I absolutely love Terri at Healthy Expectations. She helped me get my life back!! When I arrived at…read moreTerri's office a year ago, I was so defeated and feeling terrible. I had been on a long two year road of several needed surgeries that had caused nerve damage to my pelvic area. I had a hypertonic pelvis due to the stress and all my pain. I ended up seeing a doctor in Chicago that recommended Terri who she felt was the best therapist in Fort Wayne. I had been to Steppin up for a few weeks when I was referred by my Dr here in town but they really didn't do much for me. The knowledge at Steppin Up just wasn't there. Steppin Up versus Healthy Expectations was night and day! On the first day I met Terri, I really couldn't do much of anything . Sitting and walking was hard to do. I just felt terrible and very depressed. Over time she taught me skills on how to release and stretch my hips and pelvic area. Calm my flared nerves that caused me so much pain. Terri taught me ways to breath to relax my tense muscles. I stayed dedicated to seeing Terri twice a week along with my Dr in Chicago. I did all the homework Terri gave me to do and listened to her calm words of advice. After seeing Terri for almost a year, I am almost pain free. I have started doing things I used to enjoy and slowly feel my life is returning back to normal. It's so important to have a good physical therapist that understands the process of healing, patience that is needed to fully heal and pushes you. Dealing with pelvic issues and nerve damage isn't fun or a topic you want to share with the world. I want to share how important it is to take action if you feel something is wrong. Terri is not only a pelvic therapist but deals with other issues in the body. I will be forever grateful to Terri! I absolutely would not be where I am today without her. I would highly recommend Healthy Expectations!!

I explained why, he just rolled his eyes. I asked how much weight was the box that I was lifting before weights. He said "Don't worry about it". During my evaluation, clients were coming in (all white), He spoke to all of them said goodbye to all of them very nicely, then continue to still be rude to me. The evaluation was supposed to take 4 hours. He did my evaluation in 2 hours. At the end of my evaluation he told me when I get home ( I'm thinking he's going to tell me to ice or put heat on whatever that is hurting me) that I should really think if I put in my full effort into my evaluation. Tell me he's been doing this for over forty years, so he knows what he's talking about. I couldn't believe how rude he was to me. Then it was the coldest day we had, below 0 outside. So after I was done, I started my car from my remote starter and sat in the lobby. He comes out to the lobby and says to me "Are you waiting for a ride or something?" VERY RUDELY! I said no, "I'm warming up my car." He was like, "oh okay, I was wondering why you're still here." I feel that I was discriminated on so many levels, because one, of my race. Two because of the reason why I was there.

My Neurosurgeon recommended I start physical therapy beginning in April so I spoke with family and friends for a referral and ultimately starting searching online. Summit PT had better reviews than many other clinics in town. I chose the Lima Rd. location. Simply stated, they were excellent! Gretchen E. provided most of my PT. She listens to your needs, sets reasonable goals and challenges you to push through as you gain more flexibility. I had 8 wks. of PT. Being in my early 70's I continue to do the daily excercises I was sent home with. I highly recommend Summit PT. L. Lankenau

Best physical therapy providers I have ever had.read more

I went to Mallers and Swoverland for pain and discomfort stemming from the front right shoulder…read morewhen I ran. The male physical therapist did not treat my shoulder, never once touched my shoulder. He did injure my neck, state that my pain was related to my cycles, stick his hands in my mouth, and completed multiple rounds of scoliosis tests. The PT was overall very handsy, even when not necessary. For example, placing his hand on my shoulder when he sat next to me. Just placing it, not for any treatment purposes. Details are below. I would not recommend this practice to any family or friends. I especially feel that female patients should be cautious. The therapist that I felt abused me is unlikely to be fired from the practice, as he is heavily intertwined in ownership. In the second appointment he cranked hard on my neck hard. Within hours, I had severe pain in my neck and headaches. I've been in pain since this appointment in early June. A recent MRI confirmed that the pain resulted from two bulging discs in my cervical spine. Surgery may be needed to fix the damage caused by Mallers and Swoverland. As PT continued, I stated at each appointment the pain in my neck and headaches were not getting better. At the last appointment, the PT questioned if the cervical pain and headaches were a result of my cycles. I'm in my mid-40s. Prior to this therapist laying hands on me, I never had cervical pain or headaches. When I denied that the pain was related to my cycles, he continued to question if it was, and stated that it wouldn't be my fault, just a part of female hormones. During multiple visits, the PT repeatedly forced me to open my mouth as wide as possible, and would ask if anyone ever told me I couldn't open my mouth very wide (remember, I'm seeking treatment for pain in my right shoulder). The therapist surmised that the pain in my shoulder was related to tight facial muscles. On the last visit, he stuck his ungloved knuckles in my mouth to prove that I couldn't open vary wide. My upper teeth scraped his knuckles as he pulled his hand out of my mouth. I tasted his skin for the rest of the visit. Also, the reason that I attempted PT is to relieve pain my shoulder. The pain in my shoulder continues. Finally, something to note is that at least one of their 5-star reviews were written by an employee, not a patient.

I went to Integrity for therapy on a shoulder injury. From the first visit to the last, I never…read moreonce felt like I wasn't welcomed there. The staff, Adam, Amy, and Kathy (I'm horrible with names so I hope I got those right) were always pleasant and on the ball. They treat you like a person and NOT a customer who is being sent there by a doctor or insurance company. Over the four weeks, the staff, myself, and other individuals socialized quite often making the stay there... friendly. It made doing the routines that much easier to do. No drill sergeant telling you do drop and give him 20. Though it is said, and self confessed, that you shouldn't let Adam count for you. =) On Day 1, Adam took the measurements on what I could do. He described the injury, pinpointed areas that needed work, set up some home exercises, and set up a goal to shoot for. He took it easy, watched and explained the exercises and made sure you were doing them correctly. I left my first initial appointment sweaty! I didn't know how. It wasn't overtaxing, but it sure did feel good! At no point was Adam over taxing. He and the staff took care and noticed on how one did with the tasks at hand. Never did he attempt to over exert and put you at more risk. It was surprisingly easier than I had thought it would be. Some say that therapy is more like torture. Maybe at some places, but not at Integrity. After my third visit, they went over some papers I had filled out on my initial visit to see if some of the problems have diminished. Or, worsen. I was actually quite surprised to see how far I have moved along in just 3 visits along with the home exercises. But I still wasn't at the "goal" mark so we continued on and increased some of the activities. About halfway through, we redid the measurements. Again, surprised how far I moved along which helps mentally knowing that you are progressing. Well this is getting longer than I had thought so I'll wrap it up. To sum it all up, if you have the opportunity to choose your therapist, consider using Integrity Physical Therapy in New Haven, IN. I am extremely grateful that I did and that I'm back to my normal self, if not better. And you will be too.
