I just went there again this morning looking for Sea Monkey (Krill) aquariums for the kids and they had three different types! I couldn't find them anywhere else in town except BiMart, which only had 1 type. The price was essentially the same as BiMart, with a much better selection. Given the choice to spend my money at a small locally owned business, I'll choose the small business every time.

Cobi, Cobi, Cobi!…read more That is the chant heard round the neighborhood these days. Think Legos, only with a military bent from our friends in Poland. I doubt Lego HQ in Denmark is losing too much sleep over this upstart company to the east, but they really do have a nice little niche market. As much as we try to educate our children in the ways of peace, love and understanding, most boys still like to break stuff. At least when it comes to Legos and Cobi, they get to rebuild it and the fun continues. Cobi is hard to find in Portland, so Hobbytown USA is a really nice option to ordering on-line. Their selection is limited and fluctuates, but they carry so many other toys and products, that this is always a great place to shop for birthday gifts. My father loves jigsaw puzzles and model airplane kits, so this really is an all ages hobby shop. They have a simple buyer rewards program. Just provide your name, address and phone number and every time you make a purchase, they keep a running total of your receipts and eventually you'll earn discounts, etc. Very nice low key staff every time I've visited the store. On many of my visits, there is usually a kid a heart playing with the remote control helicopters, train sets and the like. See kids, no need to worry about growing older. The toys just get bigger and better!

Definitely more land-oriented and is mainstream brand oriented (Traxxas, Axial, Spektrum, Horizon, Lectron, E-Flite, etc...), but is a good place to get parts when you need for those brands. Good for general hobby gear. Connectors, tools, couple/few TX and RX options for land and air. Don't expect to find most brands you'll find at online retailers that pedal in the cheaper/more generic Chinese goods. TGY, HK, Orange and whatnot. Owner can come off a little rude when you first meet him, but he means well and will get you taken care of and is a wealth of information. We're all just people and I'm sure there are some he rubs the wrong way at first meet (me, included, but no lie he's a great guy I've found over time!) and some that he clicks with.
