The person who ordered it said it was the best tasting burger he ever had. I ordered the bouillabaisse that had shrimp. Scallops, crab, and a wonderful piece of Halibut. In the past the restaurant used only the southern part of the building it's in, with maybe 16 tables, which created a warm and quiet atmosphere suitable for a date night. I was surprised to find that they have expanded to include many more tables and a second bar in the adjoining space, which was formerly rarely used, seemingly only for random entertainment events. This created a busier and noisier environment, which I didn't enjoy as much. The list of food and beverages on the menu is much greater than in that distant past. From what I could tell from one visit the food is just as good as it was, but the place felt more crowded and the service was more rushed due to the volume of guests, and the noise level was definitely higher. I will go again on my next visit to the area, but my fond expectations will have changed.

They have a unique story, the original Otis Cafe was located in the City of Otis in the 1920s, named after the Post masters nephew. Key finding, depending the time you arrive you may be waiting a bit to get in, they seem to be very popular with good reason. Once inside you will notice a very open seating area, with various booths and table seating options. They make fresh bread, we could not resist we took home a loaf of homemade bread it was very tasty. The staff greet you as you walk in, it has a very friendly vibe, the staff cycle through the building repeatedly checking in with its customers throughout your visit. The food options are plentiful, also note their portions are huge. We finally decided on an Omelette with veggies and ham, with a side of bacon and German potatoes with wheat sourdough. We also ordered the French toast with Fruit, an egg, another huge portion of food ample for two or three. The food was served warm, to our options and extremely tasty. The bacon was huge, well cooked, the Omelette and potatoes were perfectly cooked, I really enjoyed the Omelette and bacon. We are still working through the French toast, we took 3/4 of it home with us. Some recommendations, review the menu, be ready to order they are fairly busy and turn tables quickly. This is a must try spot during your next visit to Lincoln City.

There is one server who is always pleasant and attentive (the man with tattoos); unfortunately, he was not our server today. A large brunette woman, who was abrupt and offered no appropriate response to our questions or comments, was our server. Out of the 4 of us, 3 ordered a cup of salmon chowder along with full entrees; for some reason, she delivered 2 cups and 1 bowl, never returning to check in. A young man delivered our food without a word. The food was fine- nothing special, but the heavy sauces and potatoes served with the steak overwhelmed the other tastes. Our experience was marred by the lacklustre staff, which created an unpleasant overall ambience. We were not the only patrons who felt ignored; many around us had the same experience. There are now, more than ever, terrific restaurants on the Oregon Coast where we would be welcome to spend our $ 150+ on a meal. I would have left our server the minimum tip, but my mother insisted on leaving a far too generous gratuity of $26 for the most basic of service. Very sad to see one of our tried and true restaurants going the way of so many: downhill. The only redeeming quality today is, of course, the ocean view.
