Beer flight; Red River mule
Jennifer H.

Best food we've had in the Red River Gorge. This farm-to-table restaurant changes its menu based on what is locally available, and its selection of local beers is bar none. Definitely try a beer flight; or try one of the moonshine cocktails (Red River Mule is celebrated). The Brats Pasta was delicious as was the Ultimate Grilled Cheese. Save room for dessert; we loved the bread pudding and the vegan spice and wine cake. The outdoor seating is large, allows dogs, and gives off a great ambiance,

Came here for breakfast for their last Saturday breakfast of the season! Super cute spot with only outdoor seating. They share a parking lot with a local crag, definitely a climber's haven! You order at the counter and then grab a table and they'll bring out your food. I got the biscuits and gravy with a duck egg and my wife got the breakfast plate. The biscuits and gravy were excellent! Some of the best I've had in a while. I would come back just for that! Especially given there aren't too many breakfast spots around the gorge. Also, this place is all farm to table which is awesome! Highly recommend!

Great spot at the gorge for local draft beer and food! Check their website for their daily/weekly menu. Happy hour on Fridays from 5-7. All outdoor seating but covered. Friendly staff.

Chicken Hibachi

We ended up here because most of the other spots around RRG are closed early in the week. It was hibachi day and we decided to do takeout because there wasn't a high chair for my littlest to sit in. We told the cashier it was to go and we sat and had a drink while we waited. A lady (who I'm assuming is the owner) brought out our food but it was made for dine in so I let her know we ordered it to go. The window directly to the kitchen was open and so was the kitchen door, and we heard her walk back and yell in a very condescending tone at the cashier that she didn't type "to go" correctly on the ticket. I understand it's frustrating when mistakes happen, but we felt very uncomfortable as a patron being able to hear how awful the employee was being treated over something like that. To make matters worse, she came back and said she had trouble getting it from the plate to the box so it was "messy". After paying $15 for a plate of food and it not being my fault it wasn't packed correctly, to just have it slung into a box was off putting. I felt like that could have been handled a little bit better than it was too. The food was decent but based on the uncomfortable vibe, there are much better and more inviting places in town.

Hop's is a true diamond in the rough!!!! Delicious farm to table food-so fresh and exciting. The place itself is cute, hipp located on the roadside, but surrounded by wooded views, creek and sandstone mountain clifs. The stuff is professional and enthusiastic. The variety of local beers, bourbon, wines, meads and carefully crafted cocktails are amazing. The food was so fresh and delicious, honestly I never tested chicken so juicy and delicious in my lifetime. I ordered the vegetarian hibachi-it was flavorful, fresh and exciting. My husband ordered the chicken hibachi and it was delicious too! They were out of stake hibachi by 7pm. We also had cucumber salad and olive-feta dip for appetizers. We got a delicious, flavorful, healthy and fresh meal that we have been craving on or longer road trip from Florida to Kentucky. If you are inthe Red River Gorge area of Kentucky definitely stop by Hop's!

I got the vegan chickpea salad Sammy. It was one of the best Sammie's I've ever had! Toasted bread was perfect and it was the typical "mayo" based salad. Dog friendly, cute place. Only thing that would have made it better is if they had some music playing in the "dining room" area.

The food is farm to table which is a great thing given that's really faraway from anything. The place is decorating and ambiance really cool with recycled materials. The food was delicious as we came in for taco Tuesday and got the vegan sweet potatoes and fried tomatoes taco plates. We got a vegan chocolate cake that was out of this world. The owner is so nice. I will come back when in the area.

What a food knockout! Redpoint BBQ is my new favorite Gorge food spot, and I didn't expect that…read moregoing in. That's because EVERY food item is top-notch and gourmet! Huge portions, so order accordingly lol Ranking my food items, from best to least: 1) Baked sweet potato (best I've ever had) 2) Hot Chicken sandwich (add the brioche bun) 3) Broccoli salad (perfectly creamy) 4) Asparagus (perfectly grilled) 5) Rack of ribs (the only subpar item, was ok) Also commendable are the drink prices! Cocktails were $9 so that went a long way to our enjoyment. As for the place, there's plenty of parking and great outdoor seating in a relaxed peaceful nature area. I can't wait to come back!

People were parking along the drive in, but then we realized they did have overflow parking. Parking all together was a cluster. There is no information on how to order if you order at the counter, sit down, someone seats, you, etc., so that was confusing. We got a seat, a server came over and got our order. It was soooooo cold inside. We had to go get jackets. It took a really really really long time for our food to come out. The food was delicious for the most part. Pulled pork and bbq sauce was tasty as was the Mac and cheese. The Cole slaw was just meh. My husband liked his brisket and sweet potato. He didn't love his corn bread. It came with an herb better that taste like a cheddar bay biscuit. One person got the grilled chicken and didn't care for it. All in all, great food and good portion sizes. We also got charged for 2 kids drinks even though it said they were included on the menu so I'd like that $6 back. They don't give you a receipt so I had no way of knowing until after I paid.

We will never waste our money here again. Service was awful, appetizer burned, both duck and steak were overcooked. My meal was supposed to come with asparagus that was no where to found. When I inquired about the side, I was told that the asparagus was ground up in the half dollar size polenta cake. SERIOUSLY?? Duck portion was less than 4 ounces (mostly fat). . $45 for a tiny filet. These folks are trying to play at being a real restaurant when all they're really doing is robbing people blind with sub par food and service. One person covering 5 (yes, 5 WHOLE tables). Even on an incredibly slow night service was awful. I don't know about anybody else out there, but I don't have $200 to throw away on BS restaurants. Especially disappointing on your anniversary. Let we not forget the wines, no brands listed, that tasted like watered down crap. The only reason their Facebook says 100% recommended is because they delete any reviews that say otherwise, Trust me and skip this one. Go to Carsons, Corto Limo or Guiseppes for amazing food and service. Guess I should have ordered the hamburger. Live and learn.

We entered through the alley (there's a sign by the fence directing you where to go). We waited in line as the lounge could only be reached by an elevator. The employee was counting those getting off the elevator to ensure capacity was not reached. We waited roughly 15-20 minutes to enter. We arrived at the top floor, stepped off the elevator, and were immediately impressed. This was unlike any spot I've seen in Huntington. It had an upscale vibe (loved the decor), but drinks were reasonable. A Corona was $4, and a specialty cocktail was $10. And we hit the jackpot as we found two seats on the patio along the outside (with a great view). My only complaint was the wait time to order a drink at the bar. We waited roughly 15-20 minutes and were standing at the bar the entire time. It may be a good idea to hire an additional bartender on the weekend. It's a great place for a date or hanging with friends. I'm looking forward to coming back and trying the food menu next time!
