In January 2025, we visited the small town of Floyd, VA and ate at an amazing little Italian restaurant called Geraldi's. (It was such a great experience that you should read the separate review we wrote for that location.) While there, we met Albert, the owner, who shared with us that his grandson Joe owns Geraldi's in McMinnville, OR. We told Albert that we had just been in McMinnville and promised that we would visit his grandson's restaurant on a future trip to visit family in the area. This visit, we made sure to plan a stop at Geraldi's--and we did just that today, two days before Christmas 2025. We arrived a little before 4:00 PM and walked inside. The exterior is well maintained and there was ample parking available. Inside, the ordering process is straightforward: you order at the counter, take a seat with the order number stand, and your food is brought out when it's ready. There's a menu board behind the counter, and hard-copy menus are conveniently located on both sides of the entrance. The kitchen is completely open behind the counter, so you can watch everything as the food is prepared, which we always enjoy. My wife ordered the chef salad with added grilled chicken, along with a side of two meatballs. We remembered just how good the meatballs were at the Floyd, VA location and hoped they would live up to that memory. I ordered a small (14-inch) calzone with pepperoni and sausage, which comes with a side of marinara. When our meals arrived at the table, the portions were huge. The chef salad was loaded with fresh ingredients and the grilled chicken was perfectly cooked. The meatballs absolutely lived up to expectations, tender, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The calzone was massive, even for the "small" size, with a generous amount of filling and a nicely baked crust. The marinara was rich and well-balanced, pairing perfectly with each bite. Overall, this visit felt like a continuation of the same family tradition and quality we experienced in Floyd, VA. It's clear that pride and consistency carry through the generations. If you're in McMinnville and craving Italian comfort food made well, Geraldi's is absolutely worth the stop.

Dropping $100 at a place to stare at someone's underwear band while you're ordering isn't very appetizing.

We arrived 30 minutes before they closed (too close for comfort, but we wanted to try), so I asked the host if they could still seat us. And while they weren't enthusiastic (I know I wouldn't be), we got a table and were promptly and warmly welcomed by our server. Even with only half an hour to close, we didn't feel rushed, and they took the time to explain the menu and offered suggestions. My lobster and I split a small arugula salad (which was indeed plenty!). It was simply dressed and packed full of flavor. I don't know why my basic salads at home don't taste this good. He got the sausage calzone, and I ordered the mushroom pizza. Both of our mains were delish. The sausage in the calzone was fennel forward, which we love. The fried sage atop my mushroom pizza was a delightful addition, and I'm not even a big fan of sage. Hey, people grow and change! The space itself is cozy and inviting. We look forward to returning for an earlier dinner so we can try the cocktails and dessert.

We had made the 25 minute drive from West Linn because we heard the pizza was that good and when I say it did not disappoint, that's an understatement. The crust was flavorful, had the perfect texture, wasn't too "doughy" and the char from the wood fired oven gave it a nice smokiness. The other ingredients were solid as well...the cheese was smooth, the sauce was perfectly balanced and the small pepperonis had just a little more spice to them (we got (1) pepperoni and (1) pepperoni and ham). I hate to be "that guy" but we used to live in Brooklyn, NY (we loved Totonno's and Grimaldi's) and Massachusetts (we loved Regina), and we've struggled to get GREAT pizza in the 6 years we've been out here...now we have a go-to for slammin pies. I feel bad that this post doesn't include photos, but one of the pizzas didn't make it home and the other was attacked before I could get a good pic. Their ranch: Before we left, Randall asked if we wanted peppers, parmesan or ranch, and I declined. He suggested I not pass on their house ranch that they make themselves and I obliged. I'm glad I did. My wife, who is super picky at times, was shocked at how good the ranch was. She said "damn...that's surprisingly good, and I don't even like dill in my ranch, but that's excellent." Basically half of the pepperoni pizza was bathed in ranch and we wished we would have gotten a couple more. Pro Tip: Each pizza feeds 1.5-2 people but if you're hungry, you could probably house a whole pie without regret.

My order was through the Slice app. I ordered half Hawaiian/Meat (pepperoni, salami, sausage mushrooms). The dough was thin crust New York style. The sides were curled up which I found unique but the dough didn't hit it for me. I found the meat side a little salty. Maybe it was the sausage or salami. I also noticed that the mushrooms disintegrated and were barely noticeable. Some cheese looked like it wasn't melted properly. What I did find however fascinating was the ranch dressing that I requested on the side. It's really delicious. Tastes like homemade. There's no option on the app to select these sides for purchase so I requested in the special requests box and they gave me two of them. I should have requested thick crust but the app does not have this selection as well. Maybe giving them a call could have fixed that. I would probably recommend stopping by and eating in person next time instead of using the convenience of delivery which I paid a small fee on top of the tip as well.
