Hop Bo Chinese Restaurant ~ 2 145 Palm Bay Rd NE # 109, West Melbourne, FL 32904. "The Valve" Here we are with another spot on the boarders of Palm Bay, technically West Melbourne, FL. Felt like deja vu pulling up to this place. Just like every other Chinese takeout place scattered across these badlands. Just yesterday I can remember being a kid kicking and screaming in one of these dingy lit places with the hazy tinted menus that look like something Wish would sell today. Outdated to put it nicely. As I was trying to google what Hop Bo meant in English I walked inside what seemed to be a traditional Chinese takeout joint. Nothing different going on here at first glance, or second, or third. They happen to have a few tables and chairs to sit down at so I grabbed a menu and started scouring what appeared to be a math exam with all the numbered choices. I ordered an orange chicken combination platter(egg roll and fried rice included), beef teriyaki on a stick, and crab rangoon. Now as I was waiting for my food, I started observing my surroundings in detail. Really taking it all in in there. The table tops were clean, but besides that, place didn't look like it'd been deep cleaned in awhile. Giant mirror with dust all over it. Dead flies scattered all over the ground in the corners. (Shown in pictures) Walls scuffed up and the look as if it's been 12 different establishments before this one. They opened in 2002 according to the pictures hanging on their wall. Also they're trying to flex some awards from 2007 and 2008 as shown in pictures lol. Which is prly the last time those flies were swept up, but who knows. Didn't bother with the bathroom I had seen enough. Couple of young kids running around in the kitchen. One came up to me to say hi and lingered directly behind me for a bit. A young girl helping answering the phone and a girl about my age also taking phone orders in front. Now once my food was ready they put all items in a small box as if you just left Sam's Club with a few things. Not the worst idea on that part. But once I sat down trying to get pictures I realized I had no plates to start pulling things out so I had to improvise at that point. Also tried to buy a bottle of water after the fact and they wouldn't do any Apple Pay or debit card transactions under 5 dollars which is what lead me to leaving and eating this one at home. Orange chicken was just like every other overly breaded orange chicken you find almost anywhere. Dark meat overpowered by orange breading. The flavor on the orange wasn't bad, but I could just feel the sodium hitting my blood stream within a few bites. The fried rice wasn't anything special either. The beef teriyaki didn't smell good to me, chewed on a corner for a minute and threw the rest away. Egg roll also didn't smell good. I'm not a big fan of this type of food, sodium city one could say. The best part of the meal was actually the crab rangoons. Which is the only thing I kept eating. I did notice they had a diet section and vegetarian section on their menu. They got a few points for that part. Anyways nothing crazy here. The flies and sodium kind of did it for me, so I'm gonna go drink roughly 8 green juices and take my blood pressure medication now and just end this one here. Wouldn't go back myself, they can have it. See y'all on the next one.

Hair in my food. He accused me of putting it there. I have bright orchid hair. This is dark brown.

I've never had worse service. Never had worse chinese food either. There was literally hair in my food and he said "how convenient." If there was a way to give 0 stars im sure a lot of us would hit that instead.

General Tos Tofu, white rice and Egg Roll. Delicious, nice to have a Chinese takeout place with tofu options

My wife picked up the chicken mei fun today. 95% noodles, 5% little scraps of chicken and onion. Terrible. Will not be going there again.

This isn't usually the case since kids meals typically go uncared for. The two adult meals we had were both great and veggies again were really good. Service: the waiter was super great. He took care of us so well and was really great with the kids. They have a robot food cart that brings the food to the table. The kids absolutely loved it. The waiter even brought the "kitty cart" out three times so our kids could each press the buttons and make it talk. Ambiance: it was quiet and cozy. We loved the aquariums too. We even met the owners who sat at the front door. They were super kind and really seemed to care about our experience as a family. We will be back for sure.

The soups and salads were great....hot when they should be and cold and crispy when they should be. My entree was so shocking I forgot to take a picture....I got Dragon and Phoenix (shrimp and scallops)... the four shrimp were not large and all dried out while the U10 (called out on menu) scallops were the size of a quarter at most. It was cold....mine was the low light. The pupu platter was enjoyed by who ordered it and the Crispy Prawn with Honey Glazed walnuts was a hit with the birthday girl. Merry me prawns were coconutty and hot too. THe seaseme chicken was hot and actually very good value. Protip do not order water....it tasted like a hose...very bad. Lemon could not help it. Sweet tea was a hit with my very southern mom.

Great food and quick service!…read more Having ordered an assortment of things across many visits, I can recommend: - Spicy wontons - a MUST. They have a flavorful spice and aren't TOO spicy in my opinion - Any noodle soup dish. They are comforting and good flavors and plenty of protein! Beef noodle had really tender beef (I was kind of expecting to be more chewy and was impressed with how tender it was)

Dumpling lovers unite!…read more We finally have a spot in our charming Brevard county that offers amazing Chinese street foods galore! A quaint and minimally decorated spot, nestled into a un observing strip, this gem could easily be missed. After seeing their menu online, we threw on our clothes and drove as fast as we could have a feast ! And what a feast it was !!! Our server was very attentive and helpful with making multiple decisions and the bubble teas were fresh and sweet and delicious . (Looking forward to when they have all the flavors available) We started with a bowl of warm and hardy curry soup with delicate glass noodles and flavorful broth. We then shared an order of the Chashu pork bowl with marinated egg. It wasn't as crispy as I'm used to...even a little gelatinous, but boy did it have the most amazing flavor. As a texture person, it didn't slow me down one bit. We also got some crispy fried wings that were perfectly cooked and juicy inside, and crunchy fried scallion pancakes (one of our favorite street foods) Then came the soup dumplings. The best I've actually had anywhere. Delicious broth with deep flavor, wrapped in a steamed wonton with tons of seafood meat inside. The pork and chive dumplings were crispy and soft all at the same time, bursting with juice and flavor. With such a large order, we had food to eat for days, but still have so many things left to try and cannot wait until our next visit!

Hop Bo is hands down the #1 Chinese restaurant in town--no question about it. The quality of the…read morefood really stands out. You can taste how fresh the ingredients are in every dish, and everything is consistently flavorful and well-prepared. What makes this place even more special is the chef's experience. With over 20 years of professional cooking under their belt, it really shows in the attention to detail and authenticity of the flavors. Every dish feels thoughtfully made, not rushed or generic like many other takeout spots. If you're looking for reliable, delicious, and authentic Chinese food, Hop Bo is definitely the place to go. Highly recommend!

Extremely Disappointing Experience -- I Will Never Return!…read moreDisgusting Place I want to make other customers aware of my terrible experience with this restaurant. This was my first and last time ordering from this establishment, and I will never spend my money here again. I encouraged my coworker to order lunch from this restaurant, and unfortunately, the experience was nothing short of horrible. To begin with, my coworker called to place the order, and the woman who answered the phone was extremely rude and obnoxious. She even hung up on her! Because of this, my coworker decided to go to the restaurant in person to place our orders. When she arrived, both orders were placed together in one messy plastic bag. When she politely asked for the orders to be separated, the employee snatched the bag from her. The level of disrespect and lack of customer service were unacceptable. Unfortunately, things only got worse. When we opened the food at the office, it was burnt, and sweet-and-sour sauce was spilled all over the bag. The food was in such poor condition that we ended up throwing everything away. We called the restaurant to report the issue, and the woman who answered said the owner would call us back. The owner eventually called, and we explained how horrible the food was and that it was burnt. What shocked me most was his response. Imagine calling a restaurant to complain about burnt food, only to have the owner tell you to get the food out of the garbage and bring it back to them. Seriously? What kind of response is that to a paying customer? There was absolutely no empathy, professionalism, or genuine concern for our experience. I explained that we had already thrown all the food away because it was unacceptable to eat. Mistakes can happen in any business, but how a business treats its customers when something goes wrong speaks volumes about its management. The rude service, careless food packaging, poor food quality, and the owner's response were completely unacceptable. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone, and I will never eat here again. Customers work hard for their money and deserve quality food, basic respect, and decent customer service. Unfortunately, this establishment failed on all three counts. Zero star DESERVED, STAY FAR AWAY!!!!!!!!

1270 N Wickham Rd, Melbourne…read more Absolute disgrace. Avoid this establishment. My 93.5-year-old mother--a low-income widow of a deceased wounded warrior--spent a massive portion of her limited monthly budget to treat herself to an $88.89 Uber Eats order from Lucky Garden (1270 N Wickham Rd). What arrived at 2:36 PM was completely inedible and a total health hazard. Every single item was microwave-searing hot, not fresh pan-hot. The Bourbon Chicken and Sweet & Sour Chicken were severely over-microwaved to the point of being rock-hard. We literally could not cut through the meat with a sharp knife or kitchen scissors. The shrimp in the fried rice was exactly the same--completely rubberized, dried out, and unsafe to consume. When contacted, the restaurant refused to help or take accountability, claiming it is an Uber issue, while Uber claims they no longer credit for restaurant quality. Taking nearly $90 from a vulnerable 93-year-old senior for food that belongs in the garbage is shameful. Management needs to contact Uber Eats immediately, take responsibility for their abysmal kitchen quality, and authorize a full refund for this order. I called the restaurant and they said to have mom bring food in and they will remake it for her and because she can't drive the restaurant will not do anything about this order. Per Michael at the restaurant this is the restaurant policy. They will keep her money but will not help reimburse her and Uber Eats said they do not reimburse for food anymore.
