're heading, snow capped and standing tall and proud against a bright blue sky with rolling hills and vineyards in the foreground. As you head up 35, Mt. Hood becomes so large it spans the entire windshield of your car. Pull over on the side shoulder for some magnificent snapshots. During spring the hills are white and pink from the fruit tree blossoms creating incredible landscape images that are instagram worthy! The Cider Festival in April is worth the trip, pick up the map and visit the various cider houses for flights or pints. In the summer, visiting the lavender farms is a must! Rows and rows, acres and acres, of purple waves making for a wonderful backdrop. Blueberries, Marionberries, strawberries and cherries can be picked at many farms. Late summer, the sunflower farms are just stunning. Fall brings the Harvest festival with barrels of every varietal of apples and pears imaginable, and all things made from them! Of course there are pumpkins, gourds and corn as well. Most vineyards and stands have picnic tables outside so you can purchase and enjoy a meal and drinks right in the gardens and vineyards, perfect right now during Covid-19 times. Allows you to get out and enjoy the beauty of nature, safely. As you leave downtown Hood River you will see a sign for Panoramic Point. Turn and make this your first stop. The gates are currently closed so you can't drive your car up the hill, but it's worth parking and walking up the hill for the aptly named panoramic vista you will encounter. Next, visit the Gorge Whitehouse, my favorite and a must stop. The big White House with black shutters is located on a magnificent piece of property. The hills in muted shades of green and gold with fields of flowers and apple & pear orchards in the foreground is so stunning it almost looks like a painting. Get a pint of their pear-lemon cider and some snacks from the food truck and sit at a picnic table and just relax, enjoy, take it all in. Make sure to buy fresh picked cherries to take home! And a growler of the cider because you can only buy it there. You will thank me. A little further down the road is a Packer Orchards for fresh berry pies, cookies, jams, syrups and ice cream. Stop at Draper Girls Cider for delicious small batch ciders. In Parkdale, Solera Brewery has one of the best views of Mt. Hood from the picnic tables out back. Get an adult beverage and enjoy their pulled pork bowl, which is basically pulled pork nachos, and enough for two. There is always something spectacular to do and see along the Hood River Fruit Loop. It's a place I visit several times a year and never tire of it. Each season brings new vistas and bounty. The drive out there is just as gorgeous making it a pleasurable day trip or weekend. Go. Eat. Drink. Photograph. Enjoy.

Normally a DIY traveler, I can say with complete confidence that the decision to book with MountNbarreL is worth it, whether you are a resident or visitor escaping into the sun-soaked beauty of Hood River wine country. My husband and I took the Original Oak Grove (OG) Tour. Ali, the owner, greeted us with mango kombucha and bottled water and set us up with comfortable, well-tuned cruisers. The bikes are outfitted with deep handlebar baskets to hold any vintage gems you find in the historical Oak Grove Store and clever wine bottle baskets on the back. The route is carefully chosen to be accessible for all levels of cyclists, and if you decide you must have a case of that amazing Viento Riesling, fear not - MountNbarreL's shuttle can pick up purchases on the way so you don't have to take everything with you. We were pampered with treats throughout, like a charcuterie plate to go with our Italian-style wine tasting at Marchesi and lunch and snacks from Farm Stand in the Gorge (a local cafe and artisanal grocer) while picking blueberries and enjoying a private tour of Phelp's Creek vineyards. What struck me most is that Ali really partners with local wineries and businesses and is an integral part of the Hood River community. The guides (Kaela, Laurie, Dustin, Mike and Nate) worked like dogs to make the trip safe, fun for kids and relaxing for the adults. There was coffee ready every morning. Delicious breakfast. Yummy lunch. Great dinners with plenty of beer, wine and sodas. Laurie, our "Food Dude," was even kind enough to bring along Pringles as a special request/treat for the kids. We ended up asking Echo to supply our tents and sleeping bags. I read the earlier review about a sandy tent, but ours were clean and in good condition. It made the trip all the more relaxing for our family to not have to worry about packing our camping gear. We just threw our clothes in a bag and were ready to hit the water. As an aside, my husband is a seasoned drift boater/rafter who has been on the Rogue (and many other rivers) on his own many times. He was hesitant about going on a guided trip, but was pressured into it by me - a mom who wanted some down time from cooking, prepping, etc. His one complaint was that he couldn't drink beer while on the river. Of course, this is a safety issue, so he gets it overall and enjoyed his time otherwise. I think it is a testament to the entire Echo team that he ended up having a great time and would love to travel with them again. If you are looking to take a trip on the Rogue (or Salmon!) River, I highly recommend that you consider Echo.
