We didn't have a ton of options in this area, but we could have done worse than 145 Roadhouse. My top-tier chum who literally went to the school of hospitality and I stopped by here for dinner last Wednesday on a pretty muggy, rainy evening on our way from the SE Appalachia section of KY to Irvine, KY. It was conveniently located right off 15, and despite the meh weather, the place was easy to spot largely because there were a lot of cars in the parking lot - a compliment to the restaurant and its food, or the only game in town? Based on our experience, probably a little bit of both. Definitely does have the roadhouse vibes; it's very spacious and kind of dark in there, with a bar to the right of the entrance and the vast majority of the acreage dedicated to a large dining area on the left. We were seated immediately and after the meal took advantage of the cool map situation by the bathrooms where, if you requested a pushpin from one of the employees, you placed it on the map to show where you came from. Already oodles of NJ representatives on there, which is unsurprising. The random North Dakota pushpin was a bit of a shock, but I guess they travel too. The menu was pretty large but I was immediately drawn to the Fried Catfish w/ Hush Puppies entree, along with the tater skins app, which our waitress went out of her way to compliment. The Catfish was decent; as you can see from the accompanying picture, it was a huge portion and I took a sizeable chunk of it to go (where I think I eventually threw it out because it's not really road trip friendly). Coincidentally (or not, given where we were in the country) I'd had some hush puppies the night before at a hotel in Blacksburg, VA, and these were better. Those others were over-fried but also had mac and cheese stuffed in them, so these basically had better texture but not as much flavor. The mac and cheese was a real low point, unfortunately. Not dissimilar to the hush puppies, they were super tasteless and a bit watery. They had a bit of breading/crumb topping, but it really didn't do anything to improve the situation - definitely something for them to work on. The taters were just okay; usually the issue with them is that they're in the deep fryer for too long (which is not an issue for a lot of people, I suspect), but these I thought actually weren't cooked enough. The interiors were a little tough so the potatoes could have used a little more time in the oven or fryer. Service was solid. Our waitress was very nice and happily contributed her thoughts/opinions on different items of the menu, which my chum loves to seek out when we're in a new, unfamiliar place. I was starting to get a little tired by this point in the day so it was nice to have efficient, quick turnaround times for everything. The prices were decent as well, which probably isn't too surprising given that we were still pretty far away from Lexington and other, more populated areas. This was fine for what it is, and my preference is always to go local when you're traveling through small town USA in lieu of the chains. This wasn't incredible, but we enjoyed our time here and left a literal physical reminder of our time here with the aforementioned pushpin. read more

This restaurant hasn't established its identity. The decor ranges from a graffiti wall to random old cooking utensils on other walls. Apparently it was karaoke night which consisted of bored employees playing around. Our waitress was really quiet, inattentive, and overall poor service. We ordered a medium steak and it was raw. The roll was burnt black and hard as a rock. All of the food was under seasoned and tasted like it was fried together in oil that wasn't hot enough. We did not finish our food and we do not recommend this place. read more

Hostess/waitress was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Our group of 6 ordered catfish platter, burgers, and salmon. Catfish and burgers were cooked and seasoned well. Hushpuppies were burned but my son isn't a hushpuppy fan anyway so it didn't bother him. I have allergy to red meat and dairy so the cook was very accommodating with the salmon cooking it in separate pan with oil and no butter which I appreciate so much! read more

In Campton for the weekend. stumbled upon 145's breakfast menu and had to stop. so good we back back the next day for breakfast again. the sausage gravy was good, but the bacon gravy was life changing. The home fries were perfectly delicious both days. We had the eggs Benny & the biscuits and gravy day 1 with sausage gravy and easily split the 145 sandwich with bacon and bacon gravy, good size for splitting but we probably could have both ate our own it was so delicious! The service was great, we were the only ones in at the time due to it being Sunday morning. They play rock music, which we like and the ambiance is very modern and alternative to other establishments! read more

We decided to go here after reading reviews. Our experience was not close to most of the reviews. Food - The quality was average. We had the Filet and the Ribeye. We wanted Salmon Bites as an appetizer but we were informed they were out of them. I wanted a baked potato as my side but again, they were out of them. Important to note we were there on a Wednesday at around 4:3O before the main dinner rush. We then wanted to order a glass of wine and again they were out of the wine we wanted. Then the wine offered which was not on the menu was $2 more than most of the other wine. I am a patient person and give a lot of grace but we never heard the words "I'm sorry." I like to eat at local restaurants when I travel. My kid and I were staying in Campton, so we stopped for dinner at 145 Roadhouse. Parking is a little cramped, and the outside of the building is nothing special. Inside, the ambience is decent, with TVs and a jukebox. Service was prompt and polite. I ordered the wings and noticed they tasted a little weird, but I ate them anyway (I figured maybe they hadn't changed out their oil in a while). It wasn't the oil. Within a couple hours I felt "off," and during the night I woke up with full-blown food borne illness. It totally ruined my visit to the gorge. I recommend steering clear of 145 Roadhouse. read more

We were traveling through and tried another establishment but they weren't open yet so we settled here at 145 Roadhouse. They were not busy when we arrived. We ordered the loaded fries which were edible but I make better at my house. We then had the sliders and a house salad. The house salad should be served in a bowl because it got everywhere lol. The sliders were 2/5. The patty was really thick with a thick pc of onion. They were not cooked equally. One was well done while another was very pink which we don't like. The waitress was nice but not real attentive. It took awhile to get our bill. The inside of the establishment is nothing special. Overall we would not go back. I would think based off of our visit that the bar is what keeps this place open and not the food! read more

My husband is working out of town in Beattyville, KY and I came to visit...As usual, I was looking on Maps for restaurants close by & this didn't come up at first since, it's about 20 minutes from the hotel, but luckily I kept searching. Not much to look at from the outside, but very clean and home town feeling inside. Service was exceptional, friendly and attentive. Didn't have to wait long on anything. Both of us got the same dish, medium ribeye's with loaded mashed potatoes (they were out of baked potatoes but it didn't matter, the mashed potatoes were fantastic). I had dinner with my family here on a Friday night. The aposphere felt like I was home. The ballgame was on! Everyone was so friendly and accommodating! Our drinks and apps came out super fast, and I must say the fried pickles were some of the best I've ever had! Our entrees were amazing and the special which was fried catfish, I wish I could have every day. You can tell Chef Hope has experience with seafood. This battered catfish was literal perfection. 145 Roadhouse will be in my regular RRG rotation. It's such a short drive for the best dinner experience ever. They often have live music too. read more

What a wonderful little place to have dinner! As soon as we walked in, the atmosphere was so upbeat alongside the staff that greeted us immediately upon entering. I won't even complain about the lack of air conditioning, because this truly was an overall great experience. The Kentucky Mule really stood out for me, and the PB&J Old Fashioned gives this restaurant a great name. Our waitress was wonderful, and recommended the fried pickles when we were trying to decide on an appetizer; they were fantastic. The salad that I had was refreshing, but the ribeye and filet were to die for. The salmon was also cooked well, melting in your mouth as soon as you take a bite. The visitor center in Slade recommended this restaurant while we were vacationing in the RR Gorge. There weren't not many places open on Mon/Tue so we drove over to Campton and loved this. Salmon Bites with Bourbon Dip were wonderful! I liked my Margarita and my husband and I loved our Fried Chicken Sandwiches Liberty was a friendly and gregarious server.
