I'm sitting at work on a Friday afternoon, and a coworker asks me, "Do you want to watch hot girls…read morein lingerie play tackle football tonight?" ...I was offended he felt the need to ask. So, not knowing what to expect, we rolled down to the Citrus Bowl that night and became instant fans of the sport. Let's get that out of the way first. This is a real sport. More specifically, it's tackle football, coached by former NFL players/coaches, it has trades/free agency, and the girls are running real football plays with wide receivers shifting in motion and QB silent counts. One major difference between the LFL and standard football is the teams have to pass at least twice every set of downs to discourage teams from getting too run-happy. The end result is an exciting blend of beauty, brawn, bras, and panties. Our experience at the Citrus Bowl was fantastic. The stadium announcer did a good job of getting the crowd fired up, and they played a constant mix of Jock Jams to keep the party rolling at all times. My buddy and I were remarking that the music at the stadium was better than local radio. We heard songs like Get Ready For This, Whoomp There It Is, The Power, Welcome to the Jungle, Hip Hop Hooray, and Rock and Roll Part 2. Combine that with alcohol and sexy football, and it was good times! After the game, the Orlando Fantasy met with their fans to sign autographs and pose for pictures. The players were all down-to-earth, and that's just one of the many reasons why this sport is gaining in popularity. I'm not a fan of fantasy football, but I am a fan of Orlando Fantasy football. It's nearing the end of the regular season now, which leads into the playoffs and ultimately the Lingerie Bowl which coincides with the Super Bowl.

There's the main pool that goes from 3 feet to 6 feet deep, a spa pool (jacuzzi), and a smaller wading kids pool. I'm in town visiting my dad so I'm glad we found a pool near to where he lives. I would definitely recommend using these facilities. The charge was $3 per person.

Many had to park on the sides of the streets. Bathrooms are outside in a stand alone shed. There was 1 outside food vendor selling hamburgers and hot dogs, Gatorade and water. There is a boat dock and various spots for kayaks. This park is known for having luminescence tours at night. The park also has a huge pavillion perfect for big events. You can rent this pavillion or the small room by the park through parks and recreation. This playground is located on the water and you can see lots of beautiful birds in the area. Recently we spotted a gopher tortuous enjoying the land. They are currently remodeling in the back but don't let this construction distract you. The bathrooms are across the parking lot from the park but always clean. I would suggest bug spray at this park. My only complaint is chiggers. They are the worst. Lastly we recently tried camp with parks and recreation and while the camp filled up quick, my son had the best two weeks here. I would highly suggest this park and their facilities.

My family and I went to our first event last night, a double header with the Tampa Bay Tantrums vs…read morethe Santa Cruz Boardwalk Bombshells and the Cigar City Mafia vs the Black Widows. The kids were excited all day to go, and had picked out their derby names before we left. Once we got there, parking was overflowing into KMart across the street from the SkatePlex in Tampa. After getting tix, getting in, and setting up our seats (good idea to bring fold up chairs), we were right on time for the action. The first bout was very entertaining, both travel teams were excellent. In the end Tampa Bay pulled ahead, mostly due to excellent speed and agility by Jammer Barbie Bont. The kids stuffed themselves with junk food, got their hair painted, and bought t-shirts between the 2 bouts. I had a couple of beers to get into the mood of the event, PBR being a sponsor of the TBDD. The second bout started off a bit slower, with lots of tactics and few chances being taken. In the end, the Mafia won by only 2 points. A tremendous bout. We are all excited to go to the next event on September 10th. You should really make it a point to go!

It's connected to a bowling alley (literally connected), but we spent our time in the skating rink and didn't journey to the bowling alley part of the building. The rink is in serious need of updating. If you are thinking this is going to be bad, you are wrong. Roller Derby fans and participants are very much into the sport and they put on a great show. There is even a designated person walking around willing to explain what the heck is going on :-) The Roller Derby itself was fun to watch, exciting at times, and once we understood the rules, like watching any other sporting event. The rest of the experience outside of the actual roller derby sport was unique and enjoyable. Raffle tickets were sold, there was an intermission show (fencing), pamphlets were passed around for a non-profit, and there are souvenirs and food for sale. Everyone should go to Roller Derby at least once in their life. I absolutely recommend giving this a try.

The one time when my son and his friend were throwing an object back and forth In the pool and my son got hit in the eye accidentally, they called me immediately and the P.A. was able to write him a prescription and she took care of everything. The camp is a little "quaint" but that adds to its charm. Last year my son did a week at another camp and begged me to only enroll him at Camp Horizon. It was way overcrowded at that other camp and the food terrible. I will be sending my daughter to Camp Horizon when she old enough. I appreciate they keep the price reasonable too.

Today I visited the campground that I have been sending my kids to for the past eight years. This…read moreis old fashioned sleep away camp with activities like archery, rilfery, swimming, arts and crafts, fishing, sailing, canoeing and water skiing. It is off the beaten path in rural Leesburg. You enter through a quaint tree lined road and reach the campground that is situated on lake Harris. The dock reminds me of something out of the movies. It is wooden with an upper deck that looks out over the massive lake. The camp director was nice and let us take a walk around. The grounds were so peaceful and relaxing. The buildings are older but well maintained. They have air conditioned cabins, a gymnasium, snack bar, chapel and dining hall. The price includes 3 hot meals for the week. There are discounts if you attend two weeks and if you have a sibling that attends. I would have visited a long time ago however they have van trasportation from Pembroke Pines for only $10. each way!!! They don't have any televisons and they don't allow campers to use cell phones or electronics. My kids come home tired after having a blast all week . Last year my daughter had such a good time that she actually got camp sick. When she got home she was upset for days because she wanted to go back!!!
