We stopped in here on a whim on a random Sunday and it's now on the list of spots to check out when we're in town! It's a cute spot a block off the main street, with character and charm to spare! They've got a pretty epic selection of board games, cards games, puzzles, kits and some TCGs including Pokémon and D&D. The frisbee section was also quite impressive. The place isn't massive but isn't small either. We spent like 30 minute perusing and liked what we found. The folks running the shop were very helpful and very nice. They all seemed to have played a lot of board games! Prices were where we expected them - not a discount shop, but nothing crazy. Very much what we expected to pay and based on the Pokémon ETB and two board games were walked out with, I'd say we're fans! read more

Mike and max were amazing.. owners, you shop is in great hands, Mike was like a conductor of an orchestra!! He pulled in each group of people that came in the store. Now this wasnt some sales pitch type pull in, it was like a teacher on the first day of school pulling at the new kids to connect and engage. It was awesome! I came in a looker, a tire kicker, a browser. We left with 2 games, and 2 trinkets. He played games with us, with the kids, added his sense of humor to each question (some how oddly the same dad humor I have) and really engaging in each step. This place had it all, models, and legit supplies for assembly, paint, display. They had RC from copters, to planes, to legit cars and truck, no junk upsold here. They had some serious competitors here, and more parts and accessories than you could imagine this place could hold. They have a full wall of 3 pannel slide walls exposing fold after fold of knowhow... Full tech set up, and from the looks of it Mike is experienced with a mini screw driver. Come spend some money yall, this place was poppin off and with good reason. Support your local merchant. Will be another go to spot when visiting from Portland. read more

Hood River Hobbies.. hands down the kindest and most informative shop up and down the west coast. We went in for a part and saw a great collection of RCs. We left with the 1/16th E Revo and the staff there were knowledgeable and helped us through any questions we had. Great place to pick up an RC. read more

A magical spot we stumbled into while wandering about Hood River during a recent visit. We thought we'd just pop-in to look around while we waited for our dinner restaurant to open, but alas, we were ensnared in the web of highly passionate and knowledgeable game staff and we fell far down the rabbit hole. I truly love and appreciate when shops hire and support staff who care and are passionate about what they do/sell. It was clear this was the case at HRH and the result was that we were introduced to a handful of new super fun games and bought a few for the road. Our visit was fun and surprising in delightful ways and made us grateful that such spots still exist. We've already cracked into our new games and will absolutely return on our next visit to the area. read more

My friend and I walked in here during a recent stay in Hood River. We both love board games and found an amazing selection of a wide variety of games at this shop. We were welcomed warmly by the staff and had a great time looking around. During our time we met an employee named Luke who took time to get to know us and the games we enjoyed. He pulled out games and taught us to play some really neat engaging games. He asked questions and discovered our likes and dislikes and showed us the perfect two player game. We both fell in love with the game, made a purchase, and spent the rest of the night engaged in the game, Quoridor. Luke is an awesome employee and gave amazing service. After our Lunch at the Big Horse Brew Pub, I wanted to walk around town a bit. However, since I had the Kid with me, heading off to the Hood River Hops Festival wasn't in the cards. Instead, I visited a couple book stores, the Columbia Art Gallery, and Hood River Stationers. My son headed straight to Hood River Hobbies. I stopped in a few times to check on him and both times in was in the middle of explaining the ins and outs of "Magic the Gathering" to a store employee who was actually interested. If I would have known that earlier, I might have taken advantage of that and told him to meet me outside the beer tent! The Hood River Hobbies Shop is pretty cool in itself. Model boats and airplane options are in abundance, as are various other home hobby options. read more

I stopped by here on whim while we were taking a short break in Hood River on our way back from Lavender Valley and I can honestly say I'm very glad I did. Its a small shop but they have such a wide variety of puzzles, games, crafts, and toys. If you're into any of thise things definitely give a stop by if you are in the area. I picked up a wooden model and metal earth model for myself. The giant collection of board games really tempted me though, there were so many I haven't seen before. The staff were also very nice and helpful. You could tell that they were interested in what they're selling and were extremely knowledgeable. Super cute little hobby/game store in Hood River. I was able to find a copy of Guillotine, a childhood favorite of mine, and my wife bought a board game also. Prices are going to be higher than bigger stores, but I like supporting small businesses and the customer service was so good that I didn't regret paying the extra money. There's a surprisingly big selection of games and cards; and a couple of tables in the back for hosting games. I'll definitely be back when I'm in town. read more

This is arguably my favorite store in downtown Hood River! I always make sure to take friends and family here when they visit. It offers so many treasure to create so many memories with loved ones from board games & card games to model airplanes and trucks. During these uncertain times the only thing certain is family and the importance of spending time with loved ones and this place gives so many options to laugh and bond together! Stumbled in here after eating at Wicked Burgers, very cool place. Prices are competitive, and I love local shops like this that carry niche stuff. I bought a couple games and they had a pretty good selection. Also looks like they have some tables in the back to play games as well, which is pretty cool! read more

Wow, we dropped a few pennies here. Some disc golf frisbees, Magic the gathering packs and a couple of RC monster trucks. Great advice and input from one of the owners who provided us with solid advice. Plus the sale on the trucks helped us out a bunch also. We'd revisit when in the area. read more

Knowledgable staff and good hours, community interaction and laid bqck attitude make this the best hobby store I have ever been to. I have frequented many card shops in my time, but this is far and away the best. Frequent events make the regulars as much friends as anything, and great local competition is exciting. The owners are passionate about making their shop the best, and it shows. Hive fives to the staff as well for being open to learning all the intricacies of local business, hobbies, and products available. As a place to attend offcially recognized Magic tournaments, this place has got it all: competition, singles, packs, supplies, TOs, and enthusiasm. An excellent selection of board and card games, and extremely helpful staff! We wandered in with only the vaguest of intentions, but the helpful shopkeeper was so eager to show us the games that she thought would interest us -- several of which were available for us to try in open boxes -- that we couldn't resist picking out a couple of new family games. We're enjoying both of them, and we were impressed to see many of our other favorites in stock. Definitely worth a visit! read more

Hood River Hobby Shop is awesome. It is my go to store for shopping for my boyfriend. Before I knew this store existed on oak street I was always so frustrated on what to get him, and tgen behold... Hood River Hobby Shop. If you or if you have a person in your life who likes board games, computer games, painting, drones (good ones, not the knock offs) , you name it.. the hobby shops got it. This is one of my top stores for all of my christmas, birthday, and "just because" shopping. Plus their staff is always so friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to help. I went in about 2 weeks ago looking to buy a drone (which I don't know anything about them... buying it as a gift) and I asked the clerk for recommendations... and he not only took his time to show me each one that they had available. .. but what makes each one special, how they work, etc. One of the best business's in Hood River. read more

I found treasures for everyone in my family here! Pirate boat kit, crafting and art supplies and even a prank joke selection. And the BIG bonus was that I came with my train loving son to see what they had in the way of accessories for a used train table we are repairing. I couldn't believe it when I found the plaster fabric "stuff" that I need to repair a small hole in one of the mountains on the table. Huge bonus for a novice and a busy mom. AND they have a bunch of train table accessories for the other fun we'll be having. Prices are super reasonable. And the employee that helped us was fantastically cool - even gave my son the time of day, which most people forget the little people of this world. Thank you! read more

Pretty neat hobby store! They have all of the basics, and some extras, for things like models, airplanes, rockets, cars, and some other stuff. Plenty of little parts and accessories too. There is an area in the back with some tables to work, which is a neat addition. People seem friendly, and prices seem fair. At least peek in - it's a fun little store. read more

Great shop for strategy board games from catan to ticket to ride. People who work there are very nice and prices are competitive. They also have planes, kites, magic cards, and tons of fun summer items. I will be shopping here on every visit! read more
